Wasnt that relevant to the plot, in a movie that is already 2 and a half hours. The audience knew what was up, and thats all that counts. Its not a tv show, where batman playing 1970s detective to figure out who was behind the bombing is a major plot point.

He tried for more than 2 seconds, and ran into a trap. I mean, what did you want superman to do, fly down, say batman stop, they kidnapped my mother and are forcing me to kill you or she dies? That doesnt happen in books, doesnt happen in comics, and definitely doesnt happen in movies. Well it happens in the first two, but it also doesnt happen a lot.
If it were up to some of you, this movie would be over in the first 35 minutes, and call it a day. Its a movie. Sometimes you have to suspend disbelief mildly, in order for things to move forward. Sometimes for instance, superman isnt going to say what he shouldve in the first 5 seconds, but will bullshit a little, and it just is to force the fight between the two.
