you think the universe would explode if they made a sega vs capcom game with bayonetta vs. dante?
after playing this demo bayonetta would win thats for damn sure.
I guess I’m totally falling for kamiya’s hyperbole about this being a “fresh new take on the action genre.” It was like playing devil may cry 1 for the first time.
in the sense that if I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Like how I FELT when I first played DMC. That “Holy-shit-this is different” feeling. I got it again with bayonetta.
I didn’t mean to say “this plays like devil may cry one” thats another discussion entirely.
I said the only game I was gonna cop in the future is ME2 but the Bayonetta demo is probably gonna make me change my mind. It’s like I’m controlling Christie Monteiro in an action game. Damn near every button combination/sequence I could think of had a move/string attached. Every time I play I see something new, it’s quite amazing.
If they put as much work into the rest of the game as they put into that bitch’s move list Bayonetta will be unstoppable.
I am going to buy bayonetta, but this is probably the first purchase of this type of game for me ever. I always shied away from the next gen action combo fest games like this: I never owned any Devil May Cry or God of War. The one thing I dont like about the demo is that the world seems so confined. When you get outside the first time I just wanted to start jumping down the sides but an invisible wall stops you, which is lame. Umm what was my point? (sorry drunk) Right, I guess what is the key to being good in these games? Combos seem so random and I dont really get the whole flow of button press sequences yet.
:u: I think, for you, God of War is more up your alley. Yeah, it has a lot of big, flashy combos, but that game is more about exploring and uncovering the story. I’d say it’s a good transition into the story?-fuck-that-COMBOS! games like Bayonetta and DMC.
I played the demo and thought it was a decent game. I am not into button mashing and stuff like that but I must say some of this shit is amazing, such as the torture stuff and artwork but overall, just not my cup of tea, might buy it when it is severely reduced in price like DMC4 is now.
I gotta agree with this. Also on the hard difficulty almost all your abusable strings become obsolete because they can be interrupted at anytime. The AI gets faster and does ridiculous damage. I had to depend more on knockdowns, but some enemies feel like metal zangief and can only be knockdown by hitting them a few times.
On a side note I hate to say it but the Japanese Bayonetta frame chops like crazy on hard difficulty, due to the increased amount of enemies. At one point it felt like a slide show. Normal was completely fine though. I guess I gotta get the NA version as well it seems. I doubt a patch for the Japanese version will be as good as the NA overhaul. :wasted:
Ah damn really? I’ve been looking to import this for a while but if there’s a possibility of a fix with the local version (which I doubt) then I might just wait for it. Are the frame chops bearable?
One of my friends on PSN has been torturing me with this game, but I’ve been busy with Assassin’s Creed and Tekken, which is the only reason I don’t have it already. I’ve played the demo to death as well so I can’t stand to turn it on anymore lol.
im playing in hard mode now. I didnt notice any choppiness. it seems the same as normal to me. Normal was crazy in Alfheim stages when theres a lot of enemies at once and didnt notice anything bad then either. I went into the same portals in hard mode and even with the enemie’s crazier actions it was still running well. Are there any stages in particular you noticed this in? At this point id just wait for the North American release though. I downloaded the demo and it does look a little more polished and the loading times are quicker. I do hope theres a patch but if not the problems arent enough to make me buy a whole other copy. it really is the same game.
Sega has been quote good recently though. Valkyria, Phantasy Star Zero, Total War and Yakuza 3 were all in-house games for example.
Secret Level, or Sega San Francisco (The ones who made Iron Man and Beast Rider) are pretty rubbish still.
IMO Sega cops a lot of shit they don’t deserve. As for them screwing up the PS3 port, rumours are that they had to make that port in a stupidly short amount of time, which means that the people who made it must ahve been extremely talented to get it even to the state it’s in.
Bayonetta - Chapter II “Vigrid City of Deja Vu” when you fight the two Beloved (Giant Angels).
Massive chops like a slide show, the game gets progressively worse due to the amount of enemies on hard difficulty. Yes it is very much playable unless your like me trying to do no damage runs. Also if you haven’t played the xbox version then you probably won’t know the difference. Anyway if the changes to the NA version make it run a little better, then there is no point to rebuy it. But if it plays close or just like the 360 version then it is most def a buy.
I doubt a patch can fix these issues, that’s the one reason I look into re-buying it.
I have a few friends who complained about the same things I did. I am guessing the animation looks normal to you because you haven’t played the 360 version. When I played the area I mentioned it was chopping like crazy. Dodging at the right time was pretty hard under those conditions. Either way, I can’t speak for what you have experienced. Who knows maybe your experience was better? Anyway if your enjoying it then more power to you.
