Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Thread

GG’s… Yea that probably the worst spawn raping ever. I’ll b e on again tonight for sure.

I got this game on 360, and it’s broken my endless CoD playing. I prefer to CoD, probably because I’m having more fun and I enjoy the squad aspect more so.

I got up to level 20 so far in a week, however since I usually play at the end of night, it kinda fucks me over since the game seems to die at night. I wish more people would play at 2am lol

Just got this game today, almost had a joygasm. I didn’t do very well went 4 kills 5 deaths with a medic(I don’t have anything unlocked either) but the lack of auto aim is awesome. Everything felt legit.

Get a kill with the Defib/Repair tool, it’s pretty damn satisfying.

All I play is HardCore too, I used to hate it at first but now I love it.

Unlocked the G3 and I love the iron sights on it, its almost as good as the iron sights on the G3 from COD 4.

Pro Tip for attacking on Rush Mode as a Medic. If you see a guy low on health but he just won’t stop for you to heal him then kill him then revive him again. You save a ticket and heal him to 100 at the same time.

i played the fuck out of bf2142 from 2007-2008 (brigadier general, almost all the medals, badges, pins, and ribbons, including the knife 30 people in a round) and that game got no love here. WTF. but this thread already has 30 pages?

so sad :sad::sad::sad::sad:

LOL. Nice pro-tip.

This is nice. I always have a hard time taking down choppers!!! Any tips? Fucking annoying that bunch.

Unfortunately, you played the shittiest ‘good’ Battlefield. 1942 and BF2 were both far superior to 2142, which is why you probably didn’t find much love for it on this site. I honestly stopped playing it after 3-4 months and Team Fortress 2 was honestly more fun at the time. The only unique awesome point of gameplay 2142 offered imo was Titan mode.

Here’s my rules of thumb for BC2 right now

#1: If you’re going to hang out and snipe, don’t squad up. You simply waste respawn points for your team mates.

#2: You can teleport through walls by pressing ‘E’ on the outside of a machine gun emplacement. It’s a great way to take M-COM stations because defending teams usually don’t blow any of the walls out around them, they wait for those holes to know if they need to defend.

#3: Most maps have ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ routes for ATVs. You can usually jump them on top of a building and keep driving along routes enemies don’t suspect. I’ve jumped it on top of a building and blown out the ceiling to drop down onto unsuspecting enemies before.

#4: Walls don’t affect the ability to use something behind them. This is especially useful for M-COM stations behind walls. You can arm/disarm them from places people aren’t looking at.

#5: If you’re within 10m of people the fastest way to kill them is to knife them. To do this start the animation before you get to them, you want the animation to be finishing on the down-swing of your knife as soon as you’re within reach. This is more effective than most weapons (except for shotguns) at very close ranges.

#6: When playing Assault, it usually behooves you to keep your grenade launcher out and firing it first upon seeing an enemy. It’s the fastest way on average to kill anyone and will immediately increase the number of enemies you can interact with in quick succession while still living.

#7: When playing Medic, don’t revive people when their body is still being covered with fire. Most of the time it’s better in that situation to just hold on for them to spawn on you or their squad mates. Don’t make them wake up to die, you might get points for it but it’s ultimately an exercise in futility that will just get you spotted/killed as well.

Most importantly: Basic teamwork overrides people with amazing trigger fingers in this game. There are too many ways to work together and achieve greater results than the sum of their parts to ignore this. Don’t forget it, sticking next to your squad mates and making slow progress is almost always better than dying 9 times before you can finally arm that M-COM station only to have it defused.

Other people should post up what they’ve got so far.

I bought the game the other day, still getting used to all the differences, loving your tips you keep randomly posting, I’m being a bit stupid and trying to figure some things out on my own, the knife one is good to know

Tried to find out what the deal was with no sticky crouch in BC2, it’s annoying, so I went to Google… Yehhhh… Google made me feel uncomfortable

Had a mad streak on a Conquest map, i cant remember which one - big desert with the town in the middle - went recon spawned in a bombed out building, dude i spawned with died and i hid for ~20 seconds, then popped out - a group of 4-5 people in the building opposite, start popping them off with easy clean headshots, medic is getting them up, so i pop him then pop the others again, tank rolls up behind without my realising and it starts shooting, i love the effect of blowing your eardrums, thats all i get to realise the mfer is right below me
jump out a bombed out wall behind it, pop a few C4 and blow it to shit

they caught on by then, but damn, felt epic

BF2142 was the only BF I’ve played. Meh, I thought it was super enjoyable. YOU GET TO RIDE AROUND IN MECHS! MECHS!!!

