Bungie went through Hell getting those bullet physics working out, not that the fans appreciated it (I don’t know if you heard of the drama with the Battle Rifle, gotta love kids telling developers who researched real guns how they should work in their game). Anyway, I love your insights into BC2, you’re on the money about it all.
I’ve been waiting on BC2 even while playing MW2 (not too big on CoD, but all my buds were on it and I go where the party is). Can’t wait for an FPS game where K/D means squat and team work feels like team work.
How’s the new demo feel? When I played the beta on PS3 it felt almost exactly the same as the first game. I loved the first game, one of my favorite FPS’s so far this gen.
Apparently this works, I haven’t tried it on my q66 but I get around 50 fps anyway, so that command line might work for some people having those new i5/7 procs.
edit - I just recon between the m24 with mortar or the pump shotgun with c4. C4 is ridiculous on crates, I think it does 50% damage.
I haven’t played the 360 demo, but there’s no blackout time when you zoom in on PC. On the ps3 version it took some time to bring up the scope; I think it’s just as long as it was in the COD games.
There’s a way to run the game in dx9 mode, that might help with framerate issues as well.
Forgot to say, thanks…I cranked it up a bit (read: all the way to max) when I first booted the game since I usually have to- lowered brightness now and the blindingly white clouds of snow disappeared and I could actually see shit. Massive difference.
(who thunk it)
Another difference between 360 and PC is the boundary in the first set of objectives. PC players can only get to the base of “sniper hill” while 360 defenders can get all the way to the top.
I want someone’s opinion who actually knows about FPSes (read: FluffyM, Draeger, Korynthyan, or whoever) to let me know if they prefer this to Battlefield 2. BF2 was my crack and the only FPS in the 00’s to rival my play time with TF2.
Just wait til (if you haven’t already) unlocked the specialization for carrying extra explosives. Crates can be 1-shotted. And it’s sweeeeeet when you’re being sneaky and the other team is running around trying to figure out how their crates disappeared without a charge (the newbies anywayz.) LOL
Hahah, good. For some odd reason, DICE’s default settings are wayyyy to bright—dunno why.
A lot of veterans of the series are mocking the BFBC series in comparison to their love for BF2 (and particularly the higher player-count), and most of them are just patiently (or rather very aggrevated-like) waiting for a pure BF3. In all honesty, I’ve always been aware of the BF series but nothing stood out for me ***UNTIL ***the Frostbite Engine. Since then (BFBC), I’ve been hooked.
And now, *because *of the Frostbite Engine, I too am looking forward already to BattleField 3 (and hope it’s also a PC, X360, PS3 game).
I enjoyed sniping in BF 2 the most. I don’t like how they took out prone in BF BC 2, but I can see why they did do it (prone was beast in BF 2) The thing I hated about BF 2 and all BF games is the shitty ass hit registration. In COD 4 and MW 2, when you hit someone… you hit them and they feel it. In BF 2 its usually luck if you can kill a guy from far away with anything other than a sniper rifle.
Thing I don’t like about the sniper rifle in BF BC 2 is that you NEED to land a head shot if you are anywhere in mid to short range or you are dead.
I hate how they did knifing in this game, they shouldve made it auto follow when you press the knife button like how it was on COD4/MW2.
PS: KORYNTHYAN can you stop posting in white? Some of us use the white background SRK theme and we can’t see anything you post unless we highlight your text, which is a pain in the ass to do every single time.
I can only speak for myself but there are a few things that the previous BFs had that should be back, namely the quick select response circle that made calling out tanks or infantry way easier. The streamlining of classes and upgrades is a welcome edition has getting badges (i.e. points) is pretty easy to do in any game and unlocks go by quick. Within five hours of play I’ve already unlocked most of what you can for the Engineer in this beta and you get points for practically anything. A few random heals, repairs and reloads goes a long way for newer items much less headshots, defensive kills and blowing up enemy armor.
All in all it’s a welcome edition and breathe of fresh air compared to the BF2 series. The map we have so far feels pretty concentrated and there’s always more action going on while BF2 had some centralized locations with action going on and everything else was few and far between.
I seriously hope you’re not referring to BF’s, and then specifically, BFBC/2’s projectile physics, where you’re not going to get a shot on ANYTHING (moving that is) because bullets do not fire at the speed of light (as they do like laser beams in all arcade-shooters i.e MW/2, ect). You have to lead your targets (at range, any kit/class)
I personally prefer this, yes, but I also wasn’t too big of a fan of BF2 since I think bullet physics etc work nicely for snipers but are nothing but annoying or frustrating for gameplay as LMG/assault/whatever. So since the bulletdrop with assault rifles over medium to short range seems to have been reduced quite a bit in this and you can actually shoot people without going into prone and there is no prone in the first place, I like this quite a bit better. I’m sure it’s less realistic and what not but tbf realism != fun. Imo. The only thing I don’t like over BF2 is how the medic class works (the healthpacks).
And like Draeger said, at least in rush mode it seems a lot more action-packed.
That not working is just a bug in the beta, apparently.
Also, awesome avatar.
Does anyone know if/when they are going to increase the rank-cap in the beta?
Capping it at 11 when it goes up to 40 is kinda lame… :xeye:
