Just played a very safe, lame Blanka. I think the Bison:Blanka is supposed to be 6:4 Bison, but when Blanka plays lame hit and run, and uses his shenanigans sparingly, it really feels like 5:5. But then again it might have been the lag too. Ugh Blankas and lag.

I played like 20 games against a good rose today.
How am I supposed to recognize, which “soul spark” she is using ?
After blocking them in the end of her attackstring, I always want to punish with cr.lk xx scissor

the heavy version has +2 ! on block, the medium -4 and the light -12 .
So for the last two version, I can punish. but while blocking the hard version, which I dont recognize, I want to punish and then get counterhit by some low light attack and then comboed into another soulspark (because of the +2 :frowning: ).

HP soulspark takes forever to come out. It looks like rose pauses for an unusually long time before it comes out. If you’re not asleep, you can actually hit her before it comes out, because it’s not a true blockstring. You don’t even have to reversal.

Also, Rose can’t combo into HP soulspark at all.

What is the ultra of preference in the Blanka matchup and why? Also can anyone give me tips for this matchup? I’m struggling against a local Blanka player.

To be honest, I’ve never really played a good Blanka player. Against a decent Blanka, you’re supposed to use U2, because that can punish any horizontal Blanka ball on block. Horizontal Blanka balls put Blanka a little too far away for U1 to hit.

Blanka rainbow balls can be focused, and punished usually with a throw because the cross up ones will usually break your charge. Watch out for the EX ones because they break focus.

Blanka’s up-ball/anti-air one, has deceivingly quick recovery (don’t know if all versions are the same). Instead of trying to punish him once he’s landed, you might want to punish him with a roundhouse before he lands sometimes.

Blanka electricity is easily stuffed with cr.mk if you can predict it and are within range. Also, if they are doing random electricity and are not within cr.mk distance, then you can slide punish.

I dunno, that’s just my experience against every single online Blanka player. They don’t tend to think much.

Thank you for the tips on how to punish his specials. I agree, online Blanka’s are horrid. This local Blanka player is legit though and has some tricky setups that I have a hard time blocking and countering.

Vega/Juri/ have problem when get hard knock down, that is deadly in some match up.
most top tier have very few bad match up, that is also why some people think Gen is also
high tier, he have difficult match up but no 7/3

Bait out any unsafe kunai (focus it)
and throw her, run your Bison safe jump set up, or fake cross up while option select anything beside block, repeat.
ONCE she get thrown, is very hard for her to NOT try to escape/reversal, that is when your timing and spacing work for you the best,
if your safe jump/fake cross up timing and move selection and option select suck, you can’t put any attack that really work.

take out bad match up, Bison is high tier vs whole cast.

Guile-----Dive kick character can give him problem, Guy/Sagat/Sims.
Zangief-----need 2nd character, in case this gief know how vs Bison.
E.Honda-----Counter pick, don’t even try Bison, anti air getting blown up by jump light punch is not a joke.
Chun Li-----Focus Hazanshu, bait out SBK, don’t jump blockFADC all fireball, anti air<–this I don’t even think is bad match up until chun have super.
Seth—counter pick using Fei long.

a lot of character will become bad match up once they got super, since their super are so much useful and chance to get you into their super setup are
high.

Gen—that super are Bull, anything hit into counter into super into ultra, sounds familiar??
Makoto—yip, active super but when you see ultra 2…wait? cross up Ultra?..watch out.
Vega—same reason, cross up ultra, and super at corner.
Ryu–he can either FADC or do it again, to force you to tec, or not, either way he can waste full super bar, or replace throw with dp into super.
Chun li—anything you do mid range if she block is instant super, even st.mk.

no one should care what that fraud seth player said. anyone with half a brain knows his tier list was trash, the community event hub one was even more accurate. other than that I liked your post a lot.

Cross up psycho also works, when he have meter don’t use it.
He will likely replace jump for yoga tower to avoid your scissor, replace it with long lasting HEAVY psycho crusher, it also catch him when he jump back fierce
and also is far enough to avoid he teleport to another side and land, if you use med/light you likely whiff/get punish.
The risk is higher, but reward too, some time you only need 1 knock down to take out Sim…go offense from ground like nuts, and avoid spam punishable move
like head stomp and devil reverse. approach from ground.

I think I saw some complain before, discussing handicap character, mostly zangief, and DJ.
Why not using Guile using DJ? since DJ got more anti air, much higher mistake tolerance (not with Guile, he is safe but not very tolerable character.)
so A LOT of new player when they facing the struggle about get beat, they think about tier, and found DJ, Gief, Cammy, T.hawk, Adon. are much easier to use,
and they have powerful move set which they can also beat another scrub.
certain thing they have can let them get away,(slide, hop kick, dive kick, larrient) and very solid defense, only thing you can really punish is when HE makes mistake.

It all works, but its more situational since it now requires charge. The Ultra is not any slower than it was in SUPER, but it does do more damage :stuck_out_tongue:

How should I deal with Sakura?? only problem now I have its her footsie, and jump in, funny I punish some jump in with ex stomp, and I can’t beat that jump in HK with anything, it MUST BE SPACING? or I can force trade?? I need find reliable way to lock her on corner and not get hit/jump out in corner.
cr.fierce trade, but round house stuff? ex psycho get block/cross up safe…only jump back fierce and neutral jump really work, but that is hard to react to and if sakura change timing is getting even worse…

funny once people get lock in corner is so crazy to see how they react…
