Batman/Superman movie announced for 2016

Well, Like Henry Cavill said, they’re making a movie that’s not for “smart” people

I got this comment from another site, so tell me how good of an idea this is.

It wouldn’t happen, but I’d be game for it if WB decided to change course.

this is the best idea I’ve seen in this thread besides mine

I don’t understand why people are mad that Batman kills when he’s done so before in different movies.

Did you guys know that Batman was first on film in 1943? That was during fucking world war two.

Came back from the movie, that was a long sit.

Bat Affleck was a pleasant surprise.

Lex Eisenburg should not have been such a cartoon character, the guy needed to act more chill.

Wonder Gal is okay, though she should have left the orchestra at home.

This story of this movie zigzags way too much, it is never clear and the dream sequences/visions take too much dominance over what is actually happening in real time. Random details never addressed and significant events are ignored.

IMO this is DC trying to catch up to the Marvel movies. It took a handful of movies just to get to the point of having the Avengers, and DC said fuck THAT; cut it down and have a bunch of fights vaguely strung together. Shoot first, aim later.

I wrote earlier that I had low expectations, so it gets a pass based on that. It was okay, though I feel the more times I see this, the more flaws I will find and hate it. This will not age well and I am not thrilled about this being the base for more movies.

I missed this somehow. Despite people not caring, it’s an important part of his character. Granted, we’re talking about Dark Knight Returns Batman where he pretty much becomes a Sin City character, but still.

And to answer the question, he stopped killing shortly after the introduction of Robin and the want to keep the kiddy readerbase.

I haven’t seen it yet so Batman should be ATTEMPTING to save people. Will bad guys die? cert’n’ly. Will Batman let them if possible? No.

But since Movie Superman is a psycho killer movie Batman is bound to be too

I have this collection on DVD. It’s pretty campy and silly, but it’s got some charm, gotta say.

If Snyder did it for the hardcore fans…

I definitely dig stalker Luthor

It’s ok Superboy, you didn’t want that grape drank anyway, was probably a roofie anyway comin from Stalker Luthor.

That clip is hilarious on so many levels.

Movie superman is a psycho killer now? Okay.

Did u watch man of steel?

Anyways, arguing aside i thought it was great. Ive pointed out why i thought other peoples opinions were shit.

I was kinda hoping for a quick flash cameo on the battlefield, but its all good, he got his shine a little. I thought the plot was fine. The characters are a bit more emotional to force the plot along. Like rather than bruce use his words, he goes straight into sociopath mode to want to kill superman. Bruces motives are relatively basic, but they were going to be no matter what. This isnt a tv show, so you just ham up bruces paranoia, along with being retired, cynical, angry, and fearful. I think it worked fine.

From some of the opinions in this thread. I would think you guys went into expecting to see a 13 episode, 40 minute an episode series. No, its a movie, you kinda gotta push shit along to keep it moving. Gal gadot did what she was hired to do. I aint mad at it, but im still not excited about it. Lex jr was just lex jr. People overly offended by him, i dont know why. Lex jr is an ego maniacal rich kid, with a superiority complex, and has huge daddy issues. HES NOT LEX LUTHOR.

Movie was darker in contrast than man of steel, but it didnt bother me much. Snyder should definitely give us a little more light to work with next time. I thought the dream sequences were fine. It took you into the world of batmans fear and paranoia, showed off a JL character, and introduced darkseid somewhat. Affleck is definitely the batman now imo. Cavil did his thing, but not much is asked of superman in general, and definitely not in this movie.

Ugh, tired. I thought it was great, 9/10. I’m not sure why superman is such a polarizing character for comic fans. They lined up for nolans mediocrity with batman, and praised it until hindsight finally had to set in. I definitely wouldnt mind a color tone change for like cyborg, flash, and aquaman. I dont mind if justice league is dark like mos and bvs, but with suicide squad too with that dim, dull coloring, i think dc should consider making sure a few of their movies finally step into the light.

Dc’s most popular show, flash, is all about light, and light heartedness.

so this guy did not actually grill anything and he didnt watch man of steel, talk about trolling 101

I am sick and fucking tired of motherfuckers not understanding who Superman is and what his character is about.

Yes, he is a nigh-invulnerable god among men, but he’s also a farm boy from Kansas raised on what used to be good morals. He strives to be a symbol of hope and inspiration because of his upbringing… The Kents adopted a god and taught him how to be a man. He lost his parents, his planet, his entire culture before he could even form words. However, due to the kindly couple from Smallville, a potential planet conqueror becomes its greatest champion and defender… Superman.

