No, you cant. You have to mash the button. But like i say, you only have to hit the button 3 times, so it doesn’t feel like dumb mashing.

How is the priority of the Tenderizer assist as far as it being an anti air?

Pretty crap tbh. A lot of stuff was snuffing it. In order for it to AA it needs to be done early, and at a specific distance. Dont think of it as an anti air. Think of it as part pressure tool, part combo extender. And also be aware a lot of characters can duck it. It has its uses

Man, ive thought of so much stuff i want to try. Unblockable setups, psuedo guard breaks, a BIG list of combo variations.

Best thing i can tell everyone in general is dont be afraid to use his grab. The grab is going to be what wins games for skrull IMO. That thing is phenominal.

on the meteor smash.
it is , doesnt matter if your close or far or anything

srk + A = left side of the screen
srk + B = middle of the screen
srk + C = right side of the screen

Is Skrull a good choice for the starting character?

I’d say he sits on the fence between beginner and intermediate, it wouldn’t take long to get remotely descent with him, but it would take some time and dedication to be able to take awkward aspects like his air dash and use it towards his full potential.

I think he means is skrull a good choice to be the character you open the match with.

Yea. His DHC’s are awkward when youre coming into Skrull, and he needs a lot of assist support to do his damage. For this reason he is best when he is backed up by 2 characters, so yea, i would say hes a decent choice to open with. Plus when people get used to your grab mixups, he will probably get a little less effective. Hes certainly a good option if you want to open aggressively.

He does tend to burn a lot of meter though, since his supers can basically connect off of anything he does, so keep this in mind. Very easy to DHC out of though.

I also think he is more useful on point than as an assist. Tenderizer is a GOOD assist, but there are better ones out there.

I will be using him as my starting point character. I don’t see any reason not to tbh.

How would you define his style? Is he a “mix-up” character? Do you feel like he can mount an offense on his own, once he gets in? Do you feel like he has the tools to open his opponents up?

Also, is A-Orbital Grudge safe on block?

Edit: Also thanks for answering everyone’s questions, it’s much appreciated

I dont mind answering questions at all. The more people know about Skrull on release day, the faster other people can discover stuff and i can mooch their strats XD

As for orbital grudge, i cant say for sure. I only remember using it against Iron Man, and as soon as i stopped moving i was just getting my ass reamed by tri-jump mixups. And TBH, thats just because i was terrible at blocking for the first hour. I didnt really use the move much after that.

How would i define his style? Its a little bizarre actually. He FEELS like a mixup character, but his lack of decent aerial options/overheads mean his high/low game is pretty crap. (This may change when people start discovering stuff with him though) I would almost call him kind of a ‘pressure grappler’. Overwhelm people with your ground speed and regular pressure game in order to set up a grab. If you score a combo while doing this, awesome, if not, no biggie. Your pressure/speed is good enough that you aren’t taking many risks playing this way. I will certainly be trying to suppliment his pressure with things like unblockables (wesker assist etc) to try and avoid developing a linear playstyle.

This won’t be the only way to play him, and honestly, after a week, I will probably have changed how i feel about his style. I didn’t experiment enough with his moves to give a proper answer to this question. I wish i could give a better answer than this, but having only had 3 hours in the game, a lot of what i was doing was either very basic, or very gimmicky. I explored as much as i could think of, given that i also had stuff to try based on requests that my friends made, but there is A LOT more to Skrull than what i found.

But yea, sorry my answers to both your questions are basically “I’m not sure”

Thank you, I understand that you can’t answer every question in detail, so it’s all good! It kind of sucks to hear that his mix up game is kind of weak, I was hoping for a command normal overhead or something. That “ghetto” dive kick sounds really interesting, I can’t wait to check that out.

Again, I cant say if he definitely doesnt have a command normal overhead, since i dont know, and i dont know if you can use jis jd.C like that, but dammit, im gonna find a way to make something work.

Hey there! From the moment he was announced I have been really interested in learning skrull and his metagame. There was recently a video posted of a person going through arcade mode and in one fight he is up against skrull. The AI was able to perform what I think is his grab (not command grab mind you) and immediately follow up with meteor smash. Did you try anything like this out Ill_Bill? Also his one assist where he comes out with what almost looks like a fiery overhead punch, Im wondering if it can be used as an OTG or maybe it causes floor bounce to continue a combo. It comes out at a fairly decent speed. Hope some of this made sense.

Not command grab? You mean his regular throw? I know you can follow his command grab up with tenderizer, but i never tried meteor smash. It makes sense though, since you can get an OTG meteor smash off of his standard air combo into knockdown. (assuming meteor smash is his teleport thing. I really need to go and learn all the names for these moves haha.)

As for the assist, Ill be experimenting more with all his assists when the game drops. I only really used the tenderizer assist when i played the game.

ya im pretty sure its his normal grab. heres the vid, just jump to 9:20 and you’ll see it.

Skrull has 1,000,000 HP which isn’t the highest, but is still up there.

how fast does meteor smash hit and does it count as an overhead? can you call out low hitting assist > Meteor Smash > Combo? Can you work the timing to make it unblockable/safe way to get in?

What I want to know are details of Skrull’s Level 3 Hyper. It looks like as soon as you do it he instantly teleports around the full screen area and strikes from above. If so, I want to know if this can beat out alot of hypers. For example, Storm (Hail), Ammy (Okami Shuffle), and Zero (Giant Slash).

Might be rollable, but if not, its an easy cancel into nova or his lvl3 for some good damage. This will also probably work if he catches you with an air throw. Good spotting bro.

Pretty quick. Its generally better to punish things at full screen with it though. I BELIEVE it hits overhead, but because of how you distance it with the buttons, i think setting up unblockables with it might be problematic. She Hulks assist might be the best bet to attempt this, but its pretty gimmicky. Realistically, assuming his jd.C hits overhead (A lot of my skrull hopes are revolving around this lol) i think that will be the go-to move for unblockables with him.

Hailstorm startup is pretty horrendous. I snuffed it with a meteor smash xx lvl 3 at one point. You will probably be able to do the same to zeros super. Just block Okami shuffle though.

But you’re talking about just doing a raw super. Can’t say i tried that. Im not sure what the tracking on it is like. It would probably work against the storm/zero examples if it tracks well, but it probably wont beak okami shuffle unless its got invincibility on the way down i imagine. Something worth trying though for sure.

Thanks for the info. It is greatly appreciated.
