AZ Thread: Lots of events! Read 1st posts for upcoming AZ tourneys/events

Well there is no reason why there cant be two ranbats or other tournaments, I would just make sure the dates are different. I may have a few things planned for SSF4/MVC3/MK9 so keep posted and il let you know if and when I’m doing anything.

Who wants a ViewSonic Graphic Series G220fb 21" CRT monitor? Flat screen, big an heavy. Has a bit of a fuzz look to it, but works great. I’m clearing out for my new monitors. I don’t want to give it away, but the looming baby is making me do weird things, hah! PM me.

This is sad…we stepped up to do something for the community, and al people know how to do is bitch about it. Sorry, but I’ve made many 30 plusminute trips to the east for many events, we never really have anything on the west but gatherings, and people complain? If we lose 3-4 hardcore player, but gain 10 new ones, that’s a win in my book. As far as there being no top players to play, da will be there paper, is he not good enough to play? I’m caling him out as best In az right now, his mag/trish/wesker is broken.

Surf, it was planned to be streamed, but when we tested the stream yesterday, the connection wasn’t good enough for a smooth stream, so instead we are recording the wholle thing and uploading it instead.

Cory, with that post you just made, you clearly did not read half the shit that was said

Almost forgot, TooTall getting 5th at mvc3 in tucson, good job man!

Nobody was dissing it. We just pointed out some concerns, which you didn’t address… and I guess you don’t have to.

Anyways, good luck!

Easy there dude. I didn’t say there wouldn’t be top players there. Just said that knowing some won’t be would be less incentive. Was speaking only for myself, I’m sure many people will take advantage and head out for and enjoy the event.

Yay for the thread being more active again, gives me something to read at work.

Peoria is definitely too far for me and the reasons Scott and Armando bring up are pretty legit. It seems like rather than making it easier for the West siders and harder for the East siders (Haz’s?), the location keeps it just as hard for the West siders and twice as hard for the East siders. I can definitely agree with Rob’s reasons for wanting to bring in new blood and his lamenting of the polarizing effect they bring on the current scene, but I’m sure it was something to do with how the Devastation partnership worked out too. Not trying to spin conspiracy theories or anything, since business is business. I do find the Hazmat to be a more comfortable middle ground for everyone (Despite possibly scaring away new players from coming to visit some Egyptian dude’s house who offers you free beer and hookah, haha), and it’s a shame that his place is considered less “official” than others despite having the only regular stream in the entire state.

Armando, good call on the Bootcamp revival. It definitely had a positive effect with SF4, but one of the flaws was that there was a tournament dry spell during its run and people were really itching to test themselves again. A tournament once every 2-3 sessions would work very well, and if you could bring back Rick’s Swedish tournament setup that’d be sick too. Can’t do much in way of setups as far as monitors go, but I can bring my Xbox + game anytime you need me to.

I am going to try something a little bold in Tucson. If I can get help (Marvin), I am going to start a FREE boot camp on Wed nights at AIAB for MVC3. This will 1. Get knew people, I mean it’s free. 2. Free up people’s cash to come to Friday Night Fights and/or Ranbats. 3. Give new people a chance to learn the game and not just get thrown to the wolves. Those that want to learn will keep coming, those that don’t will stop.

We will cap it as well. But it’s free, so we have a little more wiggle room.

Hahaha I love you Muji :tup::lol:

Yo hazem when we do things at UAT you should bring the stream machine… they got college internet which is stupid fast!

**ok guys let’s take a break from all of this for a second I wanna ask for help

so the stream video quality is waaaay imrpoved now and really crisp. I got a refund for the ustream producer pro and using Flash media live encoder now (Way Better) the problem is that when i Stream from FMLE alone the video is perfect but when i use something like Manycam to switch between cams and put titles it fucks up the whole stream donno why so that’s 1 thing I need help with.

2nd is the freakin Mixer LOL no matter how I hook the cables up in it it just don’t wanna get voices out except for the mics (Am sure am doing something wrong but just donno what is it)

If anyone can help with these 2 things then we will b set so please HELP!!!**

Sounds great bro. Actually Tevin (ail cross) contacted me last night about going there and stuff so yeah man lemme know and am down

No, I read the posts, and basically got out of it that people won’t go cause its too far, and not worth it since there is no money on the line, I get it. What about all the westside folks who went to bootcamp, for no money? To improve the scene, I don’t see this as being any different, just a different format. Its funny, I specifically remember multiple people over the years stating they didn’t go to a tourney cause 5 or 10 bucks was too much, so we are trying someething different. We want new people to come out, not the same people who come to everything. If those same people wanna come to, that’s a bonus, but understand that wasn’t the point of this. I don’t recall there being any debate over location when theeast planned stuff, just a “here’s the address and time of said event” now you guys did do polls for sat or sun, but I don’t recall a location poll. Bottom line, accept for the distance to some, the spot is perfect for us, and will work well. Sorry to those who won’t be attending since its not convenient for you…wasn’t aware this was aout making it easy for the eastside folks, I thought it was about expanding the community…my bad.

I don’t think being out a little time and gas money is that bad considering your saving the 5 bucks that most would lose anyways, use that for gas…

I’m not a fan of the location of the ranbats either, but there are some misconceptions going on here.

This is not something that is directly related to DEV as many of you guys claim. I’m heavily into DEV preparations and I had absolutely no hand in the ranbats. In fact, to my knowledge, it was mainly Cory, with a side of Robb. I wouldn’t consider that an effort by the DEV team, just like I wouldn’t consider something headed up by Abe to automatically be related to AIAB.

Euphoria Gaming held an MVC3 event at LAN Speed. Why is it automatically assumed that the only reason it’s at LAN Speed is because there are ties to DEV? In all this discussion, not a single person has provided an alternate location for the ranbats. We have possible boot camps at UAT, but no one has suggested an alternate ranbat location.

Honestly, if there was a problem with ranbats, it should’ve been brought up two months ago when the ranbats were first announced. Why wait until 2 weeks before the first ranbat to start complaining about location, payouts, etc.?

Marvel vs Capcom 3 Ranbat Season 1 | LAN Speed Games

The first sentence is where I made my assumption.

If I somehow misconstrued that as Dev being involved, I apologize. Don’t feel like getting into a semantics discussion at the moment.

hey ed, any chance for thursday? lol… have class till 10 on wed…
I need to up my game like 10 fold too

I actually don’t know who that is…
But yeah dude get hype for that!
Also, next time I go to your house I’ll take a look at that stuff… I sort of know how the mixer is suppose to be hooked up.

lol… So you say your main goal is to attract new people, then why keep posting about it to us?
We are obviously not your target audience. I’ve said it before I’ll say it again… no need to fix or explain anything. We were just pointing some things out.

Muji droppin’ bombs.

^ so apparantly you are the only one allowed to point things out? Am I not entitled to the same privelage?