But I guess I’ll check out this one too if so many people are playing

Sounds are stupid, I was in my usual solid snake mode and in one map there were 3 people sniping from a rooftop that I could see so I climb some stairs and see 5 altogether sniping from the rooftop, 1 is watching the stairs opposite to me and another in the uav booth. So I make a mad dash and stab three, fourth turns opposite me to throw down ammo so I spray him and his partner. I finally get the dude looking down the stairs and shot rather than stab the uav dude. No communication between them or there’s probably so much shit going on that they couldn’t hear me picking them off.

The only advice I can offer is from someone who much prefers to play the Engineer than anything else in this game:

  1. Know your role. You aren’t Rambo and even Assault guys aren’t. You aren’t going to win any one on one battles with them and the same goes with Medics with T88s or M60s. The element of surprise is the greatest asset an Engineer has in fighting against everything else in this game since our damage output is lower. There’s a reason why all of our weapons have suppressors on them so abuse it!

  2. On that same note, remember that enemy armor in this game doesn’t want to see an AT guy at all. Tank vs. tank battles tend to become duels with whoever landing the first shot wins. Engineers can displace far quicker and better than any armor can; it’s paramount that if you’re trying to harass or blow up armor that you move around as much as you can and always hide behind anything. More often than not I have an easier time killing armor on foot since it’s easier to hide, give the enemy armor a false sense of security that makes them repair the tank and get knifed soon thereafter. You’d be surprised how often that happens too.

  3. Be mindful on using any armor. An Abrams is only as good as it’s pilot and if there’s someone to repair it in the midst of battle they’re that much harder to take down. Always have an Engineer on board since you’ll last way longer and gives you plenty of breathing space on any map. Case in point: I piloted a BDMA (the armor with grenade launchers and an AA gun) to the first set of MCOMs targeting the right one. Between driving back and forth between the massive concrete blocks and walls bordering the coast I was able to rack up 15 kills and blow up the MCOM since there was an Engineer repairing the whole way through even with the plenty of anti armor guys floating around. Likewise if there wasn’t an Engineer I’d be a goner after the first two or three kills.

  4. AT mines are vastly underrated on Rush Defense. Just lay it down on any popular road to an MCOM and eventually someone is bound to run over them. It’s a free kill(s) and 250-300 points so why not? Of course just lay them down early enough but otherwise you’ll definitely make any enemy armor think twice before rolling it. More often than not they’ll try to blow it up themselves but leave themselves open in the process.

Clearly haven’t played with AKS-74U with magnum ammo. :>
Taking out assaults & snipers like THIS.

It all depends where you’re playing. I usually play on my clan’s server, fairly decent level of play, can’t rambo there. All the pubs I’ve played on: rambo away.

The tracer is hard to use. Whenever helis are in the air, all you see are red streaks flying PAST the choppa…

Don’t get me wrong, 2142 is realllly good. It just didn’t have the hype and player base that some of the other Battlefield games have gotten. This is especially true of Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2. 2142 is also one of the instrumental games in starting the more in-depth version of the unlock system. There were more choices to go through and EA was clearly trying to make way for a larger weapon-base. I think the main reason 2142 lost out was because of the way some of the vehicles ineracted with infantry and also because of the relatively poor map quality compared to previous battlefield games. Iwo Jima, Strike at Karkand, Sharqi Penninsula, etc. etc., there were 24/7 maps for almost every Battlefield map before that with a few exceptions.

Anyways, I don’t mean to diminish your fun. I really did enjoy 2142 but by that point I guess I might have been a little more jaded than I should have been. Bad Company 2 lets you blow up walls though. Walls.

So, how do you put the [SRK] in front of your tag name in the game again?

EDIT: I bought some Turtle Beach headphones, and the sounds that are coming from them are soundgasmic!!!

Go into that create a squad option and you should be able to make your clan tag.
