Bay Area Stick Builders/Modders

I’m posting up here an to find other Bay Area Street Fighter players who are into building/modding sticks. I’m hoping that this thread can also be used to get joystick building/modding sessions going or for asking for local help/advice.

(I’m also wondering if anyone has a table saw that can help me cut a 6 angled cut for the face plate/plexi of my stick boxes…)

To introduce myself:

I’ve been meeting more and more SRKers into this sort of thing. So speak up and be heard!

I’m interested and have done a bunch of research, but have no tools. I have a few ideas I’d like to try and find a way to get done.

I want to buy a case from some one but I can do some PS3 mods with some parts from Lizard licks. I use American joysticks tho I could never get used to Japanese ones. I am in SJ area OK with soldering.

Yo I have some previous experience with woodwork, soldering/wiring, pcb hacking, and the like. I would be willing to help some locals who need it. Don’t have that saw though, sorry thrust! I’m in Fairfield.

@tenelen: Hey man, you’re in luck. I’m building boxes out of MDF on Tuesday. If you’re serious about copping on a case, I can send pics.

If anyone wants to come or check out what the cases look like holler at me.

@rimrattler: Oh shit, man, I didn’t know you were into this kinda thing until I saw some of your posts in tech talk recently. It’s good to know people in the area who are into this.

good shit Mike!

I can do EVERYTHING. I’m also a mod in the tech section.

I’m willing to give advice.

I’m willing to help, I’m in the city. I used to be a car audio installer, worked in the industry for over 6 years, have a decent amount of tools.

some one just give me the price to make me a stick? i can provide a HFS3 shell
and of course i would want this for the PS3

Thanks, albert. Good to know that big names are willing to help out.

Right on, bro. Do you or anyone else happen to have a table saw, and are located around the peninsula? I’ve been doing work with miter/circular saws, and they just can’t do the precise cuts I need.

You could get a quote

Seriously tho… there are plenty of places, but you need to be more precise on what you need/want. I hear Electric Trouble in San Jose has been making some sticks, and it’s even better that he’s local.

How precise do you need it? If you clamp a straight edge onto a table, you can still get a decent cut out of a circular saw. Cuts for sticks shouldn’t be long, so the guide can keep your saw pretty consistent for those short runs. I have a table saw and live in the city. I know a few installers in the San Mateo area, I can ask around.
