"Beg For Your Life You Inferior Race" Super Skrull thread 2.0

I honestly don’t know, you could test a few out yourself. Her whirlwind will probably help skrull get in, since it eats almost every other projectile in the game and might even help skrulls j :d: :h: mix-up. But her lightning attack might help you with your AA since it seemed you struggled once sent got overhead, as for her tempest, I honestly haven’t found any use for that assist yet so if you can it’ll be great.

I was playing around a bit with Tenderizer assist yesterday but didn’t do so hot. He just stayed on the screen so long flailing his arms around begging to get punished. Didn’t get any good setups going with him and most of the time just failed.
However, since you have Storm, you can cover your assist better than X23. You’ve got lightning normals, Hail, Whirlwinds, etc.

Overall, I think Orbital Grudge is the best option though.

Playing around with this a bit more, after an aircombo, j.D+C, dash A pause A Elastic Slam, if you A TenderizerxxDeath Penalty, that’s 100% against most of the cast. Stank damage.

Oh crap I misinterpreted the question, well ill go with stone smite tbh, storm has issues extending her combos since she has absolutely no OTG attacks, so I think stone smite will help her out in that regard. But I really don’t know the properties of skrulls assists so I can’t really offer much insight.

So I really, REALLY like Skrull, but I never see anyone using him in any tournaments. Do you guys feel he’s just being overlooked, or are there weaknesses holding him back from being competition-worthy? I can’t decide which I lean more towards.

Nah man, there are a lot of good characters who don’t get used, modok, arthur, deadpool, akuma(outside of using his assist most akumas suck on point), chris, x-23(who I honestly believe is vastly superior to wolverine), c.viper, viewtiful joe to name a few. The only possible weakness I can see right now is a difficulty in opening people up, and I don’t think that will be a problem when people get their tick throws down since skrull can grab you from bout half a screen away and easily get at least 400k of a command grab, plus he seems to have some nasty resets/tech traps. I definitely think we will see more skrulls as time goes by, he just isn’t as obviously good as wesker, or as interesting as ammy or phoenix.

I tried this combo, but then I realized I could just do dash j.2c, dash s, j. a, j.b, inferno and reap almost identical damage for less work. With that combo I get about 510k, how much do you get with yours, about 530k, right? However, you could end your combo with death penalty right?

What other combos do you follow up with elastic grab?

Elastic Slam, air dash, j.Down+C, dash, S, super jump, BBCD, Meteor Smash, Inferno = 532k damage

Ending with an Inferno on the ground, as opposed to in the air, allows you to go for resets, which, in my opinion, play a huge role in Skrull’s game.

For example, if you successfully land a reset off that combo with an Elastic Slam, you can repeat it once more, netting you a total of 1064k damage…

Why don’t more people use stone smite in combos? I really like how it looks but this isn’t a combo vid so was just curious if there was a reason to use that instead of meteor smash. I mean Im sure you can combo off stone smite easier than meteor smash since the latter is only super cancelable right?

That makes sense, I learned the bnb that leads to ground inferno, it’s really not much harder than the other one. So, what’s the best/easiest (potential) reset to follow up with after that standard elastic grab combo?

As far as I know Smite only combos in the corner plus is a pain (for me at least) to time) right. Meteor Smash is just easier.

Here’s stuff I normally use:
After Elastic Slam -

  • J. d+C, dash forward a (pause) - A Elastic Slam
  • J. d+C, dash forward a, dash under and do whatever (credit to aer0blue)
  • J. D+C, dash forward a, call a low assist + Meteor Smash (high+low attack with potential to crossup, Inferno if you got it)

Those should be enough to get you started. Way it works is that dash A will cause them to air recover, resetting hit deterioration, combos, and making them being able to be thrown again.

Just watch out online–I was trying to do some of them, but they didn’t work (I believe online has about a one second input delay at minimum). So hop in an offline mode to try them out.

Dash back, H Elastic Slam. I’ve been getting some huge mileage out of it.

I was thinking dash back, M Elastic Slam, but you find the opponent usually jumps?

Dash back H elastic slam after you hit an inferno in the corner. Maybe it works outside the corner, but I think they could tech backwards, But in the corner regardless of how they tech this will work if you do it asap, very bad if you miss, but soooo much happiness if you hit.

I could’ve sworn i got H elastic slam to hit a new opponent entering the screen after KO’ing the previous character, but haven’t been able to duplicate it(i don’t really practice much, no time, it’s always offline vs gameplay, i can try to mess around with it some more.) Anybody else able to confirm? It might have been after a snap-in too…can’t really remember.

I remember something similar to this too, can’t remember if it was M or H, but I know it wasn’t snapback and I know the person who I did it against claimed it was bogus and he couldn’t do anything to prevent it, then again take that with a grain of salt, he’s not the most technical or competitive player in the world…

If an incoming character enters no inputs, they can’t be grabbed until they hit the ground. If they enter any kind of input, they become vulnerable. That’s part of what makes it a “mixup.” If you try to throw them and they guess right, you whiff and are open. If they guess you’ll try to throw them and try to defend, but instead you attack, they get hit.

What do you guys think of Skrull paired up with Trish/Tron? That would be Trish/Tron/Skrull. I just switched Doctor Doom from my third team, into my first, taking Skrull’s place. Now I am using Skrull in my third team as anchor. Is this a dumb decision/team?

I think skrull and tron are a match made in heaven tbh, the assist makes people block A LOT, which just makes em easy pickings for skrulls command grabs. Plus judging from justins she hulk I think skrull will be able to do some nasty resets/tech traps with tron. As for trish, well I know very little about her so I have no idea how she would work with skrull or tron bonne.

IMO skrull isn’t too good as an anchor because he can get in/get a hit much easier with an assist than without, and I think that many matchups require that he has an assist helping him out. I think he benefits most from projectile assists that cover the ground, such as doom rocks/beam or taskmaster arrows. These let him wavedash in to get in range for a low/tickthrow/throw and puts pressure on your opponent.

Also his assists seem pretty bad overall to me, if anyone knows otherwise please for the love of god tell me, but it’s not a good idea to put a character with meh assists 3rd.

I hopped in for a good hour or two practicing with Skrull. First and foremost:

SET YOUR OPPONENT DUMMY TO AIR RECOVER RANDOMLY. IT DOESN’T RECOVER BY DEFAULT.

Previously I didn’t notice and I got plenty of false positives.

That being said, you know how Justin goes SHulk slide, call out Tron, then go for the jumping F+H? You can do the same thing with Skrull. Easiest way is to air combo, then dash in with a jumping d+C. Dash in with a B, wait, then:

if your opponent techs back, you can go for a B Elastic Slam to A Tenderizexxsuper.
if your opponent doesn’t tech/neutral techs, you can dash back + A Elastic Slam to A Tenderizerxxsuper.
if your opponent techs forward, jump up and air grab to Meteor SmashxxInferno.

ANY of Skrull’s throws can lead to a super, so be sure to use them.
