Wish that’d come across more cleanly. Everything just seems so rushed and sketched in.
The first 30 minutes of the latest Empire Film Podcast has Zack Snyder, Charles Roven, and Deborah Snyder talk about the movie post-release and helps explain some of the weird/unclear motivations in the film:
You know the movie might actually be decent with they add back all the important scenes they removed. I mean I liked seeing Amy Adams in tub as much as the next guy, but that scene wasn’t important to the story.
Worst part of the movie was Eisenberg’s Luthor. I’m not even blaming him as an actor tho, I blame the director
Lex supposed to be a calm, cool, calculating, megalomaniac, suit & tie wearing smart ass with a god complex
Here, he’s just a sniveling, manic-depressive, non-threatening, annoying little shit with nonsensical plans and no real motivations for doing what he does
Brainiac Attacks had a better Luthor, and to anybody who’s seen that movie, that’s just BAD
The Empire interview indicates that Luthor is slowly going insane over the course of the movie. That explanation kind of puts Eisenberg’s shitty acting in perspective, even if it’s still just bad.
Think of eldritch horror, Bloodborne is a great example to those who’ve played it.
Having alot of insight is no good.
You see during his speech at the fundraiser when you start to see him go off the deep end.
It drives him nuts to know that for all his knowledge and power he is a human and there are beings with both knowledge and power far beyond his understanding.
It’s that feeling of terror knowing enough to know that, there’s so much you don’t know, all the while realizing that no matter how much you know, or may learn, you will never be a big enough fish in the sea for it to matter.
It is as he said paradoxical, when thing begin becoming paradoxical they are nonsensical, insane if you will.
Batman is willing to kill this movie, but Suicide Squad is made up of like 2-3 of his more dangerous villains. And Joker is obviously in the movie too. I think it’s safe to assume The Joker has probably killed hundreds of people.
Maybe he only kills bad guys that they can’t make toys out of?
