Keaton was known for Beetlejuice and Mr. Mom, and Tim Burton and Danny Elfman were known for Beetlejuice and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. Fans were as noisy as pre-Internet fans can get.

Same happened with Keaton. Fans sent angry letters to Warner Bros telling them how wrong their choice was. The exec themselves weren’t confident in him either. They kept in on because Burton would have walked if he didn’t.
He had a reason to not come out as the batman. Life as Bruce Wayne was still open for him to life socially. Maybe learn more about his family business. Help the donations to the charities that he started and help fund but stopped cause he lacked the foresight to see that those would dry up. He had a life to live, he choose not to live it because his life as batman had ended. Which is much worse than Keaton living a life, talking with CEOs, hosting parties and occasionally waiting for some crime to be committed to don the batsuit.
The negative reaction to Affleck being Batman is hilarious. Oh no, a good actor is playing Batman! THE FUCKING TRAVESTY.
Oh this movie will fucking suck, make no mistake, but it won’t be because of Affleck.

ben afflecks look doesnt strike me as a guy who trained himself like bruce did to become batman. hes soft to me, but we’ll see what a nice couple months of training, a clean cut, and new hair will do for him. i almost could care less who plays bruce wayne, as long as we can get away from that more “realer” batman shit from the previous 3 movies and get more into that james bond batman shit, hi tech gadgets and all.
lol at people wanting affleck to direct batman instead of snyder because they didnt like man of steel, which was great except for a handful of moments that were dumb like lois falling away from a black hole. loool. what has affleck done that says he knows about making a action comic book movie to rival the likes of avengers (avengers is trash, but still). suckerpunch is not as bad as people shit on it for, the internet is just stupid. watchmen was good unless you wanted to nit pick everything different from the comic book, although some things from the comic shoulda transferred but didnt. oh well shit happens, and budgets get tight. everyone loved 300 at least after the first two watches. it might not be peoples fav anymore, but when it dropped it set off careers, memes, and the internet.
snyder is fine, man of steel was better then wolverine and pacific rim. it was also better then avengers, but even iron man 3 is better then avengers (not shitting on iron man 3, just sayin). snyder just needs to tighten up on plot points so we dont get anymore falling away from black holes lois lane, or jumper lois lane who seems to have like a private helicopter that takes her everywhere superman is. haha. other then that snyder directed the shit out of man of steel, and it was a refreshing superman movie, and a refreshing comic book movie imo, unlike wolverine, avengers, amazing spiderman, etc…
snyder will fail me as a director if he just gives us another version of christian bales batman but without the voice. batman needs a flying saucer, nanotech, anti superman suit, genius level mind and no randoms that make his stuff for him because he does it all himself, lasers, whatever. dont give me mat black clunky military weapons and tron motorcycles. i want slick shit that only a man of bruce waynes intellect and financial resources could make, not something that looks like something the us government waste hundreds of millions on.
Black Nerd makes a valid point, people will talk more about the villain than the heroes. Dark Knight trilogy will be part of the cannon so no need to tell Bruce Wayne’s story over again. Realistically is it even possible that Luthor has enough wealth to rebuild an entire city? Wayne probably goes halfsies lol. Would it be a surprise to see Queen Industries have a stake in it too?

There are some roles some actors aren’t suited for. It’s nothing against the actor.
If Affleck pulls it off, more power to him, that would be a huge notch in his career belt. I just don’t think he can and again, it’s not due to his acting ability.

No given actor is suited for every role; agreed. The arguments against Affleck are still laughably flawed.
That doesn’t mean he’ll necessarily do a good job. But the hysteria is overblown.
Man of Steel had far more than a mere handful of dumb moments, and Snyder has proven himself talented in ways that don’t involve strong dialog or storytelling. He’s like a slightly easier to work with Michael Bay in that he’ll actually listen when someone tries to make a point and try to argue his own, but it doesn’t stop his films from worrying more about aesthetics than substance.
And no, it’s not because of what Superman did to Zod. Supes will go against his ideals if pushed, and Snyder gets props for arguing that to a skeptical Nolan. But when the film establishes Clark as being something and he goes against it just because (I’m talking the tornado scene here), that’s garbage, and not the only one of the film’s huge problems.
