Batman: Gotham Knight DVD - anime style prequel to Dark Knight. Dir. by Bruce Timm

Picked up the single disk DVD from Target for 14.99 because it came with the two part Batman Beyond pilot, lol.

Overall a good film. The first story wasn’t great, but that’s partially because the animated series did a similar concept with “Legends of the Dark Knight”, and did a far better job of it. Second story was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Field Test was really good. I guess the art style didn’t bug me too much because I’m used to it by now. Acting and story was top notch though. Working Through Pain was brilliant, as everyone else in the thread has stated. By far the best story on the disk. The 4th story was bleh. It felt rushed and the animation and art were pretty bad. Deadshot was good. It’s always great to see Batman scare the shit out of people.

On the double disk they included a few batman eps…including “Legends of the Dark Knight.”

It was a bunch of meh filler. I was kinda intrigued when they said it would fill the gap in between BB and DK, but nothing felt integral. All I kept hoping for was maybe some original Batman: TAS animation to go along with what was essentially a wasted effort for Conroy :frowning:

Personally, I thought it was some kind of tribute to Death Note during that one bit when Batman was reaching his hand out, and with headlights on behind him, it made him look all Light Yagami-God of the New World, except it’s motherfucking Batman.
