i know i’m late to this discussion, but DSB is not just ‘high-risk’. because it’s so slow, good players will ALWAYS throw you out of it or worse. balrog doesn’t have a regular overhead and you can tech throws crouching in this game, so downback + late OS throw tech beats everything balrog does in a blockstring except DSB, which is why everyone looks for it.
'sup Guys, i just played in a tourney a couple weeks ago here in Maring, Brasil.
Even though i was a little bit nervous, which i think is pretty normal in such an event like this, i think i could play beyond what i was expecting.
I sent the champion to the losers bracket on the first phase of the tourney ! Then i played the winners finals but i lost, then i had to face the champion again
in the losers finals and this time, he won. I ended up in the third place but, still, i’m satisfied.
So, summing it all up I only played 5 matches (3 Sagats and 2 Akumas), and all of the players that i faced are my local friends, and one of them is even my cousin (Sarda). I didn’t have
the opportunity to face any unknown or new players to me, i guess i just got bad luck in my poll draft.
I’d like you to give me some overall gameplay tips and if you want to point out some of my mistakes in some of the matchups, feel free to do it.
Some of the mistakes i try to improve myself such as some of the wrong dash and ex dash punches that i use in unsafe situations. Some noob/childish jumps and thinks like that.
And some combo mistakes that really cost me some rounds. I’m already all aware of that.
The three of the first matches i think i played with a little more focus (and i’m not saying this just because i won), but on the last two i guess i was a little wreckless on my attacks.

Chun-Li advice please! Exclude the obvious, where I missed two easy combos and pressed RH when he had super. The problem was pressure and forcing him into more punishment windows.
Nice play. i think you pay him too much respect. Not a single jump in to anticipate his sonic boom. he must have thrown in 100 times in that match lol…
heres a video of me fighting a guile online…i have some trouble with the match (ended up winning) but had trouble getting in on a heavily defensive guile. i feel like i was holding down back too much but oh well. any advice on my play would be awesome, if you can tell whats going on =P
but yeah, only reason i won was because i cornered him and he had no idea what to do and panicked
i know i made some punishment errors (should have c.mp into HB instead of just HB when he whiffed flash kick etc) and messed up pretty much all my link combos lol, but other then that, im looking at how to get in on guile

You had no trouble getting in. He let you jump on him for free and he wouldn’t even block. Had you combo every time you jumped on him you would have won the match easily
suppose youre right, guess ill have to just keep practicing my combo execution. i should have followed up a few of those jump ins with something other than jab (maybe c.mp or c.hk) as i only hit 1 jab before i was out of range

Patience is always required against the zone from any character. Don’t jump over every boom, mix up some blocking, FADC, max range TAP, EX Rush Punches. A good player knows every option you have, its your job to keep them guessing. Once you pressure him into the corner be very mindful of grabs and jump ins, since he will be constantly looking to get out of it. Don’t let him and it makes every boom he throws very unsafe.
you need to walk around more, most of the match you were standing at 3/5 screen away in crouch block, neutral jumping over fireballs
walk in, play footsies a little bit, you essentially had him in the corner(your advantage) but never pressed on it
just be careful and decicive with your offense and you should do better
Doesn’t look like you need advice because it looks like you have a very solid rog, despite you being in a very small community like Brazil. You look like a natural, so just keep playing more to get better
Against Sagat, the best tip I can give is, be more unpredictable. Max range S MP also beats Sagats max Range S HK

Here is a list from my last session against a friend who plays Dhalsim. I have almost no experience in this match-up (and others because I hardly played SF4 online) and I’m not used to play online just yet and keep speeding the c.lp, c.lk link and chaining it instead and miss the special cancel.
I really need tips because I’m really trying to step-up my game this time around now that I’m playing Boxer exclusively.
I personally think ultra 2 is a waste of time. Even vs. Dudley. Also you need to standing medium punch Dudley every time he jumps in. It beats that j.RH of his clean unless you waite extremely late to do it. It almost has to be on purpose for it to trade.

How do u block the shoryuken? It seems kind of weird to me, sometimes I block it low, then I got hit while blocking low…
I am asking cause you got hit by it a lot in this fight.
