Projectiles dont build meter?
First I would get one of those leveling things carpenters use to make sure I have a level surface. Once I have a level surface, one that is totally flat, I’d try to slip the disc between 2 easily balanced objects, and try to slowly remove them without knocking the disc over.
Oh, and then I’d take a shit all over this thread because no one cares what random srk posters with no tourney experience who can’t even play their own characters think of balancing the game.
lol 3s isn’t ‘very’ balanced, but it doesn’t matter because everyone like it for what it is. an excellent game.
Lv32 rose and everyone else talking about yang. his sa1 actually does good damage. j.rh, s.mp XX SA1 does as much damage as a Raging Demon, that’s easily a round winner.
The problem is that since lost a whole bar, which means no EX and it’s other useful links it’s used to have in SI like kick chain XX SA1 have gone, so options to land it are few and for between or moderately difficult to land/not worth it. had it kept the either the old links or the bar more people would probably use it.
Why is everyone talking all this shit about nurfing Yun Chun or Ken, I think we should use Yun as a Bar for characters and bring the rest of the cast onto his level, I would leave YCK (M?) the same and improve where nessicary the rest of the cast to a top tier level, a 3S without genejin is not as good as a 3S with geneijin and usable genejin counters.
General thoughts on this:
Give ryu more usable shit for denjin, make his high level play different from Ken
Urien just needs to do less work for agis or have better normals to charge bar
Yang just needs higher damage output
Gouki needs better health, stun or safer pokes (makoto’s easy stun is gay but i think she should be able to stun half cast with double fukiagie ender)
makoto needs some safer shit or some even crazier risky shit
Dudley needs pokes thats all
Ibuki needs better health and a better version of Sa1
The rest need considerable help.
I don’t personally think this topic was brought up the right way, perhaps if we where to think of this as a hypothetical update or 4th entry into the SF3 series then I’m sure the this discussion wouldn’t seem so pointless. At any rate this just serves as a good dioaluge(sp?) for us fans to express our opinions on the game so I don’t see a real issue, that is the point of a forum after all. Also to be perfectly honest, I do think there are some balancing issues to this game and I do have some problems with how the game turned out as far as the tiers are concerned.
For example I agree completely with the first post and poster above me about putting the rest of the cast to the same level as Yun. I think a lot of the mid tiers and especially low tiers have to undergo serious modifications to make them more playable, why not have a 2-bar Denjin Ryu or a Akuma with good stamina and EX moves. Would it be a crime if Hugo had better range with his 360 and Gigas or if he had faster normals. Is sean being at his NG self such a bad thing, cause personally i think it would be awesome to see Pink Sean dominate at Evo heh.
Alex needs an improvement with Boomerang Raid (no automatic grab if hits do not connect, kinda like how Shippu doesn’t fully go through if the fifth hit doesn’t connect; and low hit confirms (c.forward, maybe?).
na duralath, remember when that one dude scrubbed me out by catching me with the grab at the end of boomerang raid when I teleported into the corner in that one ranbat. I remember you being right there and saying afterward “never teleport into the corner against Alex.”
What an embarrasing loss
3s would be so much better if it had 2P dash lol now that wold be bad ass
I think big characters should do more damage. It’s ridiculous that Alex does about the same damage as Ken on basic pokes. Big character throws should do more damage as well. That’s how 3d games work, soul calibur series always had excellent big men since they hit hard and their throws were great.
As for the characters that are already good, it’s hard to say. Once you tone them down the ones right below them become B.S.
I agree.
I would also make the damage outut alot higher, to make the Tech feature more acceptable.
Teching should be extremely frame specific like CVS2.
As for Yun. While in Genei Jin, he either cant block or can get hit out of it like Zero 3’s V-ISM.
…
As for Sean. The only reason he got nerfed, was because he was strong ther Ryu and Ken.
I would like him to be a shoto version of Makoto.
*High stun and high damage and low stun and defense.
*Make his normals faster and more damging.
*Rape the damage of his specials but give to comboabilty back to them.
*Tornado should be comboable into supers.
*Ryubi Kyaku should be able to use in the air, however it’s angled downwards (like makoto’s Tsurigi).
*Make Sean Tackle an unblockable, untechable grab.
*Dragon Smash should keep the 3S animation, but should should have the hitbox extend out infront of him. Also should inch forward on startup. Can’t be grabbed out of it and it has the same invincibility as the other shotos.
*His supers are mostly fine, accept Hadou Burst which should be similar to Sakura’s
CVS2 hadoken and 3 hits.
*Has a mashable neutral throw, like Ken’s except its a headbutt. Low damage high stun.
Phew. Obviously changes would have to be made, for him not to be broken.
