Batman/Superman movie announced for 2016

Well the movie isnt about lex. They cant flesh that out like a comic book can. I dont even know why that is a topic of discussion, considering most comic movies dont flesh out their characters at all, because they cant. Youre still talking about lex. This is lex jr. A dude who has admired, looked up to, and watched his father put in that work. Then tries to emulate his behavior, mixed with his own issues that are similar to his fathers.

You can quote comic shit about lex all you want, but those are comics, where there is more room to flesh out stories, and thats also lex luthor, not his son. **I understand the movie drew parallels, all the way down to cutting of his hair, but hes clearly still a boy acting in his fathers shadow, trying to be his father in many ways, but failing at it. **

If fleshing out Lex was too much of a hassle, then don’t use fucking Lex… Metallo or something could have been the simple “goon” to deal with that could have tied into the kryptonite sub-plot without shitting all over Luthor as a character.

Hell, have Metallo at the forefront, then bring in Lex as the puppet master behind the scenes to set up bigger shit in later films.

Goddamn… This shit really isn’t that complicated to do.

Again, luthor, not his son. See previous post. I get it, but still.

With that said, yeah DC is going to rush a bit right now. They wasted time with that super mediocre batman trilogy, and a lot of talent is already with marvel. People act like marvel had this grand plan when they dropped iron man. They didnt, but it took off like crazy, and thats all she wrote.

People are too jaded now and spoiled, that they think that marvels 4 year head start means nothing. DC doesnt even have a stan lee to toss in movies for easter egg hype factor, and a lot of talent is with marvel. lol. Its just a different beast all together. I think BvS didnt have to come this early for sure, but it was definitely the next hype, because no one knows who the fuck most DC characters are outside of the flash and arrow. lol. But they didnt know those shows were gonna pop off like that, and then have to balance out the tv universe with the movie universe.

I think they shouldve just did man of steel 2 instead of BvS, since thats what it essentially turned out to be. But instead they couldve fleshed out superman more, had more intimate scenes with him and humanity, then bring in a super dope boss, a proper lex luthor, and a surprise batman.

DC universe has its flaws. Im not saying they dont, but i think we’re having the wrong discussions in this thread about it.

When Eisenberg says that he’s playing Lex Luthor and he’s credited as Lex Luthor, I think it’s reasonable to be disappointed in how crappy of a Lex Luthor he is. Even if there’s some viral tie-ins clouding the issue ( http://www.themarysue.com/jesse-eisenberg-lex-luthor-daddy-issues/ ).

Yeah, instead of throwing in quick name cameos like Marvel does, DC can go the quirky route and just kill off name characters each time. Way more fun to kill off Jimmy Olsen than to have him just continue to pop up in a interesting fashion.

DC crapped the bed with this one in all sorts of ways.

They can’t flesh out Lex Luthor? They can’t make Lex Luthor a better villain with motivations and actions that make sense, considering how much of a role he plays in this movie? Not buying that at all. Even if you take comics out of the equation, they could have built him up a little more. Without the comics, we know little about this Lex. Is he trying to get out of his father’s shadow? Maybe. There’s only a few mentions of Lex Sr in the movie - one of them from Lex Jr about how he beat him. I don’t remember anyone saying anything along the lines of how Lex Jr has big shoes to fill. Maybe that’s just me. Hell, we don’t even know how involved in LexCorp Lex Jr is. It might be a Bruce Wayne/Lucius Fox situation with someone else running the company.

Point is, comic or no comic, he was crap in this movie.

I recommend that one story as Lex motivation for hating Superman is the entire point of the book. It’s a good one at that. Lex’s chapter in Superman: For All Is Seasons also covers the same ground but not to the same extent. The motivation he has against Superman may be simple at least he has one and it made sense. Not like the Luthor we got in this movie.

If I wasn’t suppose to give a shit about Lex then why is he in the movie? He is Superman’s archnenemy for fuck sakes. He’s not a throwaway character. For that they could have used Intergang. A group made of disposable characters and a means to tie things to Darkseid. It would have been nice.

Thinking about it further, Metallo would have been super-easy to implement- Have him be a soldier or someone related to Senator chick who got fucked up in the Zod fight… Then have her do some shady backroom dealings with a shadowy figure to get the kryptonite and kryptonian tech to make dude into Metallo, and unleash him on Supes at the Senate, creating more casualties, causing Batman to get even more paranoid and crazy enough to go after Superman, instead of the paper-thin reasoning he has in this film.

Have Supes fuck Metallo up at the Senate, Metallo gets collected, rebuilt, and powered-up for the finale, forcing Bats and Supes to finally put their beef to the side and work together to bop him… Have Lex come out at the end and state, "The test-run was a success. I now know how to hurt him."

There… I included wheelchair man, the Senator lady, and gave Batman some real motivation.

Hire me, WB, you scrub-ass fucks.

Just put bruce timm in charge

Fixes it all

“Hey guys luthor sucks in this movie because he’s not lex, he’s lex jr” is a shitty cop out.

Am i the only one who thinks they went with “Lex Jr” on purpose, so they wouldn’t be bothered to even try getting the character right? They could just tell jesse eisenberg to do his best Joker impersonation, and leave it at that.

Nope, i just said it, and have said it before. I think they wanted lex at first, and were thinking of cranston for it, but they realized it would maybe be a waste of the greatness of lex luthor to put him in this film. Could you have put in lex luthor, and got a great performance, sure. Would there be a better future movie to use lex in? Absolutely.

They probably messed up in not having lex in man of steel. I dont think they had a clear vision at all of their universe at all back then. It wouldve been fine having him be background noise, but we see him working in the shadows, and developing his jealous and envy for superman. BvS had mad things going on in it. The batman vs superman conflict. Darkseid/flash visions and time traveling. Doomsday. The death of superman so they can push forward a reason for wonder woman coming back to earth, batman not being a murderer, and bringing together the justice league.

Im sure theyre going to pull him in for justice league, and tie him to darkseid as usual. Lex luthor has gotten tech from darkseid, which has allowed him to create those awesome battlesuits.

**I think the way they did lex jr is confusing though after watching the movie countless times now. They shouldnt have shaved his head at the end, and that deleted scene that tied him to darkseid. So basically they took lex luthors story, gave it to his son, and made changes. They shouldve just ended with him being a scared locked up boy, and left the darkseid shit and bald head to his father.

They can easily clean it up in future movies though. So i get the frustration with lex jr for people, but i dont think lex luthor being in instead wouldve changed peoples opinion of the movie much. **

Everyone make fun of me because I like BvS ;(

Son…, I gave the movie a 7/10.
I liked it…

But Eisenberg as Lex was for Damn sure not one of those things!!

im still convinced eisenberg was tryin to play lex like an autstic kid…or someone on the spectrum. its the only explanation i have to that speech weirdness.

10 more days and we can forget about this crappy movie.

Pshaw! I’m going to go see it again on Civil War’s release day, just for good measure.

Will it still be in theaters then? How many people do you think will be in the theater with you? Should we over/under this?

2.5
Chad and his mom.

Is that a fat joke about my mom? I’d be mad if it didn’t make me laugh.

And yeah, it’ll at least be at the cheap seats. I’m pretty hyped about CW though, so I’ll probably just wait for the director’s cut of BvS in blu-ray to watch it again.
