Best controller for Smash?

Removing l and r springs from your controller is banned from tournament play if they catch you.

cheater.

blowing your nose with a tissue is also banned if they catch you

GCN is the best. easily…

The game is definitely worth learning. Watch videos. Learn the game. Then learn all the advanced stuff

Gamecube controller easily

Do tourneys only allow GC controllers?

Why no arcade stick?

The one’s that I’ve been to in SoCal have usually been gamecube controller only. Some people believe that it’s because it takes too long to set up other types of control, or tournaments run faster with just plugging and playing.

Classic is best, but it’s wireless and it can be effected by other wireless devices, especially other Classics.

It’s good because: 1) The button configurations are more diverse, making it more customizable to suit your style. And 2) If you play melee it wouldn’t really mess with your game, because its a different controller, especially if you have a different button configuration.

But, Gamecube controllers are REALLY good too. That’s what I use. lol

Gamecube Controller > Classic Controller > Wii Remote + Nunchuck > Wii Remote.

lol. Because Smash really doesn’t need it like most 2D fighting games. There is no 6-button here. Just a Smash button and a special button and your triggers.

Yeah, GC easily. Oh and play Melee.

Well if I didnt main Peach then id use the Gamecube. But I use the Wii+Nun because it benefits her float.

The silver Gamecube controller. Everything else is teh sux.

Black>Silver. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, never use 3d party brand GC controllers. And do not mod GC controllers.

  1. The official Nintendo brand one works perfectly.
  2. Most tournaments ban controller mods.

I would recommend nothing else but the gamecube controller; the advanced glitches and techniques cannot be pulled off without one. Don’t listen to anyone else, use a gamecube controller. I am just the opposite of you. I am an avid competitive smash player who has recently gotten into Street Fighter. My advice to you is not to underestimate how competitive and complex this game can actually be.

Learn to:
Shorthop
Boost smash
Tech
Glide toss
Shield grab
and of course, YOU MUST RECOVER!

Brawl unfortunately doesn’t have the same complexity or depth that melee had, but I still consider it a great competitive fighter while at the same time being easily accesible and simple to learn (at least the basics). Melee was more offensive, Brawl is more defensive. That is the most important thing to remember when playing Brawl.

Me and my friend play fiercely competitive against each other. My sister, from watching us, has also picked up the game and so has her boyfriend and my girlfriend. My sister isn’t a gamer either, she never plays games.

Now we all play the game regularly, both Brawl and Melee, and we all compete to be the best. Welcome to Smash my friend, you have much to learn. I recommend heading over to Smashboards.com. Also, if you are looking to play people online go to allisbrawl.com. Just keep in mind that the quality of online matches is weak and nothing compared to Streetfighters.

My white Gamecube controller has served me well. Though I haven’t played Brawl in a while now =(

The GC controller is what the game was designed for, so it’s naturally the best fit. But yeah, you won’t have to get use to presing L and R all the way down like people from Melee did, which is a good thing.

The only problem with the GC controller is that it will look like it was brutally raped after lots of intense Melee play. I ruined 2 controllers so far. The C stick on one is chipped from the sides and the control sticks completely lost the rubber padding that was once on them. It was worth it. Melee is too good.

dont worry, brawl wont break any controllers

too slow

i personally think classic has potential to be the best (read: customized control scheme), but if you play both melee and brawl then go with the GC controller

Same as the others, no spring GC controller.

It would be cool to try with an arcade stick
