"Beg For Your Life You Inferior Race" Super Skrull thread 2.0

Of course Skrull is a better character on point. There are only two characters in this game that are better at anchor (Arthur and Phoenix and I guess maybe Strider???).

The Tenderizer assist actually works great for me because it’s the kind of thing that Tron needs for her crazy high damage combos so wasting an assist slot doesn’t hurt either. If you play Firebrand Tenderizer is pretty fantastic, too.

Honor Basquiat asked what makes skrull such an effective anchor, and I tried to answer his question. Especially because you have all kinds of ways people play Skrull. Hi im nasty plays the anchor xf3 stupid skrull. Meanwhile Dj Huoushen plays him 2nd (inferno is such a damaging super to dhc to. And Pain plays him on point with 2 gdlk assists.

So when it comes to skrull, you cant just say DURR hes better on point. He can literally be played anywhere and be effective. It’s just a matter of the player constructing a good team.

Anyway, i was wondering, what assists do you guys use with skrull and why?

I honestly ran the gamut and used all his assists. I went through a tenderizer phase for combo extensions. Then I went through an orbital grudge phase for a get off me assist. And i think i’ve now settled on stone smite for wall bounce combo extensions. I never considered using it bc its too slow to otg, but now i otg with my point, call stone smite and continue the combo, much like dj huoshen does with felicia otg into stone smite.

My point is that pretty much everyone is better on point. This game is made where everyone can do really stupid amounts of damage with the right assists.

The thing is that somebody has to be the last character on your team and Skrull does a more than adequate job at that.

It’s just player preference. My team is not constructed to have Skrull on point, therefore I cannot have have him anywhere else but last.

Plus, I’d rather have Dark Skrull than Dark Wesker.

For me it’s pretty much impossible to play Tron anywhere but on point so I had to decide if I’d rather have Taskmaster or Skrull on anchor.

It wasn’t a hard choice.

In other news, I’m done recording everything(except Team Synergy, but that’s for later) and now editing the guide.

update: Going back to record 2 extra sections. I forgot to explain how to use Skrull while in X-factor.

I think its funny you say that. Just look at DJ Huoshen. Between Task and Skrull he chose Task ask his anchor. I’m here wondering how your team works? do you use tenderizer for taskmaster unblockables or something? Im just curious

that’s exactly why i have him has anchor. I really feel “better” with doom/modok interchanging the first two slots, but I hate having either in the back. Sure doom can be pretty crazy with level 3 x factor, but he isn’t the greatest anchor out there.

I’ve been tossing up between strider and skrull in that anchor spot, and truth be told vajra is a much better assist. However, popping x factor and orbs and teleporting around like crazy isn’t my style. Also, I find it much easier to extend jamming bombs with skrull and thus I’m leaning towards developing my skrull.

My issue, and I hope Nasty’s video will cover this, is what the best ways to create offense with skrull on anchor are. If i’m not backed with assists, what is the game plan? also is the go-to x factor combo just meteor smash super jump cancelled into itself?

I am so new to this character but my anchor game plan usually revolves around catching an assist and point character and blowing them up or

  1. L/M elastic slam with x factor to option select H elastic slam
  2. meteor smash x factor on block, elastic slam
  3. fish with f+H into x factor something
  4. ambiguous standing H on snapbacks
  5. dash in st L hope to get lucky.

Is there anything else that is a little more efficient? Like freaking idk. clearly all characters are better when you can make them safe with assists… but does that make skrull a bad anchor? is there any SAFE offense possible when he is in x factor?

Right before I was gonna edit up my guide I remembered ppl asking what to with Skrull while in xfactor, so now I’m adding a new section that’ll show everyone how to utilize anchor Skrull.

Tron is my main reason for using Tenderizer; it knocks the opponent in the air enough for Beacon Bomb->King Servbot->Standing H->King Servbot->Standing H->Lunch Time. Forcing the opponent to block on entry is nice too because Tron gets ridiculous amounts of damage off her air throws.

Really when I made my team I thought “OK I want to use Tron so I need a horizontal projectile and a Clakey D ender assist. What are my options?” and ended up with Task and Skrull.

I remember Clakey D. Only because I had to beat him in EVO to get to play Dragoomba on stage.

TBH, never heard of him before that. Maybe some mentions of him playing Tron on Cross Counter I think? I just think Clakey D whenever I think of Tron.

He used to be THE Tron player back in Vanilla. He came up with that combo ender so the name kinda stuck even though he isn’t as relevant now as he once was.

Now THE Tron player is Rikir. All hail Rikir.

Haha well that explains it. I vaguely remember our match, but I just remember getting hit by Magneto combos, and his tron getting stuffed by my deadpool launcher. I remember telling my friend that I won my match and he was impressed, but I was like who the hell was that, lol. No disrepect to him though because he played great and the match was the closest I had in my beginning pool.

This is to show how the meter gain is different from each game, thus preventing Skrull from gaining his own meter after a level 3:

Why would it be too risky? If you have them locked into a block and can use an assist that hits for a long time (Akuma Tatsu, Frank Shopping Cart, etc) that allows you to charge up. When you jump cancel the Stone Smite it actually stops all backwards momentum from the push block and can allow you to land a grab after it. Its an interesting mixup especially if you use that as a mixup by jump cancel into jumping charged S. I think its worth trying out with friends and such to see if it works at the very least.

I want in on this guide =(

ill give it a shot

PM sent.

super skrull!!!

ggs alukard, i was the skrull/task/wesker you faced, >.> i couldnt do anything with my skrull since yours clearly beats mines, but it was a good first tourney experience. ill hope to go to more Big2’s.
