perhaps a bit sparse in the number of frames but it seems well animated to me

Alpha series looks the best IMO. 3S sprites are grainy and a little over-animated.

SF3 sprites for me.

ON cvs2 sprties: the sprites looked awful to me. The sprites in that game that weren’t copy and pasted from another game and were brand new to cvs2 included.

and giefs run animation as example of how bad the new animations were.

IMO I think its 3s/Garou followed by LB2, SST then CVS2. Im sorry but something about the CVS2 spirtes seems really…rushed. The animation seems really stiff and akward…it doesnt flow that well whatsoever IMO.

Alpha ken bison(Vega) sakura were the best of their versions.

I have to agree that Cvs potrayed most snk characters better.

^ Couldnt agree more, CVS SNk characters have better resolution…but they animated sluggish and are very akward looking. Alpha sprites we’re good intially but after so many port jobs they began to look like shit…CVS2 is very ugly for the inclusion of Alpha sprites.

They’re like walking sticks that are about to snap in KOF. I swear they should’ve had broken limb animations each time you heard a hit connect.

IMO:

best shoto sprites (animation not included): cvs2
best animation period: 3S
best SNK sprites (animation not included): cvs2

the rest is debatable. But the alpha sprites seem to be capcom’s favorite.:rolleyes: If cvs2 had a lil less stiffer animations it would have been beautiful, but I like it nonetheless. Maybe they had to be that way, in order to include that many characters, who knows. Wasn’t that one of capcom’s first tries with 3D backgrounds?

I also think they did pretty good with alot of those superhero sprites on MVC2

Definitely the Vs series… the animation is almost as good as 3S, and the crazy pyrotechnics in Marvel upstage 3S in my view… the question isn’t who has the most animation, right? Marvel just has nicer sprite work overall.

they’re different but not better. I think that probably becuase I was a SNK player first, unlike probably the mayority here.
