Batman/Superman movie announced for 2016

Personally I hope DC never follows the avengers/marvels route…iron man 3 is the scariest movie of 2013.

All Star Superman was so forgettable and random lol. All I remember was Lex luthor acting like he was tripping on acid or x. He was all touching shit and acting all sensitive. Flashpoint was one of the best DC animated movies so far imo. And it even had the best version of Supes in it. One that actually looked like his fans.

I want Jensen Ackles to be Batman, but I don’t want him to be signed onto another terrible movie. Torn.

Man I love ALl Star but the movie wasn’t that great come on man

I love it, its pretty much a modern take on silver age superman which you just never see. A lot of people don’t get it though, the plot is all wrapped up in the first 5 mins, Superman knows hes going to die and theres nothing that can be done, so its basically about him wanting Lois to see the world as he does and a bunch of interlinking adventures until he ‘goes’. I give it major probs for showing the galactic anvil and a fucking star eater!

THIS IS MY PET STAR EATER

3seconds later

…YOU KILLED HIM, NOOOO!

lol c’mon there were some great moments, but so much random shit thrown in on top of a badly paced movie.

PS. I prefer Supes with a long cape

hatersgonnahate

The All Star Superman movie did as good a job as I can imagine any movie doing in capturing the insane idea-driven story of the comic miniseries. And it’s a damn sight better than most of the other direct-to-DVD DC animated movies that I’ve seen. What else is there? Flashpoint? Flashpoint is poop. Doomsday is poop. New Frontier is okay, but it’s kind of poopy. Gotham Knight is several parts good, several parts poop. Public Enemies? Very poop. Apocalypse? Extreme poop. The Elite? Poop.

The Dark Knight Returns is damned good, but it’s kind of an anomaly. Really, I feel bad for dismissing the work of these great producers, considering the strides they made in TV animation… but ever since they moved into 70 minute features, most of their output has been poopy.

HERESY!

Flashpoint was by far the best yet, finally a decent Flash and THOMAS FUCKING WAYNE AS BATMAN WITH GUNS!

Its the closest adaption of DC by miles, if you read new 52 you have to bow instead of nod at the end if you noticed the costumes, loads of characters got killed, Aquaman was hetrosexual, Superman finally used his heat vision the way we all wanted him too, wonder woman was spot on, Slade Wilson even killed a ninja.

Public Enemies I will forever hold dear for the awesome soundtrack and Superman/Batman teaming up to fight the hoardes. Had the best character design up till Flashpoint I thought also.

The rest I can kinda agree with, was majorly let down with the Elites, I mean Superman saying wankers was so off, it would be like in the NA version superman called Manchester Black a muthafucking nigga! instead. Seriously, wtf.

Apocalypse was kinda shite because they made Darkseid too weak and random, though the Big Martha/Wonder Woman vs the Valykres was pretty sweet.

Batman stand alone ovas have all been better, Year One was solid due to the background story of Gordon, which a lot of people know dick about. DKR was pretty much as good as I hoped, very faithful and the toned down character designs worked out good, supes got a bit of a shafting but It was easily overlookable.

My least favourite was the Wonder Woman OVA for reasons too numerable to care to mention.

But Flashpoint being poop? I hope somebody buys you a gremlin for Christmas you bastard.

most of the people in here probably liked the flashpoint comic, which would explain most of the terrible opinions from posters with taste cancer. also liking flashpoint batman because it’s BATMAN WITH GUNS!!! is a laughable reason to like a character. go back to the 90’s for your gun toting, pouch having KEWL HEROS.

I’ll still take any of those moves, except perhaps vs. The Elite, over All-Star Superman. All-Star Superman should have, and could have, been better, but it was just too short. It was a herkey-jerkey ride in an out of gear truck with someone that doesn’t know how to drive a stick. At least all of those other movies had a smooth ride even though some of the plots weren’t as good as All Star Superman… All Star Superman ended up being just that, ASS.

