Bayonetta demands Dante (DMC) to make her a sandwich. Patch fix available for PS3!

I bought this for my JP Xbox 360 back in October launch…

Honestly, this was the favorite video game I played in all of 2009. It has so many elements of replay-ability. I’m happy for those that only own the PS3 now too that SEGA decided to fix the PS3 version for international release.

From all the reviews, it doesn’t appear that Sega fixed the NA release…and from what I’ve read, they only plan on fixing the load times, not the frame rate problems. Basically you have a 360 “exclusive” that was ported to the PS3 to sell more product. It’s unlikely that PS3 owners will ever get a product close to the 360 version, which is quite annoying because I really want to play this game. I’ll still buy it, but it will always bother me that there is a significantly superior version on an inferior system…

Users generally don’t like the long initial boot time, and you also have to consider the users who run out of HDD space (which is less of an issue these days, since the lowest-end PS3 available has 120GB). That’s the same reason they removed backwards compatibility with PS2 games (users complained about the price, so they cut it to make it cheaper).

Anyway, I have no inside info for SEGA, as I don’t work for/with them.

Aw, is that so. O well…

On the other hand, this is exactly why devs need to stop making their games cross-platform releases and focus their resources and effort to get the best product out possible for a single console.

I told my wife that the PS3 version had problems (she knows I’m way amped about this game) and she told me that I just got my PS3 and I’m not buying a 360 for one game…she knows me too well…

What they need to do is design the game with both systems in mind from the onset or even do the PS3 one first. When you make a game for PS3, you can use the SPUs (processors in the Cell) to perform tasks like number crunching and graphics rendering (that’s how they got Killzone 2 looking so good; the GPU just takes care of base requirements, and the SPUs take most of the load off). When you port that to 360, you can just consolidate most of the threads for the Xenos and GPU. If you do it the other way around, you’ll have to redesign your shit to make it work properly.

I’ve seen a bunch of games end up only using, like one SPU and the PPU, and it’s no wonder they don’t run that well before major optimization.

Having played both versions (of the demo), I would say the 360 version is only marginally better. The colors being “more vibrant” is ridiculous and not necessarily a good thing, since you can easily address this “problem” by adjusting your TV’s settings (which I talk about in the PS3 thread).

I’m more concerned about the frame rate than the vibrancy of colors…regardless, I’ll still be buying it and loving it…even load times don’t bug me too much…especially if they come out with a patch to install it to the HDD…

Your going to have a good time with Bayonetta on PS3. Somethings will irritate you, especially on hard difficulty with the amount of enemies increased. Overall though it is a positive experience. I am just salty because I have played the 360 version at a friends house so I see how much better it is. Chances are if you have not touched the 360 version then you won’t know what your missing.

:u: That’s probably due to under-utilization of SPUs, but I won’t be able to tell until I get a retail copy in my hands (I have the tools to check from work).

According to Guerilla Games (who made Killzone 2, so they know what’s up), the SPUs are really fast (3.2GHz clock speed, and there are six of them) and so good at number crunching that you can basically throw in sloppy code and have them grind it out. The PPU, however, is pretty slow, since it’s just for control and overhead functions, and the RSX GPU by itself isn’t as fast as the Xenos in the 360. The PS3 also has less dedicated RAM, but that’s only a problem if you don’t design your game correctly.

Still, though, the frame rate from what I’ve seen isn’t particularly bad. It’s still more than playable, except for a screen tear here and there. It’s funny because if you compare the PS3 and 360 versions of Bionic Commando, the 360 one is far worse in the exact same way, but no news media talked about that at all.

so yall know i find the videos for you. randomly stopped by phantom babies and found these

Im definitely getting bayonetta(for 360 haha) but may I ask this in the Bayonetta thread since most here have played dmc before… is DMC4 worth owning/should I buy it?

It’s been getting average ratings mainly because complaints about backtracking but that’s something that was in what I think is all of the dmc series including dmc3. If the gameplay is like dmc 3.5 or some shit I want it, otherwise if the gameplay is something I’m not used to seeing in any of the other games in the series before it then I’ll pass.

Here you go~
You’ll get these posters if you pre-order it from GS

Got the info from this post

Average? Wasn’t it getting like 8s and 9s. Those aren’t average.

But yes, buy it. Before I touched Bayonetta DMC4 was the best action game of this style. Nero keeps it from being DMC3.5 and once you get Dante it’s like coming back home. I’m playing it over again now and it’s still just as fun.

ugh, fuck dmc4. if anything get dmc3se, and enjoy. better music, better stages, better bosses, better weapons, better cut scenes. its just better. you will get dmc4, put it in, get use to playing with nero, enjoy it for a bit, get dante, then be like, fuck, nero made me totally lazy with that devil arm snatch pop shit. then you will uncomfortably play dante for a bit, then you will back track everything and be like, wtf is this shit. you finish the game, get no special outfits, weapons, or anything, and then you never touch the game again. dmc3se will be played today by me, and is a far better game then dmc4 could ever hope to be. i like the bayonetta demo over everything dmc4. its good for its first go round for a noob who just wants to enjoy some decent action type shit, but other then that, its ass.

Just being able to play as Nero is worth the price of buying DMC4. Used it should cost you like $30.00. He’s actually more fun to play than Dante, which is hard for me to say because Dante’s my main man.

And you’re right, there is a lot of back tracking but no more than any other DMC game.

‘Im going in for the killlllll, I’m doing it for a thrilllllll!!!’

Haha, if you’re getting DMC4 used for 30 bucks, you’re getting ripped I got mine for 25. In February.

dmc4 is a downloadable game on the 360 now, for 20 bucks.

yeah, everyone knows paying an extra $5.00 is gonna really make the game not playworthy. :arazz::wink:

What no it’s not.
