"BEST BIPSON!" - Dictator Match-Ups

s.hk works great for me, its only 1 frame slower startup then ryu’s c.mp and the hitbox is way better…

I also use try to use s.LK and s.HK to prevent Rufus from jumping up close, but I think Valle does a low tech OS with the c.MP too (c.LP+c.LK+c.MP), so he should be safe against both dive kicks and throws. I tried that a while ago with Bison’s c.MP too, but that move seems to be too slow, I would often get CH by divekicks instead. There was some rumor on these forums a while ago that you could do s.LK~s.LP for a s.LK/throw tech OS, but I don’t think this works, you only get an useless kara throw that way.

Focus it. If he lands in front of you release and get a Focus combo. If he lands behind you backdash and throw. He may start ajusting and throwing you out of focus. If he does, jump back/forward insta HK

Vega - I don’t encounter that many Vegas either myself but if you’re in the corner and they wall dive for Izuna/Claw, you can neutral j.MP them out sometimes; for the most part, teleport is good. The problem is to watch out for EX-wall dive which hits on the way up and they can cancel it off some normals.

T. Hawk - if you stay in one spot you will allow him to gauge the distance for whiff dive into typhoon. Playing him like Gief means to just be patient and punish. You should also stay away from his poke range and condor spire (horizontal) spacing because it’s common to also whiff those purposely because they are buffering typhoon during the animation.

Seth - No more sonic boom traps into Uc1, just block and punish.

Balrog - you CAN tick throw him but online lags and it’s hard to react so yeah it’s easy for them to jab you out if you don’t do it perfectly.

Akuma - Akuma’s that don’t use demon flips properly are easy to beat because their game plan is just air fireballs, uppercuts, and s.HK spam.

There’s this fun little thread in the Guile forum that says Reverse match up guide and it posts up what other forums post about fighting against Guile. Sound like a good idea? Perhaps I can focus more on offensive strategies in one section and then put up some that others post against Bison?

Normally it is a good idea, but most character matchup threads against Bison are about how to beat headstomp and devils reverse, as if that is the key to beating Bison. Most of those threads are pretty useless.

That’s a pretty brilliant idea. Knowing what your opponent is thinking of doing is invaluable information, but if you rely on this, you might not see the flow of the match and how your opponents will react if they do something new.

Hmm… okay. Maybe snippets that don’t include the obvious if I find good posts. Thanks!

you did not seriously just say ibuki and cody have bad anti airs did you lol…

LOLWUT

i just read on the ken forums that:

ken can U2 option select against teleports

:frowning:

Ken’s uc2 isn’t option selecting Bison across the screen for sure. That must be a special case though.

Anyone willing to give me some advice on how to deal with rushdown Cammy Players? I understand I have to keep her out with pokes which is fine until she guesses right or gets the knockdown. It’s mostly her ambigous crossups and her cannon strikes that get me (Funny that a Bison is complaining about ambiguous crossups right?).

Anny help here would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bison has a lot of attacks that just beat out Adons dive kicks, jump back HP, standing MP, in air x MP 2 and once you get meter obviously Ex Pc, did you guys find anything else on any of the new characters?

and is it me or did smart headstomp’s get super buffed since DP’s got nerfed?

It takes a little practice, but it really helps to learn to recognize and react to the startup of a cannon strike. Once you can do that, you’ll be able to knock Cammy out of the air with a st.short or st.RH and reset the situation.

Cammy can’t really beat down back block, because she has no overheads aside from a jumping normal. When a Cammy is rushing me down, I just try to focus on when a Cammy will Cannon Strike or tick throw. If you can react to either situation Cammy’s rushdown will become a little less stifling. IMO, crouch teching is a bad idea against Cammy since a CS will float over your cr.short, and her frame traps will result in some big damage.

As far as crossups go - again, they just take some focus to recognize. If you have to you could always just into training mode mess around with Cammy’s crossups to get a feel for the spacing.

Yeah. I was panicking and getting too defensive and my attempted crouch teching got me in trouble.

Thanks for the quick reply and I’ll put the FA, st.short, st.rh into practice!

I noticed during the Norcal stream that whenever LPN, AndyOCR, or Hugo101 faced a Rufus, they mostly pondered about using U1, but ended up choosing U2 anyway. There were several points during their matches where they blocked EX-Messiah which would have been a free U1, and yet they never landed a U2.

There isn’t anything of Rufus’s that really seems punishable with U2. Is there something I’m missing, or do you think they just chose U2 out of default?

Here’s what I noticed in the Bison matches from NCR. Everybody was burning tons EX meter and not being able to sustain it. Not enough block strings or chipping LK Scissors to build back up the opportunities. Andy threw tons of slides (2 EX) only to cancel out most of them. Justin threw a ton of EX-Messiah guesses but also FADC’d out of a ton of them (3 EX). How long is it going to take to rebuild back up those 2 bars for Bison and 3 bars for Rufus?

Those are probably like the best times to kind of rush Rufus a little bit back for the meter and to get him to stop his offense since he has no EX-Messiah to back him up. I don’t even think Uc1 or Uc2 matters a ton with Bison against Rufus. The one that Rufus picks matters a good deal. If Rufus stays on the ground, Nightmare Booster and Psycho Punisher opportunities are pretty slim since there’s no j.MP into them and the best bet is blocked EX-Messiahs or random Ultra. I think Uc2 has a slight edge since you can meaty it on untechable knock down and force them to block the right way. It’s not guaranteed but it’s the best to use when they are out of meter.

But if they keep meter up the entire match it’s kind of a different game and both ultras are kinda difficult to land anyways. Anybody else feel that way for Bison - Rufus?

you can punish a blocked rufus outstretched punch with ultra 2

There were more than a handful of times where they blocked a full EX-messiah without Rufus going over them. Every one of those points was a free NMB, which would have been more than the number of opportunities for U2.

I also think an auto corrected EX-Messiah would get them out of a meaty U2 on wakeup, since it’s an invincible reversal. It’s hard for me to see the advantages of using U2 vs Rufus.

They would have to whiff it, and given its range, that is highly unlikely. Rufus has very little reason to harass you with c.hp, which he would have to be doing for you to be looking for it.

Ibuki is ruining my life!

Here are a couple things I know:

– If you bait a slide and it whiffs, you can punish with c.strong -> c.forward.
– If you block her EX DP and she cancels her recovery with kunai, you can ultra that, or you can neutral jump RH (which avoids the knife) into full combo.
– If she tries zoning you with those blade kicks, you can focus through the second one and dash in on her, you can s.RH between the kicks (trades sometimes), or, if both parts of the move whiff, you can punish with s.forward (most reliable, IMO).
– She’s got a big bag of frame traps. If she tries to do target combo (jab strong fierce) -> blade kicks on block, she might try and continue with s.jab or s.forward for the CH. If the Ibuki likes to do s.jab, you can delay for a sec and then do c.short xx short sk. If they’re into the s.forward, you can interrupt her with c.forward xx rh sk. If you don’t know what she’s gonna do after blade kicks, dashing away is a pretty good option.

A couple things I don’t know (and hope that someone here does know!):

– Is there a benefit to kicking away (as opposed to blocking or focusing through) the kunais?
– Is there a good way to safejump her after untechable? I’ve been able to make her EX DP turn the wrong way from time to time, but I haven’t been able to reproduce it at will.
