Batman/Superman movie announced for 2016

An adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns animated movie would make the most sense, but of course that wont happen (partially because it would make too much sense).

While I enjoy Hush, I agree. But as for the movie being shitty, well, to paraphrase Anakin, nothing can stop that now.

then it wouldnt be a batman/superman movie

Ironic that you used Anakin for that quote.

Adaptation is the keyword.

DC has yet to prove themselves in live action. The only great movie ever has been The Dark Knight. The other 2 were ok with some high and some low notes…no one has ever done a great batman/bruce wayne though which is what was lacking for me (although we’ve gotten some great Alfreds). Man of Steel was a fucking disaster…Superman Returns was better…yes the movie where he lifts a fucking island of fucking kryptonite on sheer Disney inspired willpower, THAT movie was better. I can’t stress how turned off I am that they chose to sequel MoS for this team up. MoS was terribly acted (except Zod…go Zod!), the emotional scenarios were so badly done and forced it hurt, none of the motives and character interactions were believable, the plot holes, the scene where his dad dies (I’d feel bad about spoilers, but fuck this movie), and that god damn kiss ending.

DC really wants to be the next Avengers, but for some reason they can’t look at there fucking amazing animated movies and figure out what’s missing in live action. Usually the worst part is they tend to have really bad casting and diverge too far from the characters. I understand the need for real life interpretations, but the stretches they make are too far and usually don’t result in a very good unique character. These reimagined characters often feel like a new creation held down by their ties to what their loosely imitating, probably better to just make a new character.

DC needs to look at: Red Hood, Dark Knight Returns pt.1-2, Justice League: Doom, World’s Finest, anything DCAU as the guidelines for a good Batman/Superman. Many different voice actor’s and reimaginings, but at the core they all feel connected and very well done. The only actors to ever be on the same level and carry the character were Heath Ledger, Morrigan Freeman, and the few Alfreds. Batman needs to have the cold brooding side when the cowl is on. He needs to feel intelligent and calculating. Superman seems to only be well written when him and Batman are giving each other shit and forced to work together. Batman is a counter weight to Superman’s character design flaws.

I thought MoS was pretty cool but yea DC have a long way to go before their live action is on par with their OAVs. God damn Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox was fucking insane, their best to date which is a hard task considering the sheer awesome of Red Hood, Public Enemies and All Star.

If anybody remembers way back to the Batman: Dead End short movie, I want that guy back as Batman, no silly suit no silly talking no bullshit, just a live action worthy guy who looked the real deal and kicked some cross continuity ass.

-_- All Star was unwatchable…I sat there pulling my hair going, what the fuck story are they trying to tell?!?

Superman has always struggled with solo movies, his best being the Elite. Justice League Superman’s tend to be good though. Superman in the very last episode of Justice League: Unlimited was great if simply for his dialogue before beating the shit out of Darkseid.

Brolin, I can see, but Gosling? ehhh…

No thanks on Gosling. But Brolin and Manganiello would be fine with me either way. Moreso Mananiello since he’s so physically imposing

you cant have DKR be a batman/supes story because its a batman story its not even worth touching just to have the last fight scene in there? no ty

I won’t disagree on Gosling being the better actor. But the True Blood guys looks like he will fuck you up. Batman is supposed to be somewhat menacing and intimidating so he fits, can’t really see it with Gosling. But hey, if Gosling can prove me wrong, I wouldn’t be against it.

We’re talking about this one right??? The one where he’s dieing and forms no real plot and has random shit like Samson and Atlus tryin to bang Lois and giving her super powers?

…my only crime is standards. I’ve at least moderately enjoyed every DC animated movie, and love most of them. This however is the one I wouldn’t let touch my collection. It was terribad…worse than MoS.

If anything, Gosling could be The Flash

kill yourself

Why do you hate Superman so much?

I don’t hate Superman, those movies were just shit. All Stars plot was a mess (I swear to God the writers were ADD kids given koolaid), the art style was not appealing, nothing really flowed. It just didn’t have any redeeming qualities.

MoS…jesus. We have an awesome action intro, but we want the deep and dark Superman…so that tries to happen. Instead Superman and Lois can’t act, the plot just forces itself along with out any strong motive to why one character was doing any of their actions (soldiers talking about secret stuff in a bar conveniently and “omg that must correspond exactly to what im wondering around aimlessly looking for!”), the characters emotional reactions to build up his disconnect from society is NEVER convincing and oddly weird and convenient, his foster dad dieing was on par with Spiderman’s “Emo hair swipe turned villian” for worse scene ever, and just every theme the movie was about failed. The only redeeming qualities were Zod and the destruction porn (which after being bored and annoyed with Superman: A Lifetime Channel Original, I was literally begging for Michael bay…and that hurts me to say), I really wanted the dark emotional Superman movie it advertised…but they wrote and acted it like shit. It wasn’t deep at all. And I’m not even getting to how bad they derailed from the themes of Superman himself…I’m treating it as it’s own thing.

I’m ok with Superman, he’s just incredibly hard to write well. He’s all powerful, his villains aren’t all great choices for a movie, and finding a balance between boyscout and defender is tough. Superman is usually great with Batman because they butt heads and often fight something that challenges them in unique ways. That’s why Justice league works so well, the problems are bigger than how powerful he is and he can no longer act on his own, he has to answer to his own league as well.

The other Animated superman movies were not bad, they simply weren’t as good as the Batman ones. All Star was just terrible.

I think DC needs to really be careful with their Justice League plans. I have a feelign they want to be the Avengers so bad they are not making good decisions to get there.

Do you really not understand the definition of the word adaptation in this context? I’d hate to see you be in charge of any sort of grassroots concept:

ARPANET engineer: Hey you know over time we can use an adaptation of this concept to send information across the world. Maybe some day civilians will use it to communicate.

You: lol no. It’s military only. We can’t let civilians see our communications.

Are you kidding me?! This movie was awful. You don’t have to hate Superman in order to think this is a bad movie. Maybe it seemed more palatable if you read the comics it was adapted from, but they jammed WAY too much into the movie for it to be coherent by itself, and even with having read the source material you can’t be blind enough not to have noticed how it just meandered from story to story without blending them well at all. This movie should have been AT LEAST 2 parts. This movie is an example of what would’ve happened if the Lord of the Rings trilogy was crammed into a single film.

Cranston as Lex Luthor? I wouldn’t oppose to that idea.

Everything about that article screams that it’s completely unsubstantiated speculation.

And it’s going to be like this with literally every bald middle-aged actor in Hollywood until somebody with some actual credibility delivers something official.