Superman is the gold fucking standard of superheroes. He is the guy other heroes look up to, and turn to when shit hits the fan. For him, Truth, Justice, and the American Way isn’t a catchphrase, it is who he is. Does that mean he can come off corny and too boy scoutish at times? Yes, but damn it, heroes are boyscouts by design.

Zack Snyder is a hack that took the greatest of superheroes and made him into a Jesus allegory with no personality, and somehow managed to make Batman a sociopathic mass murderer while he was at it.

I am mad as fuck about this shit… I hope this fool gets drop-kicked at the next con he appears at.

Multiple times.

Watch the color corrected Spanish (sorry) trailer:

It’s so much better. If you don’t make it visually painful, it’s a lot easier for people to relax and enjoy it.

Jimmy: tldr, sorry. If you really think apologetics for a crappy movie need to be done, you’re proving my point better than my flu-addled brain can right now. Sorry that I grew up on Batman and Superman, the World’s Finest Superheroes, and actually am excited about them being done right. Enjoy your pablum, I guess.

Don’t you think there would have been more time to properly justify Bruce’s fear and paranoia within the story if they had just not tried to jam so much stuff into the movie? That seems to be the main complaint. They tried to do too much, so the things that actually needed attention to build a solid foundation for the movie didn’t get the attention they needed so instead Batman has to “go straight into sociopath mode to want to kill superman” in order to move the plot forward because there are too many things they are trying to address. You don’t need a TV series to make characters with fleshed out and understandable motivations, what you need is to cut the fat and condense your vision down to something manageable don’t you think? Plenty of movies can manage to do this, why can’t this one?

I’m pretty sure peoples problem with Lex Jr is that he’s not Lex Luthor so he seems pointless and hamfisted cuz there’s no real reason for him to exist when Lex Luthor already does, at least as far as introducing characters people actually want to see is concerned. Then you heap on him being played by Eisenburg who can be pretty polarizing anyway and you’ve basically created a situation that you can’t really win. People don’t want to see Lex Jr on the screen, and annoying, whiny rich kid wit Daddy issues, they want to see the bald brilliant man himself. This seems pretty easy to understand.

I can see the color pallet being a big issue for people to because Comic Books are generally bright and colorful with large pallets, even the grim dark ones. Shit The Dark Knight Returns the comic so much of this movie is based on has a pretty wide use of color, with a really large pallet, so why is this movie so grey?

Myself, as someone who still likes the Nolan movies cuz they are good, they just have flaws like any other, one of my main complaints with them would be that they are fucking dark, not like grim dark and violent, but like fucking dark…like pitch black. The big flaw with the Nolan movies is he can’t do action. So much of those movies, especially the action scenes are filmed in rooms with barely any light so everything happens in black, it’s annoying. It worked well in Batman Begins because it tied into the fear theme of the movie super fucking well, but it doesn’t work for him as well in the sequels, and when he does try to film stuff in a bright lit place, he spins the camera around like a madman so you still can’t see anything.

Like fuck I understand Batman fights crime at night and shit, but his books are still colorful and vibrant and you can at least fucking see shit. Even his recent game like Arkham City/Knight are really colorful and vibrant. This is a real strength the Marvel movies have been really riding, their movies are fun to watch because they are vibrant, colorful and full of visual life. They are comic books that move. BvS sounds really dull from a visual standpoint so I can understand why comic fans would have a problem with this.

9/10?

This dude done lost his mind.

God forbid a “Comic Book” Movie sticks with source material instead of “hamming it up to push a shitty plot along” dream sequence etc.

Heros are completely out of character. (Especially superman)

But anyone that calls out its bullshit is nitpicking.

People find a way. This is why the first Avengers is the benchmark for what comic book movies should be. You got to see all the of characters do what the characters do. Yeah these characters are complex and can show us different sides of humanity via grandiose stories BUT, did Hulk get to smash some shit?

A lot of what’s going on in the DC film universe seems to be about setting a tone that’s different than Marvel’s. Niggas, all this bullshit is comic books. You aren’t on some fucking high ground suddenly because of Christopher Nolan. If you can’t get batman doing batman shit right and superman doing all the bullshit that makes people not like him, wtf did your movie really do at the end of the day?

Avengers #1 stay goat, haters stay bloat.

Loved it! I’ll probably go watch it a few more times, at least once more this weekend and probably again in a month or so. Definitely a day 1 purchase on Blu-ray.