Oh and on Superman vs. The Elite I couldn’t stop starting AT HIS MASSIVE JAW! This seriously distracted me the whole time.

You have to be a troll…there’s just no fucking way you can literally mean any of that.

you can’t possibly be a real human, maybe we should report you for being a spam bot. or how about this, go back to fgd where dbags like you belong.

edit: flashpoint is ok, but everything else he said is agreeable. especially the elite poop, although i would consider that to be explosive diarrrhea given the source material.

Most the issues of DC animated movies sucking has to do with them being DC animated movies lol. That Green lantern one wasn’t too bad as well. Also Wonder Woman was cool too. Mostly all the ones involving superfag are shitty as goody can attest to.

I think it’s just that they’re too short. They could do with 10-15 more minutes of run time. It’s no coincidence that Dark Knight Returns was so damned good. Same goes for Batman: Gotham Knight. A bunch of keep-it-simple vignettes. Some parts were better than others, but overall it was a good watch. These other movies are trying to do too much with too little time.

But hey look on the brightside. ALL of these movies were better than Iron Man: Rise of the Technosnore.

…you people are the reason we get shit like MoS and Wolverine: Origins.

Imma retire to my Hall of Standards. this convo just makes me sad for people.

Pick anything I just said at random and tell me specifically why you find it unacceptable and I’ll be happy to expound.

Flashpoint is good and so are a lot of DC animated films…will good to the extent that they are functionally enjoyable.

However I prefer the DC animated films to the marvel live action films by quite a wide margin but both oddly enough suffer from the same issues. With the DC animated movies, they seem obsessed with keeping the content PG 13 when in most cases the source material can easily pass for a R rating. Secondly the animated films are more of a "inspired by"take on the source material as opposed to legit adaption which is another problem I have with them. Third, while it might be difficult to fit entire comic arcs into 70 mins…perhaps DC animation could look into extending the run time to 120 to avoid this issue.

  • Flashpoint is one of the best one’s they’ve made.

The others were mediocre to good. Definitely the weaker entries, but still way above All Star. I just don’t see anything good about All Star. What redeeming qualities did it have?!? The plot was all over the place, many of the random exploits were random and terrible (seriously that samson and atlus bit was fucking terribad), him being cured was anti-climactic, art style was awful, etc… It’s the only DC animated movie I disliked. I’ve at least felt all the others were watchable, All Star just left me annoyed and wanting my time back. If it did the best job it could translating the mini series…then it was a terrible miniseries.

Any of those other Superman movies listed were superior.

The top 5 DC movies (in no order):

Red Hood, Dark Knight Returns pt1+2, Flashpoint, Justice League Doom, Return of the Joker

best superman was likely Unbound.

(my initial knee jerf “WTF” was because when I read Doomsday I thought DOOM and Gotham Knight I thought DKR, had to recheck the DC movie list to recall those 2)

  1. If you’re going to start popping off at the mouth about All Star Superman as a comic series, you’d better read it first.

  2. The All Star Superman movie did exactly what it should have done, which is structure itself as a series of loosely connected vignettes. It doesn’t hang together tightly as one large, overarching arc because it isn’t supposed to. While the 70 minute limit causes some real problems with a story that was already densely packed to begin with, it handles the problem about as best as it can. I would rather commend ASS for overreaching its grasp than commend a piece of shit like Public Enemies that aims so low that it can’t possibly miss.

  3. Someone summed up Flashpoint’s “appeal” neatly earlier: BATMAN… WITH GUNS! If you want to know why we get dogshit like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, there you go. It’s borderline '90s Image Comics storytelling. I won’t get into it further, because I already did in the SRK Lounge, but Flashpoint isn’t even good for an alternate universe take on the characters.

How is a possible for anyone to enjoy Flashpoint? Both comic and movie was dog shit. It makes me hate Barry Allen more than I already do.
