Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Thread

“My PC FPS history is this |___________________________________________| long.” Is pretty much what I’ve been seeing in the last couple of posts.

I just wanted to say that I didn’t make my post to bash console gamers. To an extent, I envy them. Console gaming is cheap (compared to PC) and it is so simple. You buy a console, you buy a game, and Xbox Live and that’s it. No drivers, no patches, its all automatic. It’s a very attractive proposition. Thats why the player base is larger. Developers are also making console oriented games and PC gamers get a quick and dirty console port. MW2 is a perfect example. “We’re gonna give you less features and charge you even more! Mwhaha!”

Someone mentioned that console gaming is good because companies try to make their consoles last as long as possible. That is the complete opposite of PC enthusiasts, where things are bleeding edge. Because consoles must stay around for longer, developers don’t make games that can really push hardware, because it must work on PC AND console and that in turn slows down progress of hardware. Crysis is 3 years old and there still isn’t a game that looks quite as good as it does. Why? Where is the money when only a tiny percentage of people can play it, much less get acceptable FPS on multiplayer.

Although I recently built an i7 920 machine, my PC before that was an Athlon XP Barton with 1.5 GB of ram and an ATI 9600XT. I didn’t really care about upgrading because I played CS, Q3 and UT for many years and had it not started dying, I might’ve waited longer. I definitely understand how much money is costs to get into PC gaming and how painful it is to watch your machine go obsolete while console gamers enjoy long life cycles.

Another good post.

But anyway.

PP2k + Red Dot + Magnum ammunition = Mother F’in Rape. Love that thing to death.

I just unlocked the M93R. It’s ok, to say the most. I think I’ll stick to my Colt.

Stay on topic plz.

Honestly, the whole you have to upgrade every year is a complete myth, there are people of course who do that, but that’s because that’s their hobby. Games that are made on both console and PC, the PC version isn’t significantly upgraded so that you have to go out and update new hardware, if you have a PC that’s as powerful as PS3/xbox, it will be good for the rest of the generation. When you also mention cost, PC gamers tend to pay less per game (exception MW2) and because of mod tool support and dedicated servers, PC games last A LONG TIME (see counter strike 1.5, 1.6) The community keeps these games going. On Console, people move to the next big thing quite frequently, paying an additional 10 dollars each game, which adds up quickly too. In other words, gaming in general is expensive lol, because I spent 120 on MW2, both ps3 and PC versions, one to play with friends, the other for my self-satisfying needs lol.

Anyways, Im done talking about consoles because When i do I get reminded of that horrible experience i had called MW2. BC2 FOR LIFE!

Does everyone been getting random disconnects? That’s really my biggest complaint with this game, and the crashes. Also the server browser is kinda clunky, not being to add favorites to server. Gameplay wise I can’t stop playing this shit. They just need to also add better admin tools to like rebalance teams. Stacked teams seem to be an issue right now.

Is there anyone doing youtube commentaries like Hutch or WingsofRemption was for MW2? I actually learned a thing or two from them playing mw2 believe it or not. Maybe I just need to practice more, I have horrible trouble killing as a medic or engineer at the moment, discovered a new love for assault though, however I can only play on levels without vehicles because most of my teammates don’t know how to take out choppers or tanks it seems.

Show me some of your sweet spots for recon some time, I’m too addicted with rushing and bumrushing to figure out some nice recon spots.

Well depends on your scope as well, although I can still show you some. There are multiple ones though, people do not realize you can actually snipe from quite a distance away. You absolutely must learn to lead your shot though for the good long range shots. Man I am sick of people on XBL playing Battle of Duty.

I don’t think there’s a reason to not use the colt. It just outclasses every other pistol.

The problem with PC is money. When you can “buy” an advantage, it is no longer an even playing field. It is the equivalent of steroids in baseball; except the practice is accepted. You’re basically saying that poor people shouldn’t try to be competitive because they can’t “find better” (meaning afford better).

Anyone can learn to overclock and fine tune a mouse, but if they can’t afford a top-of-the-line rig, then they are already out of the running.

I need to play with you guys on PC I finally got a decent headset but I’m probably gonna trade it in for a Medusa 5.1 or Sennheiser HD 555

Anyway my tag is PoXxX

I’m playing Medic exclusively for now until they nerf the M60. The free kills I got on that thing are amazing, might as well plat the easiest gun in the game. About to hit my 3rd gold star.

Just started using this today…the magnum ammo on it almost pointless though. It decreases the amount of shots to kill someone at 100% from 7/8 to 6/7 depending on range. On most guns, I’d care a bit more about decreasing the amount of bullets required by one, but the PP2k has the highest RoF of any gun in the game with the possible exception of the MG3. You’re not going to count on that one bullet as much as you’d probably count on more powerful rockets.

I need the extra couple of damage because I can get some nice sprays on multiple players. Saves me some bullets for the next dude next to him. Gustav’s damage is OP anyway =P

I’ll have to try the PP2K with a Red Dot. I am loving the UMP 45 with Magnum Ammo though.

My favorite gun atm is the VSS with a Red Dot + Magnum Ammo.

Good games the other night, PS3 guys. I just got my platinum in GOWIII, so I should be going back between this and WKC again. We were conquest raping that entire night.

EDIT: And the PP 2000 is indeed God’s gift to the engineer class.

Put the Red Dot Sight on the Type 88 Sniper today and had a load of fun. I was suprised by how effective it was at close-medium range. It felt a lot like the FAL from MW2. Think I will snip up some bits of footage from it and commentate it once my next video has been uploaded.

Fair enough, I think I’m going to try the SMG Accuracy perk instead of the magnum ammo or the mk ii explosives for a bit. I don’t think I ever really used it except when I didn’t have magnum ammo but now I start seeing some guys in the 20’s and 30’s that rock the marksmanship training all the time.

And I thought it was just me. This is my defacto standard. I prefer it to the M60 w/ acog. The only problem is that you run out of bullets FAST!!! I was starting to wonder if Red Dot + any gun is beastly? Also, in regards to engineer, I haven’t used the Gustav yet, but really like the standard rocket (the first one)…

Also, played w/ DN3000 today. GG man!

Gustav may have the least amount of damage but it has the widest splash radius. It’s perfect for anti-personnel. It’s also the fastest traveling rocket which is why most people use it.

The Gustav is my go to for chopper defense.
