yeah im sure i’ll bounce back but it just kinda sucks when your not playing to your full potential
Curious – What’s the best punishment move/combo for a blocked shoryuken when you don’t have a charge/Ultra?
the best punisher would probably be
cr.mp xx headbutt --> ultra
I’m pretty sure raw ultra when they land does more damage than that combo, least a full meter ultra
Otherwise if you don’t have ultra you want c. MP xx HP Headbutt. If you have one bar of super you want c. MP xx EX Rush Upper -> c. LP, c. LK xx HP Headbutt.
The best combo if you have a window for it is j. RH, s. RH, c. LK xx EX Rush Upper … whatever or instead of EX Rush Upper you can do a Dash Straight into Super
Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing, people. Anyway, the no brainer option would be c.HK for an easy knockdown when you don’t have charge. A better combo with the same results would be s.LP, c.HK, so try practicing that if you haven’t already.
Thanks guys, I’ll try to work in the LP, c.HK on those wakeup DP happy shotos that litter G2.
Can anyone go into detail on approaching a fireball throwing Sagat? They seem to get the mixture of low, high and EX fireballs just right to nail me!
My current strategy: Absorb at most 2 fireballs, then duck the high ones and forward jump the low ones to get closer while regenerating health, using an EX RU to close in and combo if he doesn’t have meter and stupidly does another fireball.
after watching evo, i guess the correct person to model your game after if you’re a noob balrog is crackfiend or justin wong…some solid fundamental play from both of them
edit - nvm found it
Sadly i cant get the C.lp–C.lp–C.lk----> Headbutt to work

Defensive Strategies
QUOTE]
Hey Jay,
Any good tips on how to train myself to be a better defensive player? I can do the BnBs pretty easy and I feel like my offense has improved significantly since few months back. However when it comes to D, i feel like I have much to learn.
More specifically AAs is my biggest weakness. I feel like I could never get the timing right for a shoto cross up or shoto jump in.
Thanks for your help.
You have to cancel the C.lk into headbutt, you can’t use the same rythm as the C.lp’s.
You do like C.lp, c.lp, c.lk-hb almost with no delay.
alright so basically i learned the ultra juggle a while ago and was able to execute it perfectly but now ive lost it , i can still do it in training so i guess i havent lost i fully but online its pretty much 1 out of 10 when it use to be 10 out of 10… so frustrating ! idk know what im doing wrong . please help a fellow balrog player out!
I don’t know your experience with the game so far but. If you are new to Balrog or to the game, it just takes awhile to get use to how Balrog works. I’m not a top player but I gone through this before. After playing with him for awhile you’ll get use to the executions. Some people are right, just practice a lot in training mode, yeah you will land more consistent in training because he is not moving. But online experience into landing that will come to you. Everyone goes through this.
Something I notice in training mode for me though. Every time I do c.lpx2 -> c.short -> fp hb -> ultra, I can never pull off the ultra on the 1p side. But when I do that online, it executes so I’m not sure but that’s something that happens to me. Just keep practicing, that’s all I can say.
REMEMBER: fp hb(pull back to 7 or back diagonal up) forward, back, forward, ppp/kkk
I hope this somehow helps you. If it didn’t, well at least I tried to help someone.
"Yea bnb link is way less strict and if you are hitting the c.mp link its probably because ur canceling more so than linking the combo.
c.lpx2 two punches can be pressed fairly quickly in succession but you must wait for the second punch to finish before hitting the c.lk into the headbutt cancel.
link= getting through the animation before next input
cancel= entering right after
c.lp xx c.lp ~ c.lk xx f. hb"
- Who is J-Mo
Who is J-Mo is a Balrog player here on SRK who told me about this tip on connecting that. After reading this, I was able to connect that pretty consistently. Good luck! All it takes is practice.
well thanks for the advice i’ll definitely take that into consideration
also some of what you said gives me hope that i really am just stuck in a rut right now
You can crouch immediately after blocking and hit him with c.lp xx c.lp, c.lk xx headbutt.
The combo will give you charge so you can do the headbutt. (works only vs fierce srk).
If you were already crouch blocking then you can do this even vs jab srk.
Hi guys,
Im thinking of starting with rog, but I have a question: how many of you play him with a pad. Ive heard that charge characters are best played with an stick.
Also supers and ultras seem to be too difficult with a pad.
Thanks.
It’s difficult to play charge characters with pad but it isn’t impossible. I played Rog on stick but when I was forced to play him on pad it was hard but I got use to it. The only thing that screws me up when using a pad is, I don’t know whether I’m charging or not. The effort of just using your thumb to do db(down back) feels like your doing nothing. Supers and ultras, well those you just have to get well rounded with the pad. Just practice in training mode but I highly advised you to get a fight stick.
