Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Thread

I am loving this game. I played on an off with Irennicus and Draeger this past weekend and had a great time. There were buddy list issues and servers were full so it wasn’t like we were in constant contact. With Skype or Ventrilo we could easily synchronize joining servers. I wouldn’t mind rocking an SRK tag either.

I’m currently dying a lot more than necessary due to my MW2 habits, but I’m getting the hang of things. My K/D ratio is finally moving up, at .83 I think.
Nothing beats the feel of a good squad actually playing to their classes strengths steam rolling the opposition.

I still need to learn the recoil. It’s not as unforgiving as CS 1.6, yet you can’t spam full auto like MW2.

Can anyone recommend a good gamer’s microphone that (here’s the trick) DOESN’T cover up your ears? I have awesome BOSE speakers with a sweet ass sub, it emulates surround sound. There’s no reason for me to go to an inferior sound system for any other reason than voice chat. Can someone help a brother out? (Also, those desktop mics that just stand there won’t work, I’m looking for something that kinda clips ‘around’ your ear without covering it or along those lines)

^^I seen these at best buy. They’re isolated earbuds with a mic (like cell phone earphones). But i don’t know if they’re good or not though.

edit: just reread what you said, my bad.

My tactic when playing as recon: Constantly scan the horizon, whoring out the spot button.

I shared this tactic with (I think?) Draeger last night. Check this out…

This only works when you’re DEFENDING Nelson Bay and the enemy has blown up the first set of M-COM stations. Immediately retreat to the building that B is now located in (the new location) and between it and the water on the edge of a map is one of those shielded machine gun emplacements. This is the best machine gun emplacement in the game. There’s several reasons for this A) Nelson Bay has no pesky vehicles to blow the shit out of you B) There’s almost no safe place to snipe you from in this one and C) In order for most people to get within grenading range of you they have to remain in your cross-hair for about 3 seconds.

So here’s what you do: Run to the Heavy MG before the enemy can run past their starting allotment of map space, cut down as many trees as you can, and just keep hitting q over the horizon. Almost every single red arrow that pops up you CAN KILL. The Heavy MG range can almost not be overstated. As long as you keep the bead on people correctly and account for bullet travel/drop, you’re golden. When you’re not spotting people or shooting them, keep cutting down trees. Nelson Bay without a forest to hide the enemy becomes SO MUCH EASIER TO DEFEND. The only time I lost that set of points (and the match, actually) we were heavily outnumbered and they STILL had to bum rush A so they wouldn’t have to deal with my fire as much.

I’ve died in it once, there was an extremely good 40MM Grenade shot (those almost never kill me in that emplacement). I’ve not played Recon yet and while they’ve called mortar strikes down near me they can never seem to get it centered directly above that machine gun so I always manage to live through those. Try it out guys.

That’s the thing about the server I play on, yes there are still pubs, but most of us are on Ventrilo actually trying to coordinate, and even then it doesn’t take a large amount of people to get a bomb set and protected. I think we added the Vent server info into the server description now too.

The only thing I’ve run into is, mortars have actually killed me there, every now and then hand thrown grenades will bounce behind you, and close enough to you, to kill rather than hurt. Also being stuck on a team full of Recons who can’t even spot worth a damn, let alone shoot and remain hidden, very crafty, very skilled RPG and 40MM grenade using players have been able to kill me a few times and blow up the MG in the process.

Even when those very specific situations happen you’re basically still guaranteed a ton of kills, vehicle points, and good times. Unless the other team decides you’re not worth the effort and the ENTIRE team hugs the coast line out of your line of sight to kill all of them. That tactic met with the average recon retard on your team, of which this game I’m thinking of there were plenty amongst every class, netted me some kills and two quickly lost MCOMS.

The best part about that MG isn’t even how good it is, Irennicus isn’t exaggerating, but sniping opposing Recon players who still think, three or four bullets later when I come back to kill them after killing what I assume are Engineers and Assaults, they’re just not shooting right. This next shot WILL hit me in the face, going through the view port. Good times.

Can you guys post whether you’re on PS3/360/PC?

I’d love to add you guys, but I just don’t know who’s on what system. Also, if you can update the first post dn3000, it would be greatly appreciated.

360 guy here.

Recommendation: Set your thread view to 100 posts per page and just quickly skim this thread. Otherwise you’ll just wait for an incomplete list from the people who bother to post.

(I’m on the PC)

Irennicus’ location on Nelson Bay is legit. Camped it out two games and the only thing that got me off it was mortar fire. On the other hand I died just twice getting knifed both times but otherwise it looked like the end of Rambo 4.

