Naruto 4 - Akamaru was banned. Karasu was banned for a long time, but became legal near the end of the game’s lifespan, but nobody used him anyways, so whatever.
SC2 - Necrid was banned, as well as the console exclusive characters.
SCIV - Algol was banned for a little, then unbanned.
Tekken 5 - Jinpachi was banned
I believe all the “Bonus Characters” are banned from SCIV, but not sure. They’re basically clones of others in the cast, but some had different range or things like that…?
Did the Smash people ever ban Meta Knight?

I think no one uses the bonus characters because most of them are quite bad when it comes to versing the higher tier characters. Wouldn’t say they’re necessarily banned.
just to clarify, in EFZ, unknown (who is actually the kid version of that one chick, the music note one) isnt banned
Werent people like Igniz, Duo Lon, and that “koko desu ka” jerkoff banned from KOF tournaments? I wouldn’t know, cause as far as I know, the only KOF people care about is '98.
In KOFXI, people banned the console-exclusive characters because…uhh…they said so.
i was under the impression they had better hitboxes. ashlotte is astaroth but smaller. who wouldn’t want that? i think shura had increased range over cervy too.

igniz was never constructed as a playable character as far as i know. same with goenitz (except in SvC, but that never really caught on). i think duo lon has always been playable.

I’m SURE people are trying to recreate the arcade experience during competitions, but seriously, I thought the whole purpose of banning characters was because they were overpowered/broke the game? So why ban the console characters if they’re not exactly “broken”? Would a little variety REALLY hurt the tournament scene?
And it’s not like many people who played the arcade version DIDN’T play the console version of KOF XI, so fuck that noise…
Although it’s been AGES since I’ve played CvS2, I’ve always thought that there wasn’t anything bannable about the console exclusive characters outside of the whole “console exclusiveness”. They all have horrible defense and I don’t think that even God Rugal and Shin Akuma really had the offense to offset that.
I play ZERO Brawl, but from what I can tell Metaknight is not banned.
I hate Gill. He is so cheap. Parry’s every thing I throw at him and every attack. When I am able to akuma death move him I know I sent him to hell.
Akamaru was to short to hit so that makes sense, and Karasu had a No Guard ao that makes sense, Necrid (Heihachi, Link, and Spawn) to keep it SC only, imo I think Algol should get the ban hammer or at least the soft-ban because he’s just flat out annoying, Jinpachi would be banned for obvious reasons :looney:
For GG I’m pretty sure Justice and Kliff got the ax (console characters), I hear Metagame Metaknight got the soft ban and in some places they ban the Ice twins as well, I dunno if May Lee in KOF 2001 was banned but she was broke as fuck, as for Igniz he’s boss status but I think any form of Goenitz that’s not his 96 form is far imo

Necrid should be banned for aesthetic reasons, if nothing else
There’s been countless talks about it over the weeks and it’s just a neverending debate about it. most of the answers were, “Yea he’s beatable lets not ban him” yada yada
I think Shin Akuma and Ultimate Rugal have very high priority and damage to offset the horrible defences though, so they have the potential to be game breaking.
Never had a problem with Evil Ryu or RoB Iori.
Also in guilty gear all gold, black and ex characters are banned as well.
in the first ggxx robo ky was banned, dizzy no
