Batman has a new cartoon or show every year.
Batman is responsible for most of DC lucretive mainstream ventures which is why he gets the most animated movies, cartoons, even in games he gets special treatment over EVERY other hero.
Times have changed and Batman has definitely surpassed Supes as the face of DC. Although this debate could go on forever both are the biggest Icons in the comic world by far and away over anyone else. So itās kinda arguing semantics.
Batman shows have ALWAYS been way more popular than Superman shows.
The superman cartoon introduced during BTAS run was pretty neat, and adventures of Lois & clark had an endearing charm to it, even though it was goofy as hell sometimes(seriously, did ANYTHING happen in that show?). Thats about it though.
Nobody gave a damn about smallville.
You say that, but it ran for ten seasonsā¦ most shows are lucky to get a run half as long.
Itās not on my list of favorite shows(I think the well ran dry around season 4 or so) but you canāt deny that it had to have some type of success to run that long.
Besides, it gave us Allison Mack and Erica Duranceā¦ canāt be all bad with hotness like that on display.
Yeh this generation of kids have grown up on Batman cartoons (Supes did have one with Krypto the superdog not sure how long that ran for or how popular that was). Smallville targeted that female teen demographic which Batman wouldnāt have appealed too.
Quick way to sum it up, Superman had TV shows that were bullshit, Batman had cartoon shows that were awesome.

A modern TV show for Batman wouldnt work cause its about a brooding miserable bastard who is fully human but tortured himself to be most badass guy in a world full of mutant/alien/magic/etc freaks. I agree on this partially, Superman will always be the face of DC and is the definition of superhero in general. Since the golden age. However Batman is undeniably the fan favourite these days, since the 70s hes went from caped detective to god tier untouchable. Superman is usually portrayed as quite consistent all things factored, Batman is always on the up, hes got Darkseids respect, hes fucked over the omega sanction, he is defacto JLA boss, he even has a butler. Cant mess with that.

It IS him that they dedicate movies and shows to without having to worry if itāll get an audience. And itās Batman they pair other characters with to try to get them over with a bigger audience.

Sonā¦bats has no where near the appeal supes does as a universal concept people apply on a daily basis. Supes isnāt just regulated to comics or pop culture he transcends to a whole new realm.
People donāt say"your not batman"ā¦damn look at DBZ and the appeal that has over a whole nation and that series is basically just the Asian superman. Bats is still just a pop cultute icon at the end of the day whereas superman is a "concept"that dates back to days men began writing on walls.
