Barrie's Premier Marvel vs Capcom Tournament: March 5, 2011

Hope they have fun playing with themselves.

Backing out, no reason to gamble on an hour and a half long trip for a tournament that MIGHT happen.

el taco v2.0

El Taco redeem himself fully with his last tourney the venue was one of the nicest i been to…

Barrie credibility on running a tourney ever again is ganna be shot down

Lol shot down in flames before it even got off the ground.

good show fellas.

I get a text saying the tourney is off and i figured it must be miscommunication and it will get sorted out by the time I get home. 8h latter I’m home…guess not lol.

Man i’m sorry to hear everyone not coming anymore. I’m one of the co-ordinators friends and he never asked me to take calls or help. I had no idea so many people are bailing due to miscommunication.

Please don’t be bitter, from what I know he dropped out due to lack of interest.

Even through all the BS and miscommunication The tourney is still happening it has been taken over by another co-ordinator. We still want people to come out to Barrie and keep the scene here alive.

Thanks.

I think it’s a little late for that now… the interest seemed to be there, since omega was working hard to assemble team heroes world, and of course, jack and HQ was gonna go… but i guess total lack of communication really killed it.

TOSF will not be attending this event. Well at least Quan and I will not be there. Better luck next time. Cheers!

guys it’s still happening.

the communicaton problems are an unfortunate issue that we’re trying to hammer out. It’s still happening, it’s still going on, I’d love for people to show up.

I’ve been in contact with the venue operatior, the original organizer has backed out it seems unfortunately due to some issue cropping up that’s really none of anyone elses business. All it means it there will be a handfull less players and a few less tvs to game on which we will be able to remedy before start.

That being said I can assure you guys that it is in fact still going on with or without him., as I’s stated multiple times.

The lack of interest ins soley on the one person’s part, He just doesn’t like MVC3 as much as other people and has since withdrawn himself from supporting the event, I can assure you though we are still holding it.

Please still show up.

If half the pepole show up that say they will then we will have an ok tournament.

The tournament WILL happen. There is a difference between a guy saying the tournament, ent is not happening and I won’t be attenting due to lack of interest. Feel freee to contact the venue operator for confirmation since it’s happening at a store and has been scheduled since early january, it can’t just not happen. its still going on regardless of if there are 60 people or 6 ppl.

Venue number (705) 721-GAME

Store owner’s name is Josh

I can assure you it’s still happening

We’ll recover, this is just a bump in the road and will be resolved.

it is happening. the venue operator dosnt have a cellphone he does everytring land line so he couldn’t have sent you that text. please ignore it and attend.

just show up! :stuck_out_tongue: it’s still going to happen, the thing is going down right beside a college so even if the main skill base of barrie decides to back out for unknown reasons I’ll go and drag over some college guys for you all to thump on and take their money.

oi, just get your buts up here.

OMG! Games and Collectibles
130 Bell Farm Road, Unit 10 Barrie, Ontario Canada

I’m not sure how to get a google map up on here.

It is still going down, and our elite 5 are still going to appear even if they are down a member or two.

We’ve all been there, sometimes life gets in the way or smacks you in the face, this is just one of those times and it created a perfect storm of crap at the worst possible time communicationwise.

cricket sounds

We’re Setup and ready to go.

For what it’s worth, here’s the link to the Google Map.

All that can be said is that you* blew it this time. But the key word in that phrase is this time. Don’t let it discourage you from attempting another tournament, but you* are gonna have to work twice as hard next time to reassure everyone here that it’s not going to fizzle. El Taco managed to redeem himself, I hope you can too.

  • you collectively i.e. Saturday Fight Night, or p.much anyone else from Barrie, it seems

sorry man, but no one from toronto, sauga or waterloo is coming now. You cant message people who live 2 hours away at 9am and tell them its still going on. Best of luck today though.

wut

I repeatedly confirmed it but alas…

There will be a next time. One of the primary motivation this time round was to get some tips and pointers to make future events more enjoyable to attend, this time We learned (constant) communication is key. -.-; and to in the future not leave all the logistics up to one person.

Thanks. We’ll do better in the future.

Good luck next time around guys.

My feedback here is that if there are people involved or representing your “scene”, they should live up to their commitments. If they are unable to manage or organize the tournament it is their responsibility to either cancel the event or pass the torch so to speak, in order to ensure everything runs smoothly.

I personally invested a lot of time and energy in putting a team together to come up, in addition to marketing the event despite not being affiliated with Barrie whatsoever. Let’s just say my salt runneth deep for the moment.

The fighting game community is wide-spread and this tournament would have been a great opportunity to put Barrie on the map with high profile, out of town players in attendance, a live stream, etc.

This is unfortunate. Hopefully down the road someone else from the scene can take ownership to ensure this type of issue is not repeated.
