Batman/Superman movie announced for 2016

The movie’s going to be a box office success (not a huge one, but $1 billion I’m sure).

Something that is good for the DCEU is that they’re leaving everything relatively independent… unlike Marvel’s “phases” where every movie contributes to the set-up of the next “Avengers” event, Suicide Squad looks like it won’t be too connected to Justice League but just set in the same universe.
So, cutting a limb if a license (for example, Aquaman or Shazam) doesn’t work, won’t hurt much the fate of the MCU.

Whatever, I think with BvS the worst has passed. It was like the Iron Man 2 of the universe… everything’s going to be smoother after this, I hope.

I expect Justice League movies and a few off-shoots based both in major and minor franchises, just not as connected as the Marvel movies…

I read a spoiler, and Superman’s still a murderer in this movie. He hasn’t let go killing, he’s now killing regular humans too… I mean what the fuck, Snyder.

Not necessarily humor, just… less angst, less grim, more fun, more sense of wonder, to say something…?

I’m not talking only about the main characters of the movie, there should be more of a sense of wonder around. As for Batman, many comic books and other incarnations depicts him with more wit.
But I’m talking about the general tone, for what I’ve read Snyder tone keeps in the “bleak and depressing” tone. For what I’ve read, the movie becomes boring, jumbled, and by the end you don’t care about the characters and you don’t want to see more.
Snyder is too “teenage-y” and he’s clearly basing in dated ideas of “badass” comic books, becomes almost a parody of grim and gritty, unlike Nolan who was more cerebral and offered insightful takes on superheroes.

Very few Superman comics have a darker tone, and many of them suck (End of the World, for example). There can be great Superman dark stories but he’s always a light of hope in those, Superman vs The Authority, for example. The basic concept of Superman is that he inspires others to do better.
That’s also one of the main ideas behind the Batman/Superman team-ups and crossovers, Superman represents the light and Batman the dark, that’s a great contrast that highlights each one’s qualities.
But for what I’ve read, here it’s just “God vs Man” but both are remorseless psycho killers… what the hell, Snyder? Did you take classes with John Peters? Superman has the eyes of a murderer?

I’m blaming the WB producers, they don’t seem to agree about anything regarding DC and you don’t know what to expect of their movies. With Marvel, you know what to expect: Fun, wonder, greatness, if a little too silly and superficial. Fox movies are irregular too but they have more hits than misses.

Snyder is extremely polarizing, dude. Check at Man of Steel. And in this case, I’ve seen the opinions of people that thought MoS was a masterpiece and they consider this inferior, people who didn’t MoS some of them say say it’s better than Man of Steel and some others say it’s worse… it’s even more polarizing than Man of Steel and that’s even weirder.

My main problem with the DCEU is that it was supposed to start with Man of Steel? You already had a character that can literally jump and reach outer space and destroy a city easily, then why do you need Batman and Wonder Woman?
They went the dark route exploring the ethics/politics implications, but the Batman vs Superman fight is quite silly if you consider what Superman can do. In my opinion, Man of Steel shouldn’t have been the beginning of the cinematic universe, it’s going to be inconsistent and stakes in power levels are going to get .

I think that’s why

Spoiler

If you haven’t seen the movie, don’t read this. BIG SPOILER.

Spoiler

They killed Superman at the end of this movie.

they needed to clear the way for the “Phase 2” new heroes (Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg blows a raspeberry), to feel worthy and important…

Spoiler

Again, BIG SPOILER.

Spoiler

And Superman not to interfere with their individual adventures

With Marvel, you can contain Thor as he’s usually exploring outer space, and Iron Man is not omnipresent as he doesn’t have the same heightened senses as Superman, but here…? There shouldn’t be much of a need of other superheroes other than Superman.

I know. But reviews so far have said the movie doesn’t work, it feels too messy, bad executed. We all know setting up a new universe (specially taking into account everything Man of Steel represented) was a very hard job… but Snyder is proving each time more and more, that he’s incapable for the job.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (big stinker that destroyed the prospectives of a cinematic universe…)

From what i’ve read which i am saddened… BvS seems poised to make even Halle Berry’s Catwoman look even better than The Dark Knight and Winter Soldier’s quality combined.

If this fails DC potentially may go out of business since their comics is not too hot right now and Marvel has overtaken them by leaps and bounds now with the tv department

I don’t want that to happen but at this rate BvS may end up being a single digit on RT it’s dead before it even sees light.

No, for the reviews I’ve seen, the movie is still worthy of watching.

It’s a terrible mess of a movie but there are parts that makes it worthy. You just can’t give it a “good” rating in the end, but I’ve never seen anyone facepalming or take insult, or that they regret of having watched it.

Most people feel the direction and editing are incompetent, the movie has storytelling flaws, and that the movie is a missed chance, but it never reaches the bottoms of Fantastic Four or Catwoman.

