Chun-Li is amazing, people just don’t give her time, they just want to win more easily… I don’t think that Chun is Top Tier, But i can easily see her as Middle Tier. but Personally don’t care, I love her XD

She is good enough. But she’s a long way from the top.

Does anyone knows if Captain america is a bad matchup for chun li??

I have been fighting Caps a lot these days and he really is a pain in the ass. His Shield Slash is a horrible spam for my chun. I can’t even air dash to hit confirm.

Tatsu Assist + Spinning Bird Kick is almost the only choice that i have to hit confirm. but i need to be very carefully.

Captain America is a pain for A LOT of characters. My only suggestion is to take advantage of the vulnerability after Cap throws Shield Slash. If he’s covering good angles with an annoying assist it can be hard, but it’s very much a matchup built upon patience.

And you can poke him out of c.:l: “frame traps”.

My suggestion: do not pushblock his shields, so you have time to jump away or hit him;
Depending on the assists you have, you can keep triple jumping/ aerial Tenshoukyaku untill you’re above him and hit the assist button. Long fight, but may be less dangerous.

Here is one trick against the CHARGING STAR -> HYPER STARS & STRIPES frame trap: If you try to punish the CS, you must do it by starting a punishment with her cr.M.

Why?

Because that lowers her hurtbox, so HS&S won’t hit you on its frame 0, making you able to use Houyoukusen and a counter. ;D

I might go back to using Chun Li Vergil Hawkeye like i use to in the old days.Whats every1 idea on the team?It use to work for me but idk if it still will.I have some idea for some optimized combos :wink:

I’m assuming you’re using Hawkeye’s horizontal assist? Not too fond of Hawkeye anchor myself, but how does his vertical assist hold up, instead? I don’t know if point Chun has much use for horizontal arrows against her other common point matchups.

So, just out of curiosity: does Chun/Strange/Spencer work at all? I can’t wrap my head around Chun so I wasn’t able to put together a consistent Slant Shot -> Kikoanken crumple combo to tag to Strange, but it must be possible right?

What is Chun’s preferred beam assist? I see a lot of potential with Ghost Rider/Chun(AA Assist)/X, but I need a solid beam to finish out the team.

What are your thoughts on Chun/Doom/Magneto?

Well, If you’re looking for a solid beam assist for both GR and Chun, I’d recommend Taskmaster. Solid durability and his DHC hypers aim anywhere on the screen. but that team doesn’t really have a dependable anchor. Unless you’re gdlk with chun and you put her on the back end.

Ok, so I’m going to try to pick up chun more seriously, maybe I’ll stick with it. But for now, I’m thinking of using your team, Arithmatic, Chun / RR / Strange. Because RR has to be in my team in some shape, I’m looking to throw in Strange because of that Coon-Li video.

Do you have any tips on how to get in and around? I’ve never used bolts before, so I’m going to have to learn Strange as a character, but it seems like people can just crouch under bolts. Which is a good thing because it seems like Chun should be airdashing in anyway. How can I protect this assist and how else can I use it to my advantage? Also, Not sure if you read the RR forums so I’ll ask here too, how would you use RR w/ Bolts?

Well I have a few tips, but there are still things to work on. Mind you this team takes quite alot of work, but the team works in many different ways. (Recently i’ve been playing Strange point and its pretty good)

  1. use your jump M with Chun while under the cover of Bolts to create high/low mixups. cr.M jc to Yosokyoku is a pretty solid way to open people up if they push block.
  2. if you reset your opponent in the air and call log at the same time, you can go for an air throw and throw them into the log. and if they tech, they have to block the Log trap and you can come down and punish accordingly in a fuzzy guard situation.
  3. make use of your L and M fireballs to get rid of higher priority beams like plasma beam. Combined with Bolts can snipe out characters like Magneto and capitalize for a combo.
  4. Be aware of characters like Zero and Wolverine who aren’t hit by bolts when standing. Its a very vulnerable assist and can lead to pretty bad happy birthday situations. Call it with care.
  5. The team hyper is awkward all the way around, but with kicks can get you out of some situations. With fireball assist you can catch the opponent for some pretty sick damage AS LONG AS they’re flat on the ground before the THC activation.
  6. Be careful of just airdashing in. Chun’s normals, while fast, aren’t of the highest priority and can get caught. Use neutral jumps to your advantage and break throws. If your opponent blocks your overheads, fake it and empty dash cr.M for a combo.

Hope that helps a bit. I really like my team and it can be played with various assist choices. Pretty soon I will explore the alternative route of Eye of Agamotto and Double Spitfire. I like Bolts and Log, but i feel more well rounded with the latter choices. Good luck!
