As far as pads PS1 or PS2. PS3 isn’t that horrible either if you’ve got no alternatives. Then Arcade stick is the absolute best in my opinion its just pricey. but ultimately worth it if you’re serious. X Box and dreamcast and Gamecube controllers are the worst in my opinon, right after keyboard.
try sliding your thumb across a PS1 dpad, PS2 dpad, then a PS3 dpad.
PS3 dpad will shred your thumb
I read a news story once about some 6 year old girl or something who used the PS3 dpad and it literally put a giant dent in her left thumb bone. let her be a warning to all of you
PS1 pad all day, without the analogs. People don’t understand that the face buttons on PS2/PS3 pad are pressure sensitive. It makes pressing buttons feel slimy and inaccurate.
I had to give up the PS pad cause it didn’t have 6 face buttons. I can’t do piano or slide method with it. Now I use madcatz fightpads. the buttons are not concave like the Sega 6-button pad so I can slide my thumb across them no problem. The d-pad is a full circle hat switch, not a plus shape, so I can press a diagonal rather then press two directions at the same time for a diagonal. I use it for all fighters now.
Any opinions of using a Dreamcast controller for FGs? I used it before as a little kid for MvC2, but I didn’t know how to do the special moves. It looks better than the 360 pad even though I play on it.
Just put your thumb in the center. AS long as you don’t slide around, you wont cut yourself. But yeah, I can refly on DC pad… which I’ve NEVER done on a stick.
I will like the source of that story. Any ways real gamers develop a “Gamers” Callus right on the pad of your thumb. A Gamer Callus are second to a seamster callous or rifle callous from doing rifle drill 8 hours a day
I’m not a fan of d-pads, but you’d probably be better off getting a Saturn pad if you still wanna be a pad warrior. Easier access to those last two buttons can make a huge difference.
You don’t need eight buttons for Street Fighter. Six is good enough.
reminds me back in the arcade stick craze that SF4 created; niggas would go into the Arcade Stick thread and say “pads are better” which would create a huge shit storm
Most annoying part is because Fluttershy is your Avatar, I keep reading your posts in Fluttershy’s Voice and shes acting smug instead of her usual timid self.
all “sticks” are controllers but not all controllers are “sticks”.
The Rock Candy pad is just a alternate color on the Afterglow pad, both sucks anus, but the p-ad is a notch or two better than the default Xbox POS.
(I got to do this, treat N0_d3N1AL as if he is his avatar)
For some odd reason I see a Pony being able to use a stick better than a gamepad as the pony lacks fingers to hit the smaller buttons and the d-pad.
So N0_d3N1AL needs to focus on Sticks. So unless you are a unicorn whose levitation precise enough for a gamepad or you are Pinkie I say go with the Stick.
Even Princess Luna would agree, and we all know shes a big time gamer since her return from the Moon.
For what it is I find it not exactly good for fighting games and the reason I say this is because I personally found it awkward playing MKII and SSFII due to the button layout(This may not be the best reason but man like I said it felt hecka awkward for me and I’ve had it for a few months now and the case is still not changing). However, I will say it works like a charm for shoot em’ up like Gradius III and beat em’ up like final fight and turtles in time. I cannot play those games without it.
Yet if we are just talking controllers the gc wavebird was good and a snes pad can’t go wrong with that.
sigh this and all your other posts are beyond ignorant.
Many pros use pads, Wolfkrone has arguably some of the best execution in the world, plays C. Viper, and plays pad.
Analog sticks on controllers are absolute trash for fighters, they’re inaccurate and clunky. A dpad is much faster for thumb movements, and a stick is much more accurate given you can use your full hand for the motions and have access to all buttons at your finger tips at once.
It’s preference, there isn’t really a “best” controller.
I’m honestly shocked at how much hate the analog sticks get. I’m up to 824/840 trials using just analog stick with Type B layout. How are they clunky? I tried using a Dpad and can barely do a hadoken motion
