You’re making me want to buy the DLC, just to see what it do!
I think if there was some reason to make the other charachters disarm, that would be great. It’s not missed with Catwoman, but she’s twice as nimble. With Nightwing wielding the dual stun batons, why couldn’t the disarm electrically burst the wooden bat, cause the ammo to detonate inside the gun.
So who is better, Nightwing or Robin?
I’ll go through some of Nightwing’s challenges tonight and see if I notice any of these things you mention. I’ve done I thinkthe first row of combat and maybe 1 predator with him, but I swear his momentum was better than Batman’s.
As for X+O in bullet time, I don’t see where this becomes an issue. It stuns a large radius and you can’t be hit until he recovers. Unless your complaint is just visual displeasure, which is fine, can’t argue that.
I respect your opinion on this. It’s just personal preference, but I personally disagree. I think the accuracy, attention to detail, and varying combat styles between the 4 characters is what makes this game badass. I would be less inclined to play Nightwing if he could do the same shit Batman does. I don’t think they are “taking away options” if they never had them in the first place. They don’t need to be perfectly balanced, and they shouldn’t be.
I feel like the limitations Nightwing/Robin/Catwoman have compared to the Bat add another layer of depth to the gameplay. For one, specific scenarios that would be easy enough for Batman may be slightly more difficult, so you feel like you’re playing NIGHTWING instead of Batman Jr… Let’s be real. Batman shits all over the other 3. He SHOULD. He’s the God Damn Batman. They can’t do what he does. If you put Batman in a specific scenario (such as a predator challenge)… And put Nightwing in the same scenario… Both should be able to accomplish their goals, but Batman is going to do it better. Nightwing or Robin or Catwoman should have a slightly more difficult time. This is conveyed very well in the game imo. I think they did an amazing job making each character feel like themselves instead of Batman clones.

Yeah, it’s just a visual complaint. I’d prefer something like Catwoman’s X+O. The gratuitous slow motion with Batman was something that bugged me in Arkham Asylum, and I was really glad they got rid of it. I admit that I’m just a momentum nazi heh.
Nitpicks aside, I do enjoy playing as all the characters on a basic level. It’s just that I have so much fun with Catwoman’s style, that Nightwing and Robin feel kinda meh by comparison.
Oh I agree with you there. I find Batman and Catwoman both to be a LOT more fun than Nightwing and Robin. Catwoman mostly cuz she’s hot though.
i get my ass kicked a lot when playing Catwoman. Her longer, more acrobatic animations fuck up my rhythm.

Also is it just me or does it seem like Batman doesn’t like sidekicks in this universe? In Arkham Asylum he told a guard that “I work better alone” and in Arkham City it sounded like he was annoyed at Robin’s presence.

This games story reminds me of Nightfall. Batman refused help with ANYTHING and did stuff that only made things harder for himself and others and was extremely stubborn in Nightfall, just like he is in AC.
Sometimes Bruce thinks only he can fix the problem and no one else can. He gets mad stubborn, refuses help and does stuff that makes things harder. The conversation that leads to the boss fight with Freeze is a perfect example.

He had planned to find Nora all along and yet he still had to argue with Freeze about it and because of it he had to fight the man and because of it he missed out on getting his cure leading to all the shit after Wonder Tower. If he’d have just stopped being a stubborn ass the night would have been half as hard.
Why did he take up sidekicks if he doesn’t like them, which doesn’t make much sense to me or maybe it’s the the writer expressing his dislike for sidekicks.
It’s not much that he doesn’t like them, but h gets in moods where he doesn’t want them involved with things he feels are too dangerious. He thinks Arkham City is toooooo much for anyone but himself. Part of the stubborn thing. One of the first things he told Selina to do was leave. He doesn’t want them getting hurt.
Would catwoman only have slightly less trouble. To me going on what little comics I’ve read and from the shows and movies she doesn’t seem like she’s anywhere near Batman’s level. Playing a challenge map with her that has the league ninjas in it I would think she would die against them since going from the game’s story they were trained since childhood.

But Catwoman has ultra sexiness by her side. All that sex appeal distracts even the most harden female ninja.
Honestly she does have a much harder time. Take for instance the final Catwoman mission after the credits. On NG+ I had a hell of a time with this last night. It took me forever to get past this. I kept thinking to myself, this would be 10000x easier if I could disable weapons, use sonic batarang, or freeze grenades. I got past it though eventually.
So I just beat NG+ and I’m at like 96% now… Gotta do all the side missions too on NG+ for 100% 
The only sidequest I have left in the standard game is the Identity Theft Serial Killer. I’ll try to fly through NG+ aver the next week or so.
I can’t really agree with your complaints about nightwing, so far i have completed all challenges for both bat and catwoman and have only a few campaigns left for nightwing. They each have a unique flow to them, and while batman is the strongest with his freeze gadgets and disarm/destroy special, nightwing still has a bunch of unique things that make him very fun.
Off topic question: is there any word on when the robin and jokers challenge map DLC’s might be released to poor saps like myself who didn’t purchase from best buy etc.? I really want a 4th character to play as haha.

Robin DLC is available Nov 22nd. No idea about the Carnival. I thought AA’s pre-order DLC wasn’t released for several months.
Also, Sefton Hill supposedly made a “no comment” comment on Scarecrow DLC. What do you guys think? More playtime is always appreciated, but I thought they were going to save him for a 3rd game.
Now that I’m playing Robin, I wish I could go back to Nightwing lol.
