IMO, for a Justice League or any joint Batman with any other ridiculous super hero, you need a ridiculous type of Batman. Crazier gadgets, fighting giant robots, etc. Bale Batman is too realistic to be able to match up with Superman.
I don’t wanna watch a live action DKR movie… Like makes no sense for them to “fight” against each other. I think Batman’s second appearance on the 80s-2000s run involved a robbery of Luthor’s kryptonite ring by some scientist. Then she got mugged and the ring went to Gotham where Batman pretty much got all the info on Superman (highschool stuff, etc). In the end, Superman earns Batman trust and viceversa and that’s how Batman got to keep the kryptonite ring. That would be something I would like to watch although I understand it would be not as appealing to masses as having a Wayne Tech Jaeger fighting a Superman with WWE moves.
The name of this thread is Batman Superman movie, and many aren’t treating this like its only a Supes movie so I dunno why they just didn’t make a World finest movie.
You really think Batman is gonna show up for five minutes and bounce? I don’t.
I know there’s alot of overdefensive Supes fans but c’mon. Having a huge character like Batman this early without even a script?
Just make it a World’s Finest movie and stop bullshiting, or better yet a Trinity movie.
Its weird because he is and yet…Batman is waaaaay more popular. Hollywood is always afraid to take a chance on Superman, which is why they loaded Man of steel with 180 million in product placement. Ensuring a decent profit even if it flopped.
And why they’re too afraid to chance a 2nd solo Superman film without throwing Batman into it this early. Trying to make supy cool by association in audience eyes or whatever. Or perhaps banking on those who saw the nolan trilogy going to see this one too because Batman is there.
Batman is more popular but superman is more famous.
Bats will likely never reach superman level icon status just by the fact that supes is more of a symbol and less a character. To put it simply, superman is ryu and batman is ken.
Batman:TAS ran for a good amount of years, led up to Superman getting his own series for a bit, and is a constant animated success. And Live-Action…well, there’s Adam West.
There’s more people who have seen Batman on TV than Superman.
Not to mention there’s a REASON shows don’t often run as long as Smallville. It tends to be very bad for the creative integrity of the show, Smallville was no different.
How’s this pulling facts out of my ass? In this case it’s laws of probability.
The main Superman Shows on TV (and I’m not going to count Justice League/Young Justice as both Bats and Supes are stars there) were Lois and Clark, Smallville and Superman: TAS.
The main Batman shows? The Adam West Batman, Batman: TAS (by extension you could throw Beyond in there, but I’ll let it slide for obvious reasons), The Batman and Batman: Brave and the Bold (and now doing Beware the Batman, but I won’t call it a main effort until it goes past one season).
Now most of Batman’s efforts are animated so most would probably say “Since most of stuff is cartoons, obviously more people will watch Superman as most of his were Live Action and thus gathers greater interest.”
But the thing is that Batman’s efforts are also a lot more widespread. Since the 90’s, Batman does not go very long without something on TV. Hell there was even a time where Batman: TAS was on Primetime. That means that multiple age gaps have seen Batman from youth. Plus he didn’t put all of his eggs into one Long-Runner basket like Superman often did.
What’s more likely, people jumping in late to see a couple of Supes long runners or catching one of Batman’s many animated shows? Remember, I’m not saying Batman is better, or more popular or more famous or any of that bullshit. But it’s simple math that more people will have seen Batman on their TV than Superman. At worst, it’s even.
I believe that I was answering a question about Superman not having a television presence since the 90’s, which he, in fact, has had.
Whatever TV presence Batman has had, Superman has had just as much.
The Fleischer cartoons, George Reeves’ serial/live-action series, Superfriends(counts for both Batman & Superman), the 80’s Superman cartoon, the Superboy syndicated TV series, Lois & Clark, Superman:TAS, Justice League/JLU(again, both got screen time here), Smallville, Legion of Super-Heroes, even those American Express commercials featuring Jerry Seinfeld… Supes has had quite a bit of TV exposure over the years. I also remember a long time ago they did a TV special celebrating his 50th anniversary… Don’t think Batman got anything like that for his 50th anniversary, but whatevs.
