Watchmen the film was…eh, but not completely godawful.
One of the few adaptations I can think of where a scene that completely wasn’t in the book (rise of superheroes montage) not only helped the story, but became the standout scene.
The rest though…looked like him copying the framing of the panels, but without the depth of why the panels were that way to accommodate the comic format in the first place.
it’s two different mediums. snyder was basically using the graphic novel as his storyboard for the majority of the scenes being shot. he only slightly deviated on a few scenes and parts of the plot to be able to adapt it to film.
the book itself was thought to be impossible to be turned into a movie prior to snyder’s effort, which isn’t too shabby compared to the clusterfuck known as fan4stic, lololol
Fuckin hell, I thought this was the marvel studios thread for a second there. Welp, BVS had it’s 15 minutes already. Squandered potential more than anything else, IMO. See you in a couple years back in this thread, looking forward to all of the crap all of y’all gonna heap upon Snyder’s next film in ths series lololol
Clearly Hack Snyder is trying to create his own universe because he can.
Does not give two shits about the comics… Unless I missed a halberd-wielding Robin somewhere.
watched it last night. You guys making it seem like is Daredevil tier, this is like someone else said the IM2 of DC. Too many things going on, some rushed or forced into (Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, parademons, etc). It has a bunch of flaws but say if it was on TV I wouldn’t mind watching it again. Can’t say the same for other movies, like Batman Beyond, IM3, FF2, Wolverine Origins, Green Lantern, etc
It pretty much followed the same mistakes of MoS, different story, similar plot holes, just with added characters, some good (Affleck, Irons) some not so good (Doomsday was disappointing, surprisingly Alexander Luthor as a character is not THAT bad, just wish it wasn’t Eisenberg). If anything I think this movie is longer than it should had been. Dream scenes removed, less of the wheelchair guy and Perry White (seriously they are doing the character totally wrong) and movie would have been decent-good. As of now is average-decent.
Don’t need to complain because I don’t use them as reference. I do have an issue when someone else tries to their ratings as a dogma. For instance Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has 83%… So you can see why I don’t give a shit what old people that haven’t read any comics at all criticize something based on their non existent knowledge of a character (talking about critics here, non critics are very split into “fans” and haters pretty much).
I do acknowledge it’s not a good movie. I went with low expectations and didn’t feel like I wasted 12 bucks tbh. One thing I’d complain is that whoever edited those trailers needs to die of liver cancer. The best scenes were like 75% on the trailers…
But seriously I pray DC hires a good scriptwriter. Direction is fine, editing could be better but the script has major issues.
