Ugh, I hope by “older” they mean around 28-30 and still a beast. Not that Wonder Woman and Supes are timeless but in an age where they have teleportation technology and can give people superpowers in a pill or by putting on a flight ring the super genius is old and decrepit.
It doesn’t make any sense from a logic standpoint.
I’m really bummed if this isn’t a World’s finest type deal, I really hate this forced rivalry between Batman and Superman because their friendship is one of the best things I really like about Superman. It’s already hard enough to enjoy or even tolerate Supes with how much he’s been dumbed down in the last couple years.
Maybe it’s just me but the whole in-fighting between teammates thing has always been an Avengers thing and the Justice League to me has always seemed and been in comics about that. It’s normally taken an elseworld story to have leaguers fighting so I don’t think I’ll be able to get into the hype for any of this.
Makes me worried how they’d plan the marketing for a Flash film
shit at 28-30 Batman was still making rookie mistakes and ignorant of the fact sticking a kid in underwear and cape might be frowned on. By older am hoping its a mid 40s still prime mean motherfucker who has already got the history of putting down the Rogue Gallery.
An older Batman for me would be around 35. That’s the oldest they can make him while still being in his prime. I hope an older Batman means bringing the Bat family into film. Robin needs silver screen love.
Hey, I know this is off topic and all, but I didn’t know where else to ask and I just saw flashpoint paradox, and two things keep bothering me.
Spoiler
During deathstroke’s attack on Aquaman’s battleship, who is the girl working for Aquaman that fights some of Lex’s soldiers? She’s the only one I didn’t recognize. And did Thomas’s wife being the joker show up in the comics or was it the exact same?
On topic, an older Batman (mid 30s I’d say) would be pretty good actually. As long as they don’t Frank Miller it up with him spending the entire film just calling Clark an idiot and bragging about how much smarter he is.
No that’s not what I’m saying, theres a very clear difference between Arrow & Smallville and the Batman series, if anyone else said what you just said (with exception of the obvious others) I would think they haven’t watched the shows. But I know you have, therefore you’re just trolling. When was the last time Bruce Wayne rubbed baby oil all over his body and walked around the house half naked, where his greatest challenge was the triangle relationship he was stuck in?
2/10 Sir
I don’t have stats infront of me, I’m not saying Superman isn’t the icon of DC, he certainly hasn’t been relegated to Ronald McDonald status. But I’m betting kids brought up in the 90’s and 00’s are more familiar with Batman than Supes, thanks to the cartoons and movies. It’s kinda like how Spiderman used to be Marvels, then Wolverine and Ironman came along and said, kids should be seen but not heard.
When I think of the word superhero, I immediately think of Superman. You honestly think the first superhero that kids/teens these days will think of is him too, nah man nostalgia is clouding your logic.
It’s interesting how you draw that analogy, considering how nobody predicted the runaway success of either Superman or Spider-Man, but Batman and Wolverine were both essentially made successful by fiat. I have to wonder if that kind of top-down marketing just works better by pushing people’s cynicism buttons.
Don’t know about that, Batman is an odd one, they kept switching between campy or serious whenever his ratings dipped. Nolan definitely pushed people’s cynicism buttons but Batman has so much hope and faith it’s the opposite of the viewer, maybe that’s why people found Nolan’s Batman so much more compelling. Wolverine, not so much I don’t think. Wolverine success might have bigger surprise to the studio execs than Superman and Spidey.
lol is this a joke…of course superman will always be thought of instantly when people think of super heros. Like damn even the term "super"hero is implicit towards supes himelf…and over 50+ years as a universal global concept will mean more to people then a few shows and movies. Again supes is apart of day to day language which bats has yet to achieve in spite of the recent push by DC. When bats gets a shot out from the obama then maybe we can have a real contest here.
On the note of what kids and teens consider these days…I dunno about you but I still see lots of little boys wearing capes pretending they can fly cause they think their a certain someone and heres a hint, it aint bruce.
I asked my little sis who is the first character that pops into her head when I say Superhero, she said Batman lol. But also pointed out that most people will say Superman simple because he has Super in his name lol
Wolverine’s success was definitely by fiat. They were putting that son of a bitch on covers of comics he wasn’t even in. You HAD to like him… and it worked.
And Batman was also technically by fiat, given that NAP demanded a new Superman-esque character to capitalize on the runaway popularity of the only other Superman-esque character in existence at the time.
Lol the kids of today are the ones who are gonna have nostalgia clouding their judgement, unless they are picking up the books they dont have a clue wtf is going on really.
Spoiler
All current media with the exception of the DC OAV series on Superheros marvel/dc both are completely fucked with their character portrayals
Though I am now somewhat intriqued about a CW Batman show. It would run for half a season and show Bruce Wayne trolling Clark Kent by banging Lois Lane and running over Martha for lols in a Ferrari.
lol I definitely do not want a CW Batman, if they want to do Robin or Nightwing then go nuts.
I should have been clearer, jokes aside I don’t know where your perception of this is coming from, but I have a young sis and young cousins that like to talk a lot about these shows, so that’s where my opinion is coming from.
I don’t think you can categories people feelings as a whole, it changes with each generation. It’s the reason why we have another Spiderman movie, and talk of rebooting Batman, it’s nothing like how it used to be when we were kids. I doubt when this generation of kids turn 30 they will look back and talk about Batman, Superman and the others like we are now. They have comics, videogames, movies, cartoons and animes running parallel with expanding universes, yet not sharing the same cannon, crossovers and then it all seems to recycled/repackaged/rebooted every 10 years for the next younger audience.
Maybe one day we can see high level enemies like these in comic movies. sigh. Well this movie still has potential for multiple awesome enemies and even supergirl. mmmm, yum, superman, supergirl and (hi tech) batman vs amazo would be dope. the rock as amazo? lol
LOL Super Ninja Batman is best Batman. I love how he can ghost on anyone at anytime no matter their powers.
BTW I’ve quite a few people online say Superman Returns is better than Man of Steel besides the Supes/Zod fight so should I check it out? Never seen because at the time everyone says it was a waste of money so I dunno if it’s Supes hate on current success or if it’s underrated or what?
The message board for Man Of Steel over at IMDB is ridiculous with that Returns is better talk. That message board sounds like a bunch jilted prom dates.
