Barrie's Premier Marvel vs Capcom Tournament: March 5, 2011

I repeatedly confirmed it but alas…

There will be a next time. One of the primary motivation this time round was to get some tips and pointers to make future events more enjoyable to attend, this time We learned (constant) communication is key. -.-; and to in the future not leave all the logistics up to one person.

yeah man, its nothing against you at all. Just look at it from other peoples point of view. Would you drive 2= hours to a tourney run by people you have never met, especially when you hear the original organizer isnt attending due to lack of interest. Also the thread being a ghost town by everyone from barrie (besides u) for the past 2 weeks didnt help.

Should you run another tourney in the future I am sure everyone will give you guys another chance

My feedback here is that if there are people involved or representing your “scene”, they should live up to their commitments. If they are unable to manage or organize the tournament it is their responsibility to either cancel the event or pass the torch so to speak, in order to ensure everything runs smoothly.

I personally invested a lot of time and energy in putting a team together to come up, in addition to marketing the event despite not being affiliated with Barrie whatsoever. Let’s just say my salt runneth deep for the moment.

The fighting game community is wide-spread and this tournament would have been a great opportunity to put Barrie on the map with high profile, out of town players in attendance, a live stream, etc.

This is unfortunate. Hopefully down the road someone else from the scene can take ownership to ensure this type of issue is not repeated.

We were really really looking forward to stream exposure too since thats a lot easier to archive and upload to Youtube afterwards. There was a lot of advertising done on our end too, but it was the torch passing that never took place that hurt us most and me being busy last night so i couldnt stem the tide of abandonment.

Well we have 16 players so far so its not a total wash out.

I never said you were going jack, i said you WAS gonna go. that’s great actually cause me and jon were stuck at Heroes World today anyway, so we couldn;t have gone regardless. if this happens again, we now might be able to go! SCORE!

Yeah, I guess this needs to be a lesson… if you want to convince people to drive far out of their way, there needs to be constant communication to let them know what is going on. A miscommunication like this could have been totally avoided, if someone had just bothered to check the thread and reply, after omega orochi found out the organizer had backed out.
