Balrog Combo/Tech Thread

o_o?

It’s a mix-up, mobility and combo tool. Use the overhead to catch people crouch blocking, use the raw v-skill to dodge fireball and retain charge, cancel v-skill from straights to get in their face quickly for a throw/low, use v-skill punch follow up to either punish fireballs when in range or to extend certain combos.

Still dont get it im that new

I don’t think watching a video would help you much if you can’t understand that. Take a step back and learn the concepts of the game and that should help out learning how to use certain tools, check out some SF tutorials on YouTube and written guides as well.

Im beyond that just need to see whats possible and not

2 interesting post from twitter:

I just told you O_O

I dont see one video straight up focusing on vskill i dont need a day one sfv guide i can play thr damn game just when it comes technical like his vskil yes i need a day one guide on it watching videos of a combo dont do shit for me i need baby steps

you’re heavily heavily heavily overestimating v-skill’s application within the game, it’s not that big of a deal. Literally just read what I put, those are it’s uses. It isn’t rocket science.

I need a fucking video dude i cant read shit and translate it into game. I have No idea how to use this damn thing in combo other then the medium target combo. Nothing i try when i hit someone cancles into it i see it in a video f
Have no damn idea what there doing.

read that again, you’re completely overestimating how important being able to fully utilise the v-skill is

When you use Balrog’s Rush Punches you can cancel into his V-Skill before the punch lands. When you see someone V-Skill in the middle of a combo it is because Balrog is in his V-Trigger (Where he can chain Rush Punches one after another). They land one Rush Punch and begin another (but before that one can hit they input Balrog’s V-Skill)

If you land the hit, Balrog’s V-Skill won’t activate.

Sucky thing is that you get hit while you’re doing vskill spin its a counter hit. Be careful on it

I saw Kazunoko’s awesome video on Twitter and decided to explore it, since I wasn’t even aware it was possible. Rog does MONSTER stun for two bars and his trigger, makes me see his Trigger in a whole new light.

What’s the trick to 2H L dash straight? Stuck on trial 8.

-> = link
xx = cancel

So Balrog can deal 506 dmg and 703 stun WITHOUT using his CA as an ender. It requires him to already be in V-Trigger mode but here it is: j.HK/HP -> cr.HPxxEX Dash Grand Blow x2xxV-Skill P -> EX Dash Straight into Grand Blow x2 - It goes up to 523 dmg and 733 stun if the jump in is a CH. The V-Skill cancel opens up some pretty sick combo options.

Hold down/back when you pop the V-Trigger to start the charge. When you do the crouching HP it should be charged; so then just cancel into the straight.

CUTWEST vid he posted on Day 1 showed this off, not Kaz

I wrote down some of the stuff to practice

H Upper VTC EX Straight (1 Hit) Vskill P EX striaght upper upper

CC crHP H upper EX Straight (1 Hit) VSkill P VTC EX straight Upper Upper

stHK MKxxMPxxVSkill P VTC Low Rush Punch Upper Upper VSkill P EX Straight Upper Upper

Tips on the canceling into VSkill during V Trigger Rush Punches;

[s]Hold forward when you hit VSkill instead of doing forward P or K and then Vskill P

Holding forward+Vskill gives you the fastest rush punch VSkill cancel[/s]

Edit NEVERMIND THE ABOVE JUST LEAVE STICK IN NEUTRAL OR HOLD BACK

Tried doing VT EX Rush Low Upper VSkill P, if I held forward I would always get another upper, leaving stick in neutral/back I got Vskill 100%

Someone showed me this earlier, forward throw into heavy screw smash hits meaty on quick rise. It’s will beat 3 frame option but it interacts weird with Ken’s ex dp.

Just wanted to say tested this vs chun and she can wakeup cr.jab it for free. If that is the case I assume many others can as well.

As someone whose put a lot of time into Birdie, fuckin tell me about it. So many ex’s that shoulda won me the game cost me the game instead :mad:

Thats probably because screw smash whiffs on crouching characters (only ex hits crouching). Crouching moves should completely punish it.

Edit: Just got home and tested. The HK Screw Smash gets a CH on wakeup standing 3f normals, but gets beat by any wakeup crouching normal, so it’s not ideal as a meaty.
