I mean, we got interesting play mechanics like “Witch Walking” and “Witch Time”. And yes, she has FUCKING Tonfa/Rocket Launcher hybrids that can be equipped to her hands AND feet. We even got the option to pick up temporary, “Streets of Rage/Final Fight” style weapons, which can either be used as a quick alternative to what’s promised to be a robust amount of weapons, or for one-use “Item Crash” like attacks.
And that which we have seen thus far is, if Kamiya is on point, just what has been shown of the early/“boring” parts of the game.
If the game doesn’t strike a chord with you, for any particular reason related to aesthetics or what-have-you, then that’s you. But to say it doesn’t bring anything new to the table…? :wtf:
He probably wanted her to be “edgy” and hold it backwards like Darth Maul or some shit.
You could literally list everything Bayonetta is doing that has NEVER been done before in a current or last generation beat-em-up and people would still say how unoriginal and unimpressed they are. Id much rather you just not like it, than to say things that just arent true. From a jazz-inspired soundtrack, equip-able weapons on the hands and feet, and the return of short-segmented stages instead of long drawn out missions, I think Bayonetta is a great step in the right direction.** Bayonetta wont have a boss gauntlet!** That should have you sold right there. You dont have to worry about fighting the same boss later in the game just for the sake of stretching out! Im sold!
And you know, I heard the creator also produced the original Devil May Cry. :rolleyes:Somehow its a crime if he takes pieces of HIS own creation in forming the identity of his new franchise.
Im agreeing to disagree from now on. But some of you guys are being a real drag nitpicking something thats supposed to be fun and take us out of this shitty world. There are a lot of games that are much more popular that wont or dont live up to the greatness of Bayonetta.
Yeah I was just reading that in a magazine last week, saying the original producer of DMC was directing it this time or something, and that he called DMC 2 and 3 not the first one’s true successor. I think he might have also said that this game has all the new elements and gameplay (obviously still sticking with the DMC themed stuff) that he wanted his DMC 2 to have.
Lock on + back + attack = launcher
Lock on + forward + attack = advancing strike
Big deal!
Then you have your standard PPPKKPKPKPK combos. As does every hack n slash.
Bayonetta even goes a step further than DMC4 in implementing the gun INTO the combos, rather than flip flopping between using a blade and toggling your guns. It takes a bit of the unnecessary finger dexterity out of the system while still keeping it cutting edge.
I mean I dont see how you can really give the man slack for this. Its like saying SamShow was the innovator of a “RAGE” meter and SNK pioneered the ABCD format, and nobody accuses fighters of copying SNK games from the 90s.
Sidenote, I was watching some guy play DMC2 on youtube and he almost made that shit look fun.
I saw a trailer for this game a loonnnggg ass time ago, the horrible " DO YEW WANT TA TOUCH MEH?!" trailer (if you’ve seen it you will know what I am talking about). It made this game look awful, but now I am pretty excited for it.
But srsly the first trailer for this game is funny, worth a look.
witch time, no thanks i’ve already played viewtiful joe.
transforming into an aminal to attack bad guys, no thanks i’ve already played okami (not transformation, i know, but still aminal combat)
switching styles on the fly to create awesome attack chains for big damage, no thanks i’ve already played devil may cry.
rocket tonfas?
well damn, you got me.
i guess i’ll buy the game just for that.
/edit: and no, i wasn’t expecting “edgy” swordsmanship or whatever verbal diarrhea ya ya pants is spewing, but prime example; virgil’s stances/movements are parallel to the basic stances/movements of iado.
with that in mind, yes, i find bayonetta’s sword stance horrible.
furthermore, “Bayonetta even goes a step further than DMC4 in implementing the gun INTO the combos, rather than flip flopping between using a blade and toggling your guns. It takes a bit of the unnecessary finger dexterity out of the system while still keeping it cutting edge…”
i hardly call that cutting edge, more like dumbing it down, street fighter 4’ing it, if you will.
while unnecessary, i like using guns in between weapon attacks (or devil arm) in order to create large chains, it took a degree of skill.
