Game is going to be hell of a lot of fun to play. I get the feeling in the newest trailer they sped up the speed of the game to make it look faster.
Actually I think that just might be the movie running at 60fps?
I wonder what the music’ll be like? I don’t think I’ve heard enough of it in the trailers.
Combat system looks good.
Im actually pretty excited for this game i saw the E3 trailer and i was simply blown away i pre ordered it right after i saw it.
Im unfamiliar with the firearms by Prada and Marc Jacobs this season.
Oh sweet, DMC5: Dante’s Mom.
its what the stylish gangstas on the streets of beverly hills equip ya hear?
Well, they’re on pg. 75 of the fall catalog.
the music on the new trailer is sex
It looks interesting, but for those of us (mainly myself and like a few japanese dudes/dudets) who really took the time to learn the DMC3/DMC4 combat system; I’ll be impressed if it even has a quarter of the combat depth that capcom managed to put into this genre.
Not to say Im a DMC fanboy trolling, Bayonetta’s aesthetics and wirefuness look sick, but I still want to be able to beat bosses without touching the ground, and that level of super niche combat depth was not in the first DMC.
Come to think of it, DMC4’s combat is a lot like Genei-jin tho in terms of the learning curve…
Eh, dont give it too much. I think DMC4 and even DMC 2 and 3’s systems were also based greatly around evasion and knowing attack patterns. Once you have those down, it was nothing to blast through the game.
It can be a bit tough, but I dont think the “learning curve” was more steep than say…Ninja Gaiden or God of War on Hard. Where you had to actually attack some enemies with specific combos, in DMC you can pretty much hack n slash every enemy in the game.
The hardest thing about DMC4 was trying to get the just frame rev-up slashes. If youre patient enought you can always shoot the enemies to death. Blah.
Yeah my biggest complaint with DMC as of late is that you don’t really need to do any thinking anymore. You can do whatever you want in any way you like. Strategy isn’t really needed as long as you know your opponents patterns it’s not like there is any intelligent decision making on how to go on the offensive. Just do whatever you want. DMC1 made you think about how to go on the offensive and even the type of weapon for a given situation. It wasn’t perfect (Grande Roll>DT for the win a lot of times) but at least the effort was there. DMC3 and 4 lack this quality in almost all it’s fights in favor of custom comboing everything. In DMC3 you have to be smart with Fallen (and fuck those ass holes) and in DMC4 the Blitz. Boss wise DMC4 makes you approach Sanctus and perhaps Agnus smartly but that’s about it.
That’s my opinion on the issue at least. The Genei-Jin comparison is really good. Genei-Jin is gay as hell to. It’s not a steep learning curve.
You people bitching about Devil May Cry playing them in DMD Mode? If not. Try to hack n slash you way through DMD in DMC3:SE, DMC4 or even just Bloody Palace in either game and see how far that gets you.
Stoked about Bayonetta, wonder if it will get a Special Edition version on launch with some dope swag haha.
I finished both DMC1 2 3 and 4 on DMD multiple times (aside from2).
I’ve completed all of them on DMD and S ranked bloody palace in 4, and I gotta say I agree with radiantsilvergun.
DMC1 was kind of like an homage to 2D beat em ups, except it was 3D and you fought crazy giant bosses. with 3+4 the combat evolved in terms of what options you had and how cool it looked, but it didn’t evolve strategically. you had to focus on mixing up your attacks to rack up stylish points, but all that did was net you more red orbs and a better ranking. it made the game less of a beat em up and more of a combo demo system, you know? 3+4 weren’t so bad on DMD really. the last vergil fight was tough, though. 4 was pretty straight forward.
don’t get me wrong… I spent a lot of time messing around with the combat in 3+4, and it was plenty fun, but DMC1 as a whole is classic. the others, not so much.
and DMC1 had the best music
imo
Guys I’m not talking about combat depth as it applies to opponents patterns.
When you’ve played one of these games for +300 hours you dont get hit, kinda like old school mega man.
I’m mainly referring to DMC3/4 depth in the combo system and the variety of attack options.
If you wanna see what I mean in saying DMC1/2 didnt have this just look at the TST4 entries on youtube (sorry but I cant link to videos), there you can see the best entries for all DMC games and the limits of the first 2 and the expansiveness of the 4th become really apparent.
Heres hoping Bayonetta as more to it than stoic enemy patterns and the worlds hottest librarian.
but DMD isnt hard. Rotfl. Dante takes more damage and enemies have more stamina.
When you know attack patterns what difference does that make? And like I said, you can shoot all the enemies to death it youre desperate. Lvl 3 Charge Shot is broken.
CS3 may get you through the game, but it isn’t as fun, fast, or stylish. You will never get S ranks spamming CS3 and nothing else.
DMD is also more than less health for player and more health for enemies. On DMD, enemies also move faster, giving you less reaction time between their signals and their actual attacks. There are also a few cases of them having new moves in Hard/DMD that they don’t have in Normal. And finally on DMD enemies will also Devil Trigger if not killed within a certain time frame.
Yeah dude youre absolutely right. I just thought he was insinuating that DMD was harder than GoW or NG on hard.
IMO DMC4’s “Hard” should be “Normal.”
Now what I actually LOVE about DMD mode is that enemies that wouldnt appear til around mission 8 or 9 are on missions 1 and 2. Thats why im so disappointed in Resident Evil 5’s “professional mode.”
