Balrog (Boxer) Beginner's Guide

Can someone help me with this combo on Balrog’s Trial mode (Hard)?

-Crouch Light Punch
-Crouch Light Punch
-EX Dash Upper
-Crouch Light Punch
-Crouch Light Kick
-Heavy Buffalo Head
-Violent Buffalo

I’m at the point where I can’t link the EX dash upper to the next c. LP. Any pro’s here or can someone help me test this out? Just can’t get 'em to link. Thanks in advance for any help.

His most abusable move would have to be jab straight rush. Its safe on block and is very quick by sfiv’s standards. Ex Rush Upper and Low are very good too. TAP and headbutt should be used very sparingly same goes with his other dash punches as they leave rog at a considerable frame disadvantage. Your anti of choice is c.fierce if you didn’t know…beats everything

you gotta time the jabs after the EX dash upper… i dont know how to explain it… but try delaying the jap after the EX a bit… it should come out…

You got that right. I’m used to just being able to rush down. But yeah C.fierce was probably my most used move tonight. So many random kens and ryus jump right into that thing every time :stuck_out_tongue: So jab rush punch is safe, along with some EX moves. Alright thanks for the info man. Oh yeah, I realized headbutt was trading with some normal jump-ins. Wtf is up with that?

I’ve got the HB to violent buffalo down-pat, just can’t get those jabs to link with the EX…I’ll keep at it…thought I might have had to cancel or something but I guess it’s not possible to.

Shouldn’t the super and ultra be called charge not chrage?

Is C.Lp,C.Lp~C.Lk xx Hp headbutt : the most efficient bread and butter combo??

anyways, I need some hints on executing it more often.

In training mode, I can only do it ever so often.

Btw, I can jump then immediately charge down. I need help with the timing between each move.

This is what I do,

I press c.lp,clp as fast as I can, then I press c.lk followed by hp really fast. The headbutt doesnt seem to have enough time to charge. Where should I add more delay to give it the full 2 second?:wonder:

the ~ (link) symbol just means doing it right after right?? Is it timing specific. I know that xx(cancil) you basicly tap one button really quicky after the other.

What move(s) do you think are the most affective aginst the turtles using the Boxer?
And is anyone else having probles fighting Able besides me?:confused:

Just slow down your links. To link a move you have to allow the move to finish before inputting another move. Watch a video where rog does C.Lp,C.Lp~C.Lk xx Hp headbutt and listen to the hits of the LK’s and LP’s. You should be able to hear the rhythm and simply just copy it. If you start charging at the same time you start the combo you won’t have enough charge stored. Try starting with a J.HK.

I think rogs best bnb is actually C.MK>C.LP>Headbutt just trying to get in the habit of using it.

according to training mode damage math, both c.mk, c.lk/lp combos and c.lp clk combo are in the 200s. c.lp is faster and c.mk may cause pushback & cause c.lp/clk to miss. c.mk is a very good normal tho.

consistency s very important for rog.

btw, c.lp x2 c.lk xx hb does the same dmg as c.lp x3 c.lk xx hb.
i should find more combo math stuff

The headbutt isnt coming out cause it sounds like your canceling into the c.lk.
you can’t cancel into a special move, if youve cancelled it from something.

Watch Rog’s arm when he does c.lp or c.lk. When his hand is almost back to neutral stance from punching, press the next button, c.lps are easy to link to this, c.lk arent as easy, and c.MP are the hardest (1 frame link :looney:) but most damaging.

example of a jump in combo (j.hp/rh) combo that really hard to do involving linking c.mp??

Let say I can link anything perfectly(:rolleyes:) whats the most damaging combo (without meter and work on crouching)

The only reason people use c.lk instead of c.mp is due to difficulty of execution?? No other problems like pushback ??

difficulty. im learning it tho. its not that difficult

doing the math, it’s about a little under 400. (394)

The damage is around 320. I can pull it off 70% of time I try.

ah ok, I dont have the console, so I couldn’t see for myself. I used the wiki+crappy knowledge of the combo scaling. (Mine does sound like a little much)

Not bad for a meterless combo.

what do you followup an overhead rush punch with? i’ve been trying c.lp and c.mp and i’m wondering if there are any better alternatives
