I agree with what you have said in regards to the two individuals whom are playing in that vid… just not the country as a whole. There are good/average/poor players in most countries, some just have more or less than others.
Best poke in the sense that it can be used for zoning/moving around etc. Well, maybe i shouldn’t have said poke and said best attack in general. If used well, you can mix up:
Again, I’m stressing proper use. spamming this move (like spaming Chun’s fierce) can get you killed, but it’s still a very good poke/attack.
wow, yeah, I dunno. Those vids were pretty nasty. Just the way they talked about it too, lol. oh man, i missed the ex shoulder! what the hell? or the hey hey hey hey chants with really weak combos that never finish because he trys to do too much.
As for what ParryAll linked us to, that was even worst despite that it was like infinite supers. The Ken play was ugly with lots of hit confirms and no supers following them.
I mean, sure, you can rag on these guys, but its their play level really weather we believe it or not. The reason they play like that is because they have no one to play that knows how to punish the large ammount of mistakes they do. These guys from NC? What kind of community do they got there? Probably nothing, I assume people are really more into Marvel and Tekken 5 over there.
Ok, me myself isn’t a very good player, but in general cases, 1,2 face a (block->)grab from a well responding opponent. Afaik neither Yun or Yang can tech due to recovery(basicly they literally get grabbed from the air). 3 and 4 should face parry->combo. Even worse is, if the high dive kick isn’t blocked the opponent recovers faster then either of those 2 land.
2 words. Bush League.
damn marv i didn’t know you were so caring of the community, gs
um, the biggest thing i would say to get over from the transference of noobness to further advancement is ideally you NEVER want to guess and ALWAYS want to try to find the safest way to get in. Remember though, like i said, this is ideally or what you should do for most of your match anyways. This is how top ranking players place consistantly, it’s because they don’t guess on dumbshit and they always take the smartest and most safest route possible.
Parrying on wake up is 90% of the time is almost never a good idea. I would rather get thrown x100 times than try to wake up parry. In 3s, you get to block for free without the crutch of a block meter so make use of it.
Ideally you will never want to guess, but irl gameplay this is not true. Some characters arn’t as blessed as others and will sometimes HAVE to take risks, but in taking those risks, make sure you’ be smart and take them at the right times. Accessing what opponent is going to do and how he will react to it is the hardest thing in 3s so it takes a lot of expereice and a good and expereinced mentality to discern when the risk is okay (i.e with ken sometimes you HAVE to wake up dp to keep them honest). Most of the time though, to keep yourself in the safest position, you will want to stay outside of their longest poke/option i.e. footsies
i.e. with ken on their wake up stand right outside of their throw range or walk in to trick them into throwing then walkout and block,
-if they whiff throw, low foward dpx2,
-if they block, walk in and throw them,
-if you they they have good reactions and will break the throw, walk in short short super and
-if they wakeup dp you will be blocking it already and then can punish them afterwards
in this situation, you are in total control and at the safest position. you cannot be wakeup dp’ed, you cannot be wakeup throw’ed and for their fuckup, even them blocking on wake up they will have a higher possibility of taking damage than you.
to conclude my ramblings, i’m not a top player so constructive critisism would be appreacitaed
Afaik you’d have to kara that second dp, because you’re far away:S If you hit them at the right time they can’t fully execute a wakeup attack forcing them to block(meaty). Meaties face reversals though, so you can’t use them all the time.
If I were a Ken and you’re outside my range I’d simply techroll. And since you’re outside my throwing range I can keep you at range simply by using c.MK or c.HK.
And if I were to break your throw, I wouldn’t really sit still you know:)
I never said anything about the country as a whole.
If they block the dive kick (I’m assuming that you’re in their face), simply jump and dive kick again. You’ll catch them in whiff-throw recovery and hit them, allowing you to follow up w/ target combo xx super.
As for parrying, that is potentially troublesome… which is why you whiff the dive kick sometimes. They try to parry, you either command grab, c.mk xx dash punch, or block (for those characters w/ DP’s). Like I said earlier, dive kicking can lead to mixups that are hard to defend against. Watch some high-level matches and you’ll see what I mean.
You seem to think your opponents are blind:/ High dive block will result in being grabbed, there is no abillity to jump out of it. Low dive block can be jumped out of, hence it should be parried.
I got this from a high level match. SBO3 finals for example shows many divekicks, 90% not even near the opponent(outside Ken’s HK range).
Well, there is a big difference between knowing what you should do, and the execution to carry it out. I don’t know how helpful pointing out their mistakes will be. There are tons of good Yun videos out there and you can learn a lot about zoing, GJ combos, mixups, using dive kicks, anti-air etc. I would imagine most serious Yun players know what to do.
I also think there is a huge bias from watching really flawless players like K.O. You’re not used to seeing mistakes. There is bias too when watching a video because you’ll think “I’ve landed that combo a thousand times” not even thinking about all the times you’ve botched the mp link after the GJ cancel (as you noticed in the movie).
If these players are relatively new, then they’ll need to learn to implement what they know into the game (e.g. combos, mixups, etc.). If they have been playing a long time, they probably need better competition to improve. Getting your ass kicked is a good way to get better.
That’s good to know
What I said is true. A good personal example I have is counter-strike. I’ve been playing it for about 5 years now. For about my first 2.5 years of playing, I just stuck to pubs and never had good competition. I started playing with a group of people at my high school who were very good and progressed more in a couple months than I had in two years. Also playing leagues and tournaments improved my overall strategy and our team game. Another group of my friends started playing when most of us had a few years under our belt and a good chunk of CAL experience. They also got rapidly better, achieving in a matter of months a level of play that took me years.
You simply won’t improve your level of play, going up against scrubs all day long. For the most part, I think you can only get good enough to beat your competition. If you want to play on the same level as someone how has played third strike since it came out, you’ll need to practice against someone at that level (though you’ll need to have your fundamentals down before then).
Well, I don’t entirely agree with not wake up parrying. If its blantly obvious that they are outside throwing and UOH range and within sweep distance, then I’m obvious going to parry low and possibly punish it the best I could. You only block if they are down your neck and you dont know what they are going to do next. Usually it might be a good idea that on the first time you wake up to a opp. down your neck. You might wanna ex dp carefully making sure they don’t dash back. Remmeber that dashing back is a sign looking for what you are going to do. Throwfake out and whatnot. Part of playing your game is making sure that you don’t get read like a book and always remain unprediactable, so down give too much info on those dash backs, so play it cool. It really depends on the character you’re facing really. Its like…just about knowing the mixups, and seeing them coming and knowing how to deal with them. I don’t know really what else to tell you.
It really isn’t charted by This = This is best thing to do.
C-royd why don’t u post some of your dudley matches
shit and i thought I WAS BAD!!!
no better yet C-Royd, why dont u post some of ure ibuki and necro vids.