I think you niggas are hyping the hate up too much. I’ve liked movies everyone hated before. Just go see the movie to firm your own solid opinion. You don’t even have to pay for it if you are already in the Theatre,

Its starting to sound ridiculous with the “i heard this and that.”

I don’t hate the movie, I think from the fact it’s coming out from Man of Steel everyone should have know what to expect. For the reviews we’re getting, the forecasts were right (movie’s messy, crowded with set-ups), but they’re not as negative as I expected, or at least not negative in the most important aspects.

It’s just another Snyder movie, he’s telling the story he wanted to tell, so at least there are no problems in the tone of the movie… the only thing here, is we know Snyder is hugely limited as a storyteller/director, and generally he can’t tell apart bad stories and good stories (look at Sucker Punch, for example).

Nonetheless, I’m still very interested in the movie and I plan watching it and enjoying it. And I think after this, the DCEU is going to get better.

The worst decision has been putting Snyder to become their “Kevin Feige”. The guy has no brain and doesn’t understand Superman, to begin with.

I’m pretty sure there will be an exchange in powers following the bad reception.

Someone bring better writers (freaking Goyer no more, PLEASE) more competent directors such as George Miller, please. I want a georgeous Justice League movie

Recently I read Justice League Part I and II are going to be filmed back to back… and each part’s going to have different writers. I mean, WB what are you doing?! They desperately need someone smart to oversee everything.

So what’s the verdict? Man of steel was better??

There’s no such a thing. Even more polarizing than the last one because there are people who say MoS was better and some others state the opposite.

How much would WB lose if they cut the major roles behind the making of this movie, hire new staff to replace them, and reboot everything yet again?

Also, I don’t know shit about comics, but I’ve seen some animated movies. If they got better writers/directors and rebooted with a Flash Paradox movie, then started making the single movies with each founding member with Flash cameos to build up the universe before bringing the JL together, would you guys watch that?

Well, before I continue, let me make sure-- Flash Paradox is the one where Flash goes back in time to save his mom and doing so is what rebooted the universe into the New 52 era/universe, right? So Flash is the only one that remembers the previous universe, correct?

If so, that would be a good starting point. Or, would have been…

Just saw the movie, you guys should definitely stop reading reviews or believe spoilers because the last 15 posts are full of sh*t. Won’t ever be afraid of reading spoilers weeks before a movie.
I’ll post more once I’m home, there will be no spoilers but I’ll tag it all in it.

They’re not doing that, their universe is still much open and they’re not doing it so connected as the Marvel movies. Not to a point when they need a reboot to do everything.
I think they will keep it going, and improve along the run. But there will be changes in the staff. Definitely going to keep Snyder around but give him less input in the movies, probably going to take away Justice League from him (George Miller, please), hire better producers and better writers.

I will watch every DC movie nonetheless, unless they’re “Fant4stic” level. I don’t think a Flashpoint Paradox movie is necessary, most of the DC characters have not been introduced in this “MoS Universe”, so they are free to do almost everything.

George Miller? That’s the director for Mad Max, right? That nigga should stop pussyfooting and change his mind about working on Mad Max 2.

He has already said he wants to work on a future Mad Max movie, just not rightaway, he’s exhausted.

I guess wonder woman is officially cancelled. I mean who in their right minds would want to see a movie with an extra character that starred in the biggest disappointment of the year. The rest of the dceu movies are likely to say goodbye as well… even if ssquad "somehow"becomes as good as dark knight and winter soldier… it won’t be enough to save it.

Wonder Woman finished shooting, IIRC, there’s no way it’ll be cancelled. And the movie is not THAT bad for what I read, disappointing yes messy yes but not abysmally terrible… I think that’s just a bad episode but the DCEU can keep going, I’m sure, just rework many things.

Suckas! Told yall keep your panties unbunched.

Snyder simply doesn’t understand Superman, and in the latest interviews he even says he’s doing everything right and that his Superman is just the same as in the comics. Clearly he doesn’t have a brain. They have to replace him or put someone to supervise him and prevent him from doing more dumb shit.

Its gonna be great when everyone here watches it and then we can thoroughly and specifically destroy this movie from the inside out.

DC just handed Marvel the W. And its not even gonna be close.

I have a general problem: His Superman is a newbie, he’s angsty, he’s bland and he’s kind of dumb.

Superman in the comics is much more of a very prepared, strong-willed, empathetic guy and always really smart (he has to be in order to solve every situation without recurring to violence too often). He has studied the culture of Krypton and he’s doing his best to preserve the legacy of his planet.

In Man of Steel, as soon as he gets in the Fortress of Solitude, he just puts the suit on and goes away flying, weee!!

I know he was supposed to be a newbie Superman in Man of Steel, but for what I’ve read, things get even worse here. He remains a murderer and has a wooden personality.
