Update from the u-stream. The guys have managed to figure out some good stuff about the air grab in relation to new characters coming in off a KO or snapback:

Skrull cannot air grab a character in this situation if that character does not press any buttons. However, if that character does throw out an attack Skrull will snag them.

Yeah, I was the one who explained it in the stream comments (told the guys to have incoming char press buttons). Just wanted to see confirmation.

Friend of mine managed to score an early copy of the game today, as im sure a lot of peoples friends have also done…>_>

Skrull has some dhalsim-like command normals. f.C and df.C. f.C does a stretchy arm forward, and df.C does an upward angled arm. Not useful in combos. Would be good pokes if this game was SSF4. df.C is good for poking sent in the air when you cant get a C version grab.

Worm squash is pretty dumb. Its an OTG only move where skrull stomps on the opponents face once. Cant combo off it. Does very little damage. Good if youre trolling your opponent. Not for much else at this point.

Orbital grudge has ONE HIT of super armour, but only when the flames are out. Useful if you telegraph a tri jump and can hit the opponent early. An OK get off me move at best if you dont have an assist. Not too bad on block. Probably punishable. Needs more testing.

Couldn’t for the life of me figure out what that normal was in that video that someone thought was worm squash. I have nfi what the hell the command for it is.

His s.C is jump cancellable. Didnt experiment with any combos with it. Will be looking at it further. But given how his air normals are, it might not be super useful.

Skrulls level 3 DOES NOT TRACK. Like his meteor smash, its distance depends on what combination of attack buttons you push when you activate it. Ill say what those ranges are when i pay more attention to it. A lot of my experience with his level 3 was “YEA LOL I GOT YOU WITH METEOR SMASH TIME FOR FREE LEVEL 3…OH FUCK I DISTANCED IT WRONG.” This wont happen with practice.

Cant give much combo info. Nothing i did was new and exciting, and because im a massive scrub it took me forever to get the timing on OTG jd.C -> relaunch. I still dont know what the best chain of normals is. In that potential combo I listed, I couldnt KFC the tenderizer properly where I wanted, and even so, dashing into a relaunch chain is might end up being too slow. I think it might work in the corner, but i need some solo time in training mode to get this out.

While im on the jd.C train. it is DEFINITELY overhead. Wasn’t able to crank out any unblockables with the Wesker assist though, but i definitely think theyre possible. Again its probably just a practice/timing thing.

Sorry its so vague. If I had an hour in training mode by myself I would have all of this stuff down. But unfortunately my only access to the game is through someone who is working at totally opposite hours as me atm, so i won’t be getting my hands on it much this week. Ill drop you guys any skrull info i get though.

His grab is amazing. Phenominal mixup/reset potential. Just remember not to try and use his C version as an anti-tri jump. Doesn’t work. Really, REALLY doesn’t work.

Ummmm what else…I definitely recommend pairing him with an assist that helps him cover ground. Amaterasu cold star or sentinel drones worked the best for me. Taskmaster parabolic arrows were pretty crap TBH. Didnt use Doom missiles/rocks. Pretty confident either of those will be pretty good.

As I say, won’t have much time with MVC3 before its actual release, but ill give any info I can.

a couple of things…don’t know if they have been noted or not

-skrull can kara his command grab with s.B and s.C, range increase by about a half a training block maybe more

-skrull with sent drones assists is godlike for mixups when characters tag in (for now) when a meteor smash is placed correctly

-normal grab or air grab into meteor smash into super works

-the follow up to orbital grudge wall bounces to let you do tenderizer into super

Dang, good stuff. Can you follow up the wall bounce with anything other than tenderize?

In about 6 hours when i finish work, I’ll find out for you. XD

But given that its a wallbounce, I’d say you can go into a regular air combo as well. Might be the new go-to bnb for the time being.

A, B, C xx Orbital Grudge -> Followup wallbounce -> A, B, C, E -> j.A, j.B, j.C j.E etc.

Or something along those lines. As I say, i’ll try it today when i get a chance. Although TBH the damage probably scales better by just going into tenderizer xx super.

Actually now that my brain is going, off of a wallbounce, skrull could potentially go wallbounce -> meteor smash -> lvl3.

Skrull’s weakness is laggy attacks and lack of options in the air. Same as Chris.

Exactly. Cover him with an assist like Amaterasu cold star or sent drones to make your blocked/whiffed attacks safer, and add damage to your regular combos.

Anti air is also a great thing to have with him.

I still think tenderizer is his best assist. Havent got to experimenting with the others yet.

Would you mind checking that one assist I mentioned previously (the over head fire punch, I dont know the name) to see if it causes any kind of ground or wall bounce. It looks like it would. If it doesn’t then I agree that tenderize is probably going to be his only viable assist. But im not really sure if I want him as an assist. I will try to keep him on point as much as I can…if things turn out right.

That sounds crazy. Are you sure he can do ground series -> launch after the wallbounce though?

last i checked that was a charge move for skrull (this is not the assist) in the challenge mode they have you do an air throw into the corner and do the flame punch. Things to note

It also causes wallbounce and can be juggle so it is skrulls otg option when he has a lot of time

assist should otg

it is NOT an overhead

also in the air after a spike skrull can follow up with down C to do his pillar command move which can bounce and be relaunched in the corner only

Sorry for the confusion, I didnt think the move was an actual over head. I was just trying to describe what the move looked like since I didnt know the actual name of it.

SLV, are you sure it’s corner only? I think Seth showed that you have to OTG -> dash -> something > S to get midscreen relaunch, but it’s possible.

Used him a fair bit today. Starting a much by jumping up and using d.C in the air is great. I was under the impression that his command grabs were unblockable but they were blocked during my chips strings. Odd.

@ Andarel…pillar when down c in the air hits skrull is left at a huge disadvantage, the only way you can get the bounce is in the corner where the opponent hits the wall and gives you time to recover…

@nemisis that means that they were still in block stun or you weren’t using the correct grab, A grab is for short distance, B grab is long distance, C grab is anti air. It should be noted that the C grab only works from a distance, close trish dive kicks won’t get caught
