You can’t compare Affleck to George Clooney even though I get the where you’re going with it. And Ryan Reynolds being in Green Lantern didn’t doom the movie. It was the script that killed it. Its like whomever wrote the movie had no idea of the direction they were going with it.
I personally think Affleck has stepped it up from Hollywoodland onward with his acting so I’m not worried about it. I say wait for the trailer and then pass the judgement.
And exactly what the hell makes Ben Affleck so “right” for the part, over all the other potential actors out there i wonder? As if all these years we somehow had the perfect Bruce Wayne/Batman candidate around, but didn’t recognize it?
Oh if only the world saw the light sooner…then we could’ve had Ben Affleck in the nolan trilogy instead. Am i right?
Seems like they were lazy, wanted to rush into filming, and didn’t even try to hunt for a proper actor. Affleck just walked in the door at the right time.
And what exactly makes the other actors viable as Batman other than it just being a fanboy wet dream? Not saying Affleck was a choice I would’ve made. Hell, last I checked Affleck turned down the opportunity to do anything with DC multiple times up to this point so obviously something caught his eye to where he was interested.
Take Bale for example. The guy not only looked the part, but he was also a stellar actor with many notable entries & reputation under his belt up to that point. Dude was a beast and a proven winner! With a reputation for being a professional and perfectionist in almost every role he got put in. Just look at the mechanic and everything he did for that role. How many other actors out there would have been as dedicated to do what he did? Almost nobody. Damn sure not Ben Affleck.
So when i heard the news it sounded like a great casting. A good actor who will put his ALL into it. There are even stories on set that bale was so invested into the role, that he made others only ever refer to him as Wayne.
THAT is a GOOD Batman!
By comparison, Ben Affleck isn’t shit to Bale. He’s a romantic comedy goofball with some success back in the day, and that goofy kevin smith stuff. Then he proceeded to BOMB one too many projects after another, almost to the point where he outlasted his welcome in hollywood, and considered box office poison!
The hell has he done since then? Got into director work and made some good stuff yeah, but as a director. Not much in the way of acting that can prove the turd can make a BIG role like this work. Also unlike past actors like Bale, he has yet to demonstrate ANYTHING that can prove he has a viable leg up over the competition. How soon we forget the mediocrity that was Daredevil…
Umm have you watched Hollywoodland? How about State of Play? Company Men? Argo? The Town?
The man has improved greatly as an actor. Don’t be like these people that are still stuck on him playing Daredevil.
You know what caused MS to change their policies? When they realized that Sony just played them by forcing them to announce those policies first and didn’t follow suit when they saw no one liked them. They only dropped the policies because they realized they were going to be out a lot of money in a console war. They didn’t drop the policies because they were wrong, and you can bet that they won’t be done with in the future. Oh, on top of that it wasn’t just the fans and casuals raising a shit storm, it was the ENTIRE INDUSTRY that was pretty much shit talking and laughing at Microsoft’s face for this. Hell, even the two developers that would’ve liked their policies most, EA and Ubisoft, probably didn’t appreciate MS trying to throw them under the bus.
In this instance, there really is no war. At least 75% of the people who signed that petition will go and watch the movie in theaters opening weekend anyway. DC has no risk of financial issue. Plus, Affleck already signed the contract. They’d actually be at MORE risk of financial issue if they tried to get rid of him now. What, you think Affleck’s just going to sit there and say “Oh, you’re getting rid of me already? That’s fine, don’t need the money anyway.” Bitch please, he signed on for 13 appearances, he’ll sue their asses for unlawful termination. And the entire industry isn’t saying “DC, you fucked up”. It’s only the usual fanbase, which again, they won’t bother to listen to because they’ll show up en masse opening night anyway.
