Nah, Orie and Weiss can be entirely different in terms of gameplay. Orie has her own “persona” thing, that can attack with it’s sword or create a damaging force field. She also fights with kicks. Weiss can make those magical platforms and uses element spells. The only thing they both share is their type of weapon.
That would be the same as saying that Yuzuriha can’t be in because of Jin Kisaragi.
Well, at least I hope so, since I want to play Orie/Weiss in this game.

Then again, I doubt any UNI character will be cut. Too small of a roster.
I don’t think so. It’s definitely got the smallest roster between the three with pre-existing assetts, but it’s not exactly sf2, or smash 64, either. 20 characters as of ST, counting guests, compared to P4AU’s 22, counting DLC. I don’t expect rwby to get too many characters, since they require entirely new assets, but getting 20 from Uni would mean 20-ish from the other series (except rwby, but even then, just four would be kinda disappointing), which is the entire launch roster of P4AU, and over half of BBCF’s roster. Which actually sounds incredible. I don’t care if it takes until next christmas, I want them to go batshit insane with this. I want Flynt Coal, and Emerald, and Mercury, and Tyrian, and, since I’m already talking out my ass, why not throw in Tucker or Sarge or someone from RvB. I want Tatsuya, and Joker (with a color based on one of the Persona 2 Jokers), and Minato and the Demi-fiend (or at least someone from core SMT.). But that’s just dreaming. To take things seriously, I do think we can expect seven from each to be a lowball (again, except probably rwby). If those scrolling lists stay, they can easily have arrows added to the side, or be made longer, or something. Besides, just seven from BB sounds stupid as hell, as does it being the only one with a decent roster count. If I were to intentionally overestimate, then my guesses would be that BB will get most of the CT cast, plus the others that we’ve seen, plus maybe two or three more, Persona will get the investigation team, most of sees, and two or three more, UNI will get the original cast (that is original uni, before el, when it was japan only), maybe drop one or two for Byakuya, or Wagner, or whomever, and rwby will get team rwby, and, at most, four more, pulled from team jnpr (Jaune and Phyrra moreso than Ren and Nora) and the villains from the first three seasons (Roman, Neo, Emerald, Mercury, Cinder, Adam). Even after all that though, I’d prefer to avoid speculating on the etc tab. It has too much potential. All I’ll say is that it’s going to be either kinda dissappointing after all the unculled hype, wildly crazy and full of left fielders, or removed entirely. Hopefully this hasn’t been too annoying or cringe-worthy to read, and hopefully I didn’t miss any typos.
Thing is, BB has way too many characters. Imagine only picking 20 out of CF’s cast. Even if you cut the less popular and story-irrelevant characters, you still have to make some big cuts to fill everyone in.
On the other hand, game runs in a modified BB engine, with most of the characters having sprites ready. It’s mostly a matter of adaptating their moves and frame data to the new game, which is troublesome, but takes less time than drawing sprites.
P4AU has 22 characters, UNIst has 20, BBCF has 36. All of them mostly ready. Let’s be honest here, the roster of this thing will be gigantic, and that’s not counting DLC.
We already have 16 characters and we’re not even through the safe, obvious characters yet.
Yeah, with the amount we have and not being through all of those yet, it wouldn’t at all be surprising to me if the roster was 36 or even 40 characters. Fuck, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be more.
Not to mention Under Night In-Birth cast on their revamp sprites progressare still at work, also their 2nd Distortion Drive. But don’t worry, RWBY & UNI cast”s said completions along with English dub will be finalized around let say over 75 or 80 to 100%. We’ll find out soon next year.
I’m wondering how ASW is going to approach DLC and if BBTAG will have any at all
I’d imagine they could pick 1 character from each franchise and release them every 3 or so months
or do straight up themed packs of 3-4 characters from a single franchise
Or maybe ASW is fine with how the roster will be looking like by the time we’re done with the reveals
I’m not going to get my hopes up about it tbh, but you know what? I’d be down for having a couple of characters from outside the main four being in the game.
And by that, I mean just Jojo and Hnk lol.
I’d be down with the packs, so long as they’re relatively cheap since they’d be filled with characters recycled from other games; unless they do a RWBY DLC pack, I could see the justification for having them being more expensive.
I could be wrong, but since the person talking at the end of the trailer saying something like “you guys are also into this?” is JP Noel, it leads me to think that it’s hinting towards Tsubaki and Makoto being next, if anything.
I wonder if the next reveal will be at PSX. It ought to be a good opportunity to reveal a ton of new characters in one fell swoop.
Arcsys haven’t been at any of the previous PSX events, kinda doubt it’s gonna change this time
If they are hinting at Tsubaki and Makoto, it probably means they’ll be revealed in the same video. And since the last time we got two BB reveals at once, we also got Weiss. Which means a Blake reveal could be coming soon. That, or they could be preparing to drop Joker shaped bombshell on us.

So, do Makoto and Tsubaki have anything in common not related to Noel? Because I have an idea. What if the rwby charactes are being revealed alongside two bb characters each that are connected by both plot, and a main character? Hazama and Rachel were behind the scenes chessmaster types that convinced other characters to do things to durther their own goals, and were both connected to Ragna’s obligatory tragic backstory. I only really look up lore for characters I like, so I don’t know much about Noel and them, but if I’m right about enough things, this would imply that Yang will come with two characters connected to Jin, which to me says Hakumen and Izayoi, as alternate selves of pre-existing characters that act very differently then the originals. This is three+ layers of pure conjecture on top of each other, so there’s plenty of points of failure, but I’m willing to make that bet when the only stakes are my credibilty concerning predictions, and this kind of thing is fun anyways, so I might as well share.
Also, concerning the above list of predictions, I think that Carmine, Vatista, and Merkava are pretty safe. Not quite on the short list, like Kanji or Bang, but pretty safe. More so than Mika and Enkidu, at least. But maybe that’s just my favoritism talking, since I play two of those characters.
Well if you’re meaning “in relation to other characters”, Makoto’s a squirrel beastkin (similar to Blake being a cat faunus), so yeah you could have her in the same reveal thing as like Teddie and Blake if you wanted to do some “animal themed trailer”. As for Tsubaki…that’s harder to say other than that she looks and has a weapon really similar to Pyrrha from RWBY.
In regards to anything in common with each other that doesn’t involve being friends with each other and Noel, or simply “being female”, both of them switch their allegiances at different points in the story and all that, I guess.
Damn, I thought I had something. Until Blake’s reveal sets a pattern for the rwby trailers (rwby and two bb, rwby and two from the same series, or rwby and just whoever) we can’t really make anything resembling a educated guess for their reveals. Man, this brings me back to when me my friends were speculating on the smash 4 roster back in high school. I remember I was convinced that the actual leak that happened just before the japanese release was fake because it had the duck hunt dog.
