Yea, I meant “mini” as in mini-game priced. -its like a dollar, right?-
At a low price there’s little reason to not get it.
Got vids of a hard combo from Khai, Jiro, Ryke, H.W. and Arvids challenge modes so ppl without the game and can see how the game works.

I’m still playing to I’ll record more
Bought this, messed around for a few minutes, found Shinji’s infinite, died a little inside. The cancel system feels both fun and trashy as heck. They have a great start, but some things need to get patched pretty quick or it’s just a game of who gets the first hit.
Its an indie game for $1 so its still good for what it is
Regardless of its shortcomings, that’s what we’re here for.
We tell them the problems, they patch them and HOPEFULLY we’ll bet a better sequel down the road
Yep. I think he called it “Shadow Academy” back at that time.
Edit: “Showdown Academy”. Found the old blog of it: http://sdacademy.blogspot.com/
Oh, I know. I review a lot of the XBLIG stuff (points to signature). Really, you could throw a buck at nearly anything remotely decent, and I think BHSB is worth that and then some. But for people like us who play fighting games with the intention of finding the most broken crap and using it like the abusive whores we are, well…finding infinites within minutes of play makes it difficult to warrant putting more time into it. And with games that are as cheap as XBLIG titles, money isn’t the issue. Time is.
All that said, Mattrified (dev) stated that, after he’s done converting the game to XNA 4.0 from 3.1 (Microsoft’s requirement), they’ll work on patching the game.
Dev. Replies
Hey,
So, I’m Mattrified or simply Matt, as Hogosha recently posted, and am the main dev. behind the XBLIG version of Battle High. Anyway, just wanted to thank people for playing and critiquing the game constructively. Hopefully in the coming weeks / months, we can develop some patches to make the game more enjoyable and to eliminate all those nasty infinites everyone is finding. I realize I should have taken a day to play the game and look for ONLY those, but there were various deadlines that made me want to just finish this first iteration and get it out there – the main one being the 3.1 deadline Microsoft set out of the blue…
Anyway, if you have specific things you’d like to tell us to fix or suggestions to make the game a better experience, visit our dev. forum.
Thanks again,
I played the demo just last night with a friend. I’ll show him this thread and encourage him to get it, we had no idea about the challenges or the finer points of this game from a half hour of messing around for fun. I’m glad to know Arvid has a way to combo into his super, I was getting frustrated with every setup or punish attempt getting blocked.
Good job getting this out, Matt. Looking forward to your next Battle High update, or KnockOut, whichever comes first!

Go show 'em your love for finding everything broke.
Thanks for all your feedback. I am under the credits as Sam Kirk.
We will be looking into fixing a lot of things and expanding on our ideas. This game was a labor of love for 3+ years and we plan on building on it even further.
might have to give this a shot.
the game is fun imo, specially for a buck, the only setup thing i think i would do is set throw to lp+lk and overhead to HP+HK so we can set it up SNK STYLE.
Just bought it not only forsupport, but I found it VERY fun and it can be polished a lot.
As Boel said, those attacks should be mapped to those buttons combinationsfor easier use.
Great stuff guys Im already testing some stuff on it!
This
WOW found some SICK stuff with Jiro!
opponent in corner (3 meter cost):
db+jab (stone throw),
jump deep fiercep,
overhead attack,
c.short,
c.fierce p,
df+jab,
walk a bit c.short x 2,
df + fiercep-fiercep,
juggle again with df + jab-jab,
dash cancel the second hit,
juggle fiercek,
cancel df fiercep-fiercep,
dash cancel again the second hit,
juggle fiercek,
cancel with df+fiercep-fiercep,
dash cancel one more time the second hit,
juggle fiercek,
cancel with df+fiercep-fiercep
18 hits about 97% life. just for kicksyou can cancel the last df+fiecep-fiercep with anything even Super, sadly nothing else hits.
Soon a vid by Cellphone wich is what I have in hand right now…
Awesome game btw, I love it. I hope this Jiro stuff DONT get patched haha its too fun toreset the juggle limit with the dash cancels!

So I tried loading this up at a hookup the other day and I got the “You must be connected to Xbox Live to play this game” message. I find this requirement absurd for this (and XBL indie games in general), because most of the indie games don’t have built-in support for online multiplayer or leaderboards. Is there a workaround for this?
So I picked up this game yesterday. So far, so good for me.

Update!
Hey guys,
I just released an update to this game, and it was was approved! If anyone is interested – I know, with MVC3 out, my enthusiasm for it has waned a little, – check it out. Hopefully I finally got rid of a majority of those pesky infinites people have been mentioning.
Also, I have some questions, that if anyone could take the time to answer, we’d appreciate it.
Which of the following would be more important in an update to this game?
[]New characters
[]Improve balancing even more so
[]New moves
[]New single-player features (survival mode or destroy car games )
[]Scoreboards
[]Make Mai more feminine (it’s been requested)
[]New stages / music
[]Make it HD

Anything else?
We’re trying to enter a contest for XBLIG games and want to update the game as best we can before submitting, and having some guidelines would help us out a lot. I’d love to put online play onto that list, but right now, online play is a beyond my skill set in terms of programming.
Anyway, thanks again for playing the game and critiquing; it has and will continue to help us make this and any future projects we do much better.
More characters and stages is good on the priority list for me. The move lists are rather well for right now.
Maybe some voices for the characters too? The matches feel a little quiet.
And don’t do online mode until you or someone on your team knows how to do it right. Id rather not have that feature than have it implemented poorly.

Improve balancing even more so
