"Becoming the strongest woman in the world!" Chun-li Match-up Thread

to me gouki and viper are way more “7-3ish” than blanka, in the other hand honda vs chun is kind of 6-4 to me /m2c

The Blanka match-up won’t be 5/5 for Chun until she can throw fireballs mid-screen and AA him properly. Imo, it’s still 6/4 in favor of Blanka despite his nerfs. Good Blankas never used Blanka Balls that often because they knew people were looking for it (with jab checks or whatnot), so that nerf is not that big of a deal in that matchup compared to his improved slide which really helps him.

Akuma/Viper always seems like a 7/3 matchup when you get knockdown’d or cornered because this is when you enter their vortex and cannot do a thing about it.

Blanka has alot of good gimmicky stuff to annoy pretty much all of the cast and the fact that he can get over/under kikokens limits her options to zone him. alot of the match relies on make Blanka players make mistakes and stuff, if you have a good life lead then sit on it and frustrate them into coming to you and make mistakes. Honestly tho I think it falls more along the 5-5 for High Level Chun and Blankas and more like 6-4 blanka’s favor for intermediate level

How are my fellow chun doing vs yang, yun. I have alot of success zoning against the twins but I’m getting pwnd by the twins dive kick pressure when they get in on me. Example yang dive kick, cr. lk,lk,lk slash, slash, slash, dive kick and repeat, overhead ect. I block he throw, if I back dash they dive kick you, ex sbk is unsafe. Not to mention chun li kikoken on yang is no good.

on a high block ur can throw them for free, if u have meter and block it low while crouching just ex SBK after .coz 99.9% of them are gonna start jab strings after anyway, just keep them away like ur doing and back dash…sometimes twice if they keep trying dive kick pressure

True, they won’t expect an EX SBK unless it’s a safe jump or it’s the 3rd time they try their trick again. So if they try anything a second time just go for an EX SBK, that’ll get them to back off when you have meter.

Thank for info. Hmm I feel like in AE more that ever that I have to
Out play my opponent just to get a win. Offline you fight mostly top tier Character and it’s a challenge
Because zoning plus poke/footsie just don’t cut out because you still have to out play ur opponents.

what are some of you guys strats against Vega. I have a good Vega player from AZ. Know as far as Wall dives i’m good, neutral jump fierce or roundhouse or air throw them. usually its the ground game…roundhouse is good to keep him out but he does has the rolling claw and slide (cr. roundhouse to go under) and his pokes are annoying as fuck. I know you have to kill him on wake up since he only has backflip kick and 3xP or 3xK for backflip which u can punish. The ones who can play good up close give me trouble.

I saw Efute did jump-in meaty head stomp (block or hit, doesn’t matter) and continued it in j.hp (not whiff). Does it work only against Rufus?

Iron: Show me some of your matchup videos in the Video section and I’ll give you some input if you like.

It works against fatter hitbox characters like Sagat and Gouken as well (maybe Abel too). I’d assume that it probably works on some of the comparatively smaller casts but the timing is not as lenient.

Really impractical though IMO. Not reliable enough to land. Definitely flashy but I don’t think there’s a use for it.

It’s a great finisher. I’d use it in my safe jump setup and do stomp, and instantly hit j.hk. It just adds more to your “mindfucking” arsenal

Yo nash i think fei is an easier 5/5 than ryu for chun.

I disagree, personally. Fei does more damage, has better corner pressure, has safer block strings if you have no Super, better punish combos, some fantastic pokes (cr.HP is ridiculous), a move that goes through fireballs that can be combo’ed off of (unlike a shoto’s Tatsu), and a command throw. Eating a full rekka combo from Fei Long basically means you’ve been put in the corner.

I usually rush every vega down in the worst way. I think Vega has a particularly difficult time against chun, as she can turtle against him and rush him down.

something I do on wake up (usually after a forward throw, so its more like a safe jump) is jump in fierce punch, if he does that back flip thing to escape, I walk up throw, and repeat. I dont always do this, but it does tend to work a bit

I think its not that easy to turtle against vega, vega with his claw has insanely good normals and as an example of his normals his st.RH hits twice has big range and is 4 frame start up. She can pressure him pretty well and she can OS his backflip but still vega played well has great footsies and should keep Chun out, I find if you can get in you can beat him but good vegas are hard to get in on and apply pressure and I really don’t think you can effectively out turtle him unless you remove his claw…

when I say turtle, I mean full screen turtling with the life lead. A lot of the smarter vegas dont want to risk using of of his specials to get in on you, because most of the time a focus attack will beat it and lead to major damage. Plus most vegas know at that point, chun is in, and thats really bad for him

Yeah kinda I am not disagreeing with you btw or trying to argue lol but vega and just walk to you? and play footsies, its impossible to just stay full screen away and also not that good vega’s do it all the time but focus against good ones (actually good ones) doesn’t work as they can hit the 1frame (I think) link to scoop you up

Ex barcelona eats focus btw, either by grabbing or just like the ex devil reverse (Ex barcelona does 2hit if the activation is in neutral)

oh i do play vega too
