Nope… getting around 50-60mpbs down and 20 up off the modem, plugged modem > xbox: still lags.
netcode is garbage

ross:

I started using the dante team to play online because with the lag it doesn’t matter
I can’t play magneto online shit lags too much to do his complicated combos

as such I can’t really tell you how good you were cause a lot of the times shit just hit because of online
I’ll make sure to play you at one of these gatherings

edit::
for the record, I was playing muji who lives 5 minutes away extensively… nothing but lag fest.

I’ve had absolutely no issues online other than the matchmaking. Actually, as far as the netcode goes I’d be hard pressed to name a fighting game that runs as smooth online.

Common misconception, just cuz you have good bandwidth, doesn’t mean you don’t have A shit connection. Bandwidth plays almost zero role in how well Your game will play online. It’s all about ping time to your opponent and most importantly, does the connection suffer from packet loss?

I played Jon with Rick the other day for an hour or so, shit was smooth as hell. He was landing is really long zero Combos just fine…

How can anybody not do zero combos, everythings like 3x multi hit.
It’s like, derp, did it hit? yes? hit the next button and wait for the multi hit confirmation.

I have a longer, more challenging Buster combo that I’m working on, don’t worry Armando.

Carlos, I’ll pick up the game this week, sorry. Thursday sound good?

I’m not gonna claim to understand how online works. Scott and Rick were fine, A-Rodt and Haz are fine too. Games with Armando aren’t too great, and games with Dana are bad. I don’t get it, and there’s not enough information (ISPs, routing distances, issues with my apartment complex) for me to care.

Will there be any mvc3 tournaments on Saturdays??? I actually changed my work schedule to get off at noon to make them. Won’t be at any Sunday ranbats lol. Also Armando I’m at ASU lol if you want to game during the week let me know. I’m up here Monday - Thursday so I’m assume you live close.

And how can anybody not do braindead angelic team combos? Seriously. Fools act like combos in mvc3 are all 1 frame. Chain combos for christ sakes.

I see people drop combos, especially offline…

No one has issues playing mvc3 on hazems big screen and that tv has crazy lag. But since the timing is so loose and forgiving, you dont even notice.

Bottomline, get your interwebs in check. Bandwidth means nothing. Fools taking advantage of the tools. While some are stubborn and fall behind…

I actually thought our connection wasn’t so bad. At least not compared to other players. I am also on wireless, so that might have a lot to do with it.

Also I think one of the things that I both like and dislike about this game is the long combos. When we were playing the other day, I’d get bored waiting for a combo to finish as soon as I got hit by a light attack. Fun to do, boring as hell to watch.

tsumuji. its impossible to tell what your connection with everyone. Its the internet, you cant expect to have every game be playable. if you do, then youll be disappointed with anything you ever play. no biggie, you move on to someone else that does have a good connection. i have good connections with people in socal, norcal, texas etc with the same connection i had with you. good connections exist.

dana: wifi is a big factor when it comes to online gaming. its basically a cardinal sin.

unfortunately thats the problem with online gaming. theres so many factors that can lead to a bleh connection. and theres so many factors that the person can fix on their own, but just dont realize it.

lets be honest, if online was crap, then why are online players starting to win majors? hell, an online player won winter brawl ssf4 this weekend(yes wolfkrone is an online bred player). shit is legit now for maximizing training

Yeah, unfortunately wifi is all I got. And online is definitely legit for training and matchup experience, but due to the lag factor, I just have a hard time taking the actual online match seriously.

Yeah, I haven’t got any huge issues with online as a whole because I don’t consider myself good enough at this game for it to matter yet. I have some small bits of difficult execution every now and then (X23 loop, Zero loop + transfer buster charge) but nothing too crazy.

I agree with you Dana, long and challenging combos are a TON of fun to do, it feels fun and is easier to do than my 1 frame Tsumuji loops in SF4. They are a bitch to watch though, and sometimes I dislike playing Armando’s Magneto for that reason.

One thing I’m struggling with when I’m on the offensive is dealing with airblocking in mixups. I’ve got a good amount of interesting high-low, left-right mixups, but they all seem to be countered by holding up back. I mean, that shows that there’s a flaw in my mixup, but why make a big deal about unblockable low-highs when they can just jump back and block high? I’m pretty sure I’m missing something here.

Pick she hulk and do her air command grab. puts a stop to that pretty easy.

you have to deal with this in any airdash fighter. the problem in marvel is there’s no air unblockable moves. air grab is your friend.

Yeah Jon, some people can combo off of air throws. You really have to focus on that. I think at least wesker and doom can.

Huh. Baiting an airblock and then grabbing them? Brilliant idea, that’s the kind of stuff that I need to learn to break out of the SF mindset. Cheers, everyone.

Seriously guys is this fucking 2001 again?

Also option select airdash (M + H)/air throw.

Braindead Angelic Team combos?
loooooooooooool

I have no problem with SSF4 online, in fact its great. I had to use the wireless one night and I had a lagless connection to muji.
I was so amazed. A player is a player… a stick/pad is just a method for them to sync up with the game and control their fighter.
I personally just prefer a stick… way cooler :stuck_out_tongue:

MVC3 on the other hand isn’t as good online I feel and i’ve only played 4-5 people who had a great connection and didn’t lag.
There IS a lot of factor’s that affect internet connection, but I find it hard to understand that it’s somehow my fault when its just plugged straight into a modem with no software, firewall, ports or dmz stuff to even deal with. If it is, Its clearly something I have no control of. Offline is way better anyways, realistically I never played SSFIV online that much anyways and don’t plan to with MVC3. Why play online when you got friends offline.

Also, I hate watching Amaterasu and Zero combos… they are sooooooooooo long. Except that new one john, lightning dive kick is pretty bad ass.

the problem right now is that the house I live in needs some work… Somethings wrong with the main bathroom that y’all would be using and the last thing I want is to host when a broken bathroom.
Another thing is set ups, I only have 1 Xbox, with 1 game and 1 stick.

Last thing is that one of mybest friends currently has couch, and I need to talk to him about where he can sleep or if hes cool with staying up all night in a crowded room full of people hes never seen before.

I’m down for some private sessions though, 1-3 people isn’t a big deal. I’ll hit you up man, what’s your college schedule like? PM me.
I work M-F 10-6PM

Anything happening April 2nd? Thinking of planning a MCV3 Tournament for that Saturday. Unless something else is up, let me know.

Then hopefully get back into our regular Monthly tournament schedule.

This will also be part of the Upper Cut Circuit.