However he should be able to maintain his UFC style with these changes.
…
Also fucking give Alex his game back. It’s his and he doesn’t get the attention he deserves.
I hope you realise how ridiculously powerful that would make him.
Only when they connect with the opponent.
A) counter characters are dumb, i’d much prefer a fewof 6.5/3.5 matchups and lots of 5/5s to a shitload of 8/2s all around the board. means in a non-double elimination setup (ie a team tournament or single elimination) fighting a character means you lose period.
B) 3rd strike is not very balanced, it’s balanced enough to be quite playable, but its far from the best competitive game to play if you like all the characters. i could recommend like 20 more games that have better balance, hell i bet MK2 has better balance than 3s.
The fuck are you talking about? SA2 does 42 damage. That’s equal to Shinkuu Hadouken. It doesn’t need a damage pump, especially when Yang’s the fastest meter gainer in the game.
You-Hou (Yun SA1) sucks for damage, it only deals 53. Raishin Mahhaken deals 62, and still does that damage if chained from D+MK.
Strengthening Yang’s supers, which he’s designed to pretty much NOT use, won’t balance him. Higher stamina and/or faster slashes would serve him MUCH better.
I just thought about that properly, and your right.
Take away the LP and MP invincibilty, and just make it untechable and unblockable.
Uh I think Anyone between ken and urien is what the balance should be. enough bullshit to matter, without creating counter matches. ken is honestly the epitome of balance in the game, he has everything but none of his everything is really really good. he is the center of what i’d consider idea balance, extremely well rounded with no major flaws or strengths.
Anyway since I’m a fag:
Genei Jin doesn’t reset juggle counter.
Chun SA2 does 70% of its current damage.
Makoto does less stun, Hayate can’t juggle aerial opponents
Urien’s knee drop has invulnerability, tyrant slaughter cancelable off c.MK and HP, temporal thunder has regular fireball startup and urien recovers much faster, can do anti air versions.
elena’s f.MP is cancelable, her pokes all have slightly better priority so they can’t be counterpoked as easily or punished as well off parry.
Ryu does 15% more damage on all normal hits.
ibuki does slightly more damage on everything.
sean is still a joke character
hugo’s 360K has lower body invulnerability, clothesline upper body invulnerability for startup, high hard to hit him out of it otherwise, c.HK/c.HP replaced with something totally less stupid, like a longer range sweep with slower startup and a real uppercut respectively (like shoto c.HP). standing HK has +frame advantage on hit.
twelve can air parry during dash and airblock otherwise, damage upped by 15%
alex does 15% more damage on everything, does slightly less stun, pokes have less hittable box in them, stungun is invulnerable during whole animation.
akuma sweep recovers faster, all supers do 10% more damage.
dudley, yang and ken remain exactly the same.
Q has higher base defense, all dash punches have frame advantage (very slight), low and high dash punches cancelable, c.HK made -10 on block, b.HK cancelable in both parts, c.HP has longer active frames.
oro’s command grab actually a command grab with longer range, all moves made slightly faster.
remy’s projectiles gain meter, pokes do 15% more damage.
necros long pokes all do two hits, one for extension one for retraction, special overheads have much better priority.
this obviously wouldn’t be perfectly balanced but i think these general changes would make the game much more close. most things are aimed at bringing people up to ken/dudley/yang level.
rofl
I disagree. The ideal character shouldn’t be like Ken with no major drawbacks, or Yun with a super so good where you’re either landing it or building meter for it for 3 seconds in between. Every character should have individual flaws that allows the matchups to vary - having solid strengths to fall back on, but weaknesses to be exploited. It would be stupid to make everyone too good, plus making the worst characters as good as YCK would almost require a complete overhaul, changing the way they’re played. In my opinion the best middle ground would be around Yang/Urien/Akuma. Look at Urien, high damage potential because of aegis which he relies on, but no-meter ground game loses to Chun and shotos. Or Dudley, he doesn’t have pokes for a reason but he’s still good. You can’t just play them any old generic way like Ken, they have definitive reasons to be played because of their flaws.
So far stuff I’ve read that I agree with:
-12 air dash parrying and air chains
-genei jin being independent instead of comboed
Disagree:
-low hit-confirm for Alex (why not build on the strengths he already has instead of homogenizing the characters?)
-i think someone said two denjins for Ryu
Damn this thread.
He is only a joke character in 3S.
You know, I’m pretty embarrassed to admit this, but I honestly didn’t know that. I went into training mode and picked Hugo SAIII, and yeah, slap–slapxxSAIII does less stun than slap, slap, SAIII. How about that. I guess I want it to scale more, then?
