Oga is slow, make it safe on block, I’m sorry but with how stupidly slow it is, if someone has to block it, they deserve to be in a situation that is less favorable for them.
Roll… Umm… Why is this unsafe on block?.. And why does ex go under fireballs? So let me get this strait, you gave EX fireball invincibility, but its too slow to get to them by the time it matters anyway? K. This move is also slow as sin, it should be safe on block -2 to -1. EX should actually cover some ground like LP roll so it actually does something. Or… You could just make all rolls go under fireballs as Gen did teach Yang, and yangs roll seems to go under them just fine.
Gekiro… So, this looks like an AA. Acts like an AA. But is TERRIBLE for AA. 5 frames invincible until startup. Period. End of story, you cant fadc, so why not? It would be nice to be able to use this as an AA, as it should be for that.
Hands are fine I guess, should probably give more meter though since its a waste to even fadc these days.
Small things:
More damage on Mantis c.hk. It is an okay sweep, but only does 85 where the average is about 100 damage
Oga significantly faster or at least safer on block.
Faster roll with shorter charge time
Bigger things:
Better wake-up, either with improved gekiro or vanilla ex oga invincibility
Any of the several good suggestions for Mantis U2 (personal favorite is to give it a throw hit box to help relieve Gen’s sometimes trouble with turtles)
Oh and it would be nice to combo Gekiro after Crane j.HKx2 or at least Crane j.HKx1.

i seriously dont think gen needs much of anything. my buff request is more of, if other characters got stronger type of thing
i got a couple ideas tho.
i would like
-crane U1 to be true AA. if normal AA’s are going to be iffy, make my metered AA good
-or buff the air to air hitbox on the crane jump double roundhouse. im thinking like chun double fierce
-or make lk giekro either inv up to frame 6. this would make it a good AA and i could use it for OSes
-or make lk giekro airborne at frame 4. just in case they dont want gen mashing shit without meter. at least let me flip out with an air reset. none of this get counter hit stuffed into full combo BS
id take any of those and be a happy man just because it would fix my AA problems. other shit would just make sense. like the landing frames glitch, or making crane jabs and shorts not ass

More hitstun on j.MK to make up for that stance glitch

better AA either normal hitbox buffs, or more LK/HK gekiro invincibility
I can see you are new to Gen. He has some of the best normal AA’s in the game. No need for change.
AAing i.e. rog or blanka is hard with any normal gen has. and that sucks period.
i mean crane cr.rh is great, but its in shitty crane.
and cr.fp is really good in mantis, until you fight blanka, sakura, bison, chun, cody, ibuki, vega, shotos that know the match and use jump lk, or viper
cr.mk is good for air hurricane kicks and the second part of bisons devils reverse/head stomp, and sometimes viper burn kicks
st.fierce or st.mp are sweet vs twin dive kicks and anything from sagat and IMO rog
lol other than that gens normals for AA is good
thats my one gripe from gen, but i think they want gen to have to be situational for everything he does. like they want to make sure youre a specialist if youre playing him
Mantis s.HP works every time. Blanka’s when they jump do an instant Air to Air. Also when they are jump happy HK Gekiro. Rog is really hard to AA. but like I mentioned. Mantis s.HP rapes him.
I know where you are coming from, but it’s not impossible to AA them. Trust me once you get them down they won’t jump in any more.
Almost all characters in the game have situational AA normals. Its the way it is with normals period. I can’t think of many characters that have only 1 AA normal. Have to learn to react and use whichever is best at the time.
Give it the properties it had in Alpha 3. 10 second countdown timer. It’s useless because Gen has to take the initiative to land damage and it takes more to K.O.
Either that or have it so if they heal fully, they go into stun. It makes no sense to have a nearly useless ultra that does no instant damage or leaves them vulnerable.
instant air to air is always meh…maybe if shakudan had hitbox/start up properties like seth/ryus j.mp, that would be another story.
they wont hold up all the time for sure but still would not fear to jump in cuz s.hp does low damage AND doesnt work always (only if rog jumped at poo spacing). thats one of the reasons i want an exteded (upwards) ppp s.hp hitbox. it should punish rog/blanka EVERYTIME, if he does such stupid easy readable shit.
all or most characters have spacind dependent AA normals. i’m completly fine with characters having more than one AA normal. in fact, i would be glad if gen could AA i.e. rog with two different moves at different spacings (please dont pull out something like ppp s.lp, thats stupid). but ppp s.hp is the only AA normal that sometimes works on rog from my experience.
How is jab stupid as an aa? Its one of the best.
Gekiro needs to be able to be FADC’d out of: Stop being so humble guys, other characters can do so much worse without even FADCs (ex lunge into ultra, trade dp’s into high damage combos, rufus target combo into ultra)
old jump arc: yes I know this will make some of the new safe jump set-ups useless but think of how much more aggressive you can be again especially against characters like guile and dhalsim (although Gen’s dive kick ultra is Godlike against them)

heres a list of characters with really strong ground games. tell me if their AA games are better or worse
cammy, ken, ryu, chun, bison, akuma, sakura, gief, rog, fei, rose, hawk, vega
the only ones i think gen is better than for AA are chun, bison, and vega. theyre all charge characters, and 2 of them have an air throw, and they all have gen beat for walk speed

90% of the characters you just listed should be characters you don’t jump in on. Even if they do have good AA’s that’s why you don’t. But you can AA them just the same. For the floaty-ish characters like Chun, Bison and Vega, Gekiro HK. If you want to beat their Air throws or Air Target combos. Crane j.LK. Robs them all day.
IMO Gen doesn’t need that much. He’s def not a Evo championship character, but if he was given 2-3 small changes(and the right changes) he could be.
Seriously, people shouldn’t be jumping in on Gen unless they have a air move that can throw you off, example. T-Hawks Condor Dive. It can make you second guess AA’ing. So all you do is Mantis j.HK or. j.HP.

i dunno. i challenge every neutral situation jump in with my other characters. with gen i find myself blocking. it irks me
i think gen is extremely solid as well. if stand fierce or crouch fierce got buffed AA boxes, id shit myself
