Does Chun have any bad matchups that Zangief/T.Hawk could cover? Also any guesses for the top-3 hardest matchups for Chun-Li in 2012?
No Idea about the first part as I have no idea about using grapplers although I think Gief is good against the twins/Cammy, so that should cover the issue of harsh divekick rushdown characters. Other than that no real idea…
In terms of her bad match ups I see them being pretty much the same as before:
All Divekick characters will be a pain (I think Cammy will be the hardest now tbh)
Makoto
Seth
Akuma
Blanka/Fei?
In terms of what is worst I think its as much a personal preference as anything but I see Akuma and Seth being BIG problems
actually gief does great against rufus, viper… but akuma, guile, sagat, sim and the twins can be a real pain
Fair enough I didn’t really know so my information was based on the fact I know Gief is a BAD match up for Cammy, therefore I assumed any divekick characters would suffer…

Gief is pretty decent against Rufus and Viper, but in terms of Chun’s bad matchups, those are Chun’s least bad matchups, if that makes sense. Chun has better odds against Rufus and Viper than she does against Akuma, for example, who is still going to be tough for Chun and who will demolish Zangief any day.
Akuma is still going to be her worst matchup. That hasn’t changed since original IV and it won’t unless she gets a way to either not be free to the vortex, or at least make his runaway game a bit more difficult. She probably won’t so that matchup will stay horrible.
Next would be a toss-up between Cammy, Viper, Rufus, Yun, and Yang. The twins did get nerfed but what made them so good is still there and Chun is still weak to high-powered offense.
Then there’s Blanka and Makoto. Blanka might actually get better depending on how the EX Legs buff plays out. Makoto will probably fall around even, or maybe disadvantage Chun at 4.5. Mak’s got a high powered offense, but Chun can still zone her and even counter-rush her, so I don’t feel like this is such a bad match.
to put it simple everyone who is 100% rushdown w/o any kind of zoning tool will have problems against gief, the twins can zone him out, specially yun, cammy in the other hand cant do that, viper can try but it wont be easy task for her… rufus players with good footsies can play hand to hand against gief, but even then ricky has always pick chun against gief…
in the sf2 days the worst match up for gief was honda, not even sagat

People really think the Cammy matchup is that bad? I personally put on in the same group as E.Ryu of “characters with a divekick which aren’t actually so bad”.
There are some pretty solid Cammy’s in my area, although I have feeling they’re not doing the proper scary oki stuff which she needs to use in AE (assuming she has unblockables and stuff against Chun, she might not), but generally I find that you can actually footsie her with your normal footsie tools (unlike Yun/Yang, and really even Rufus), and you can actually anti-air her dive kick with far.mk(it’s like the only one, even E.Ryu/Akuma you have to air to air, which is actually what forced me to realise the Akuma matchup is still arse), and focus backdash works much better on it than most dive kicks due to it’s recovery, and there’s the post throw unblockable (not sure if that still works, but I’m definately still seeing Cammy’s have trouble with that setup), and her “stay in yo face” pressure is potentially high damage, but loses to “block, wait, reversal if stubborn” way more than Yun/Yang/Rufus and even Akuma, AND I actually find her defense worse than even Rufus actually, although that’s probably because I throw too much, with not enough cr.shorts and Rufus’s just jump back divekick me, cheeky bastards.
Good Cammy’s destroy Chun imo, she has unblockables, crazy set ups from knockdown, is very hard to AA due to her divekick and being able to do it reactively to change he land distance. I know I am not the greatest Chun ever but I have a couple of the better Cammy’s (can’t say best cos of Alioune lol) on my friendslist and I really struggle to deal with her… For me its as much a personal bad match up as anything…
o.sagat def wasnt a good match up, but honda´s is just hopeless (1-9, 1.5 at best) meanwhile o.sagat is a solid 2-8
i was a gief player and i tell you i would pick o.sagat any day before playing an honda, at least the sagat is dead in one knockdown (and the zoning must be on point), honda in the other hand can reversal oicho or reversal buttslam/headbutt but getting that knockdown is all the damn mu and even then you cant do much about it aside getting chip to death. Nar its not that bad… Its not a good match up but I’d never call it a 1-9 match up…Still I never really played Cammy in that and my local arcade when I was younger had no decent Cammy players. So you’re more qualified then me to say that.

Isn’t HDR widely regarded as garbage? I’ve never played it myself (though I have played ST a little bit), but I’ve heard that no one plays it because…why not play ST?