As long as you do two or three shot bursts it won’t overheat and give the illusion that there’s far more people on that side of the map. People tend to get timid or crazy brave at this time and it’s +50 for the latter.

Of course.

Rush Mode/Conquest:

Point your crosshairs at an MCOM station and press the back/select button. You will see it get ‘marked’ and then you will also hear a verbal communication by your character to either ‘defend/attack this position’ or the many other things they say. When/if you or an enemy is within the vicinity of that MCOM/flag, and you get a kill, an assist, a spot assist, ANYTHING nearly, you will get points for that and you will see, depending on what happened, how many points afterwards.

If/when you’ve marked an objective, and your teammates arm or are firing at say, an MCOM station you could get MAD points for the damage they’re doing. I’ve went well over 600 points, and all I did was arm it—while everyone else was firing rockets and C4ing the thing. Yeah, that was just one MCOM station. THink of the possibilities when you’ve got 6 on most maps. O_O. Or many flags to recapture. _.

Same with defending an MCOM. It’s marked. You disarm. Your teammates are clearing out attackers. MAD POINTS. (as long as they’re still near it).

Hope that gives you some idea.

lol Irenn, the time you joined, the server was just reset and we lost half the players in it. Felt scammed since a me and a friend lost maybe 5k in xp haha.

So yeah, that server we were on is probably my favorite. Semi-HC: no killcam, full hud and somewhat stronger weapons. Perfect mix.

I actually just ran into a player who was good enough with hand grenades to throw one at me. All it took was me immediately getting out and jumping over the fence blowing him away and getting back in. Shit was hilarious. This position is GDLK.

YES. The short burst combined with the high volume of the fire does exactly this. Especially when people have trees getting shot down all around them, they start to do stupid shit.

Huh, I really didn’t notice that, but I’m going to try it out more. I was on off and on a lot the last couple of days because I’ve had a lot of irl shit to do. I probably was only on for a bit and then got off while I was still distracted. Been dealing with break-up shit and court. Not fun times.

Also…you guys should post up your current kit(s). I’m really digging the customization and am curious to try out different sets.

Right now I’m rocking Assault/Engineer all the way, and have a kit for each.

Assault…
Primary: AN-94
Sidearm: WWII 1911 .45
Spec #1: Grenade Bandoleer
Spec #2: Magnum Ammunition
Spec #3: Vehicle Alternate Weapon

Engineer…
Primary: AKS-74U
Sidearm: WWII 1911 .45
Spec #1: Explosives Leg Pouches
Spec #2: Explosives Mark II
Spec #3: Vehicle Alternate Weapon

I’ll switch to the SAIGA shotgun every now and then and I’ll play it by ear if I need the extended magazine/12g slugs.

Recon/Medic Hybrid
Primary: M60
Secondary: M9
Spec 1: 4x Optical
Spec 2: LMG+
Spec 3: V ALT

Heals on Wheels
Primary: MG36
Secondary: 1911
Spec 1: Medkit Improved Range
Spec 2: Lightweight
Spec 3: Motion Sensor

Light weight is a spec one slot.

Does anyone who has a PS3 and plays want to start setting up times to get on and play? Can people post what time zone they are in? I am on the East Coast

Fabi0 I will be on tonight to play. Last time we tried I think you got DCed?

Go ahead and add me people my PSN handle is Medac

A good set of headphones that are not to heavy that I like to use are the Turtle Beach P21

The main classes I run with consistent kits are Assault and Engineer.

Assault
Primary: XM8 Prototype
Sidearm: WWII 1911 .45
Gadget: 40mm Grenade Launcher
Spec #1: Explosive Leg Pouch
Spec #2: None
Spec #3: Vehicle Alternate Weapon/Reload/Optics

Occasionally I’ll run the F2000 and use the 40mm Shotgun since it burns through bullets.

Engineer
Primary: AKS-74u
Sidearm: WWII 1911 .45
Gadget: M136/AT440mm Grenade Launcher
Spec #1: Grenade Bandoleer
Spec #2: SMG Marksmanship
Spec #3: Vehicle Alternate Weapon/Reload/Optics

Medic and Recon I change too often, usually running shotguns with them instead of their primary weapons. Saiga plus the shotgun perk is ridiculous, you can spam it from midrange and still down people. Flanking squads is easy with the motion mines too.

Can you run extended mags and slugs at the same time?

All i have been playing is assault so…

Primary: M416
Secondary: 1911
Spec 1: Red Dot
Spec 2: Magnum Ammo
Spec 3: Alt

got my 4th gold star for the grenade launcher, checked my stats and found I shot like 1000 grenades and only got 207 kills rofl.
